I think the hotel and boaters, etc helping in the search is wonderful. How coincidental and tragic the woman at the hotel had a similar experience. That said, I can't imagine SS's friends or family having to deal with organizing a fundraiser with the mental anguish they are suffering. Someone (local?) mentioned that churches, etc stepped in to help support with past searches. Thats how it's done in my area as well. If that's the case why is this different? Another thought, if SS was murdered, it would be in the best interest to find whoever did it. That would terrify me if I lived in the are. JMHO
Not family, but friends could. It doesn't take much to put the Cajun Teams PayPal on your FB and ask that it be shared. Maybe they have, and many people donate to causes, and don't make their charitable contributions public. Maybe her friends have already donated to the reward fund? I don't know how much more anyone could do, unless she had a home church.
