Why hasn’t anyone stated the babies gestation?

State restrictions?
Definitely not that. Most US insurance policies are required to offer free birth control and health coverage is often mandatory for university students. It’s certainly required for school athletes. If she was worried about her parents finding out via her insurance, there are likely health clinics nearby that provide exams and birth control for those without health insurance.

Before I had my own health insurance policy, I went to the state health department for my annual exams and to obtain birth control pills for that very same reason. (And I live in South Carolina — a state with very similar laws and viewpoints about abortion. While the majority of the state is very much pro life, they generally aren’t anti-birth control.)

It's a little late to be asking, but why wasn't she on birth control?

I assume you mean birth control pills. We do not know if she was or was not.
Birth control pills don’t fail often if taken as prescribed… but there are women who do not take the pills as prescribed, and others where it fails. Birth control pills are not 100% effective, if they were my son would not be here.

Birth control failure rates American Pregnancy Association

wouldn't that come with autopsy results?
Point is; you can tell if it’s a full term baby vs a 16 weeker. We’ve always heard, before any autopsy in these cases, what gestation the baby appeared to be. Just kind of odd.

The fact that it hasn't been released if the baby was full-term or not is one big reason I am now sitting back to wait for more info before settling on a theory of what happened, even if that's not the popular trend.

Right now, we don't know much, including whether or not the baby was born premature, alive, or full-term. We also don't know if LS was alone or with someone else when the baby was delivered.

This. Thank you for the reasonable and kind approach. Both the sensational reporting and the "popular trends" are deeply disturbing.

She very well may have been. I’m mid 40s and I can name a few of my late 30s/40s, intelligent, professional, married friends who very much never intended to have any more children and who very much knew how not to get pregnant who ended up with a surprise pregnancy. It’s not full proof, even assuming you are taking it correctly.

That said, I’m also willing to give her some grace around her actions after the birth. I’ve had 2 babies at home with little medical intervention (by my own choice). After one of them, I lost enough blood that I wasn’t thinking straight. I literally looked at my daughter and didn’t know if she was a boy or a girl. My brain just wasn’t working. And I was well supported during birth by my husband and three midwives.

She had a totally unassisted birth, possibly out of fear of consequences if going to a hospital (however misguided), possibly because it all happened too quickly and she was bleeding heavily and tried to clean up in a panic and then passed out. Who knows, but I know I wasn’t in the right state of mind in a similar situation and I was a grown woman who had meticulously planned to give birth outside of a hospital environment. JMO

And I agree that she was likely 20 ish weeks in those April stunt team photos. A woman her age would not be showing until at least early 2nd trimester, later if actively trying to conceal her pregnancy. This puts her on target to be full term around the time she gave birth. Again all MOO.

"Bowling is not involved in the Snelling investigation, but he’s worked several high-profile cases involving the deaths of children.

He said social media can sometimes do more harm than good and can often be the catalyst for misinformation.

“So much opinion forming gets had before anyone hears the first real, legitimate fact, and that’s not fair to the defendants, just as much as it’s not fair to our victims,” he said.

Bowling said it can also create more hoops to jump through when putting together a jury."

Photos of LS clearly show that she took great care of herself. Which is great! Some photos look like she may have been pregnant. Why did she not care for her baby and see that he was given medical treatment and/or placed in a safe haven box? Whatever care baby needed at that time? Did she not have even a tiny bit of love for her baby to call for help? I hope more information comes out. Truth. This story didnt need to happen. Poor precious baby boy. moo

RIP little one, such a heartbreaking case.

I looked up to see if there were any other unidentified infants in Kentucky and found just one "Unknown Glasgow Barren County Doe 1989" estimated age 2-3 years old! Have you seen this child? UNKNOWN GLASGOW DOE1989

ITA which is why I said it’s curious nothing about the baby’s gestation has been mentioned.

Also, not making excuses one way or another but even miscarrying a premature baby and not getting help immediately is alarming.

We know of the Ohio gal who was arrested, jailed, and prosecuted for “abusing a corpse” after she sat alone on her toilet while she miscarried a 22 week fetus, flushed, and stopped-up her apartment toilet. We know of the southern gal who went to the hospital stating she was miscarrying a 2nd trimester fetus and was told to wait in the parking lot until she “crashed.”

It seems so simple that the Kentucky LE would access her OBGYN records, if she sought care. It seems so simple that the autopsy report would give an estimated gestational age. Yet they are mum.

It is that simple. However I don't think she sought prenatal care so that would be a wash. I think the gestational age is being held close even though the state and investigators know it. I think they are not going to release that info until they decide if additional charges are appropriate. JMO

that doesn't mean they're required to inform the public before the official results are released
