Possibly Devin Butler? I wish there was more information. Unfortunately, this is the only somewhat matching description from the NamUs details.

He seems like a possibility. I'm wondering about the circumstances of his disappearance since there is little information. This article from one of the local new stations said "Officials are asking for the public's help in locating a missing Louisville teen who disappeared one year ago." No mention of his family so I'm wondering if he was in some type of foster care situation that he ran away from.

One of the things I find unusual about the JD is the lack of clothing. Was he murdered and stripped? Could he have had a mental health or drug issue that led him to strip down? I wish there were more details about where he was found. Was it residential? Industrial? He was found in a zip code with a high crime rate. A woman's body was just found in a trash can in a neighboring zip code last week, so anything seems possible.

EDIT - I found an article with more specific location info. Per another local news channel, JD was found in the 700 block of S 12th St. It's an area full of warehouses and maybe factories. It's just off Broadway which is a busy thoroughfare. I'm not sure how many of the buildings there are in use, but I doubt it's that many. My friends and I used to go down to that area to watch illegal drag races in the late 90's

I agree. It is extremely odd that the JD lacked clothing, and I also do believe that this could have been a mental health/drug-related episode, more likely a murder in my opinion. I also believe he was not wearing any or little clothing (this is a great resource that helped me understand a lot regarding decomp. and its environmental factors) when he entered or was put in the storm drain, and the fact that they only found a single shoe and a lighter on the side of the body would also point to suspicious circumstances. That's what makes this so confusing. :(

Although it is extremely odd to me that, although unrelated, two people were found in strange, entrapped areas such as a trashcan and a storm drain, both involving the Homicide Unit, and now one of them confirming a homicide occurring. I highly doubt they were related but it is for sure a head scratcher. We have such little information on our JD that we don't even know when his death could've occurred.

As to Devin Butler, I will do more research on his background, as much as I can do and keep you posted.

Man found in a sewer

A man's body was found in a sewer under an overpass Aug. 27, 2021.

Due to decomposition, he was not recognizable and investigators could not establish his race or ethnicity. He is believed to have been an adult at the time of his death, though establishing an age range was not possible, nor a time of death.

According to investigators' measurements, he was 5' 7" and 104 pounds.

Near his body was a right athletic shoe, size 9.5. It was a black and brown Hi-Tec shoe. Additionally, a red Bic plastic lighter was found.
