So there are bars in Richmond? For some reason, I thought there wasn’t and that’s why she went to Lexington.
Perhaps it was because her girlfriend lived in Lexington.

There are many bars in Richmond, I think is highly likely that the gf she was meeting may have went to UK and or lived in Lexington. Hence their meeting at the other bar. At least to me it seems plausible explanation for that location. Moo

Yes, there are bars here. The Paddy Wagon is a really fun bar with an outside seating area that's heated in the winter. And they have a lot of live music. Smokin' Joes. Blue Moon. Gillums. Champions (part of the bowling alley). Etc. etc.

Richmond no longer has the active downtown nightlife that used to exist along 1st street, but there are still plenty of places in which she could've gone if she'd just wanted to drink and hang out with a girlfriend.

If her friends left the bar before she did...how was she intending to get home? Did her friend say? Especially if indeed she did not carry any money? I can’t imagine staying behind at a bar so far from home...

One of the theories I have on this is, Savannah was sitting with the three guys or one maybe two of them and when the friend left they offered her a ride or asked her to party and said they would get her home. Possibly the after party is somehow connected to the argument with her friend or friends. She arrived at the bar with two of her friends but only one of her friends drove.

Did the friends fight or did she just not want to leave.
Stories have changed over time. IMO to make SS appear more sympathetic. Initially the story was the girlfriend wanted to leave & SS wanted to stay. This story has morphed into they had an argument.

Both Savannah's mother and friend have used the word "argument" in interviews.

Friend has not been identified & media has not reported anything.

I had logged off but took the time to look at your map.

I'm not from Ky but had a pretty good idea of where Richmond is, Lexington and Crab Apple where Savannah ended up. I took the time to bring up maps and distance of where everything is and Crab Apple is South of Richmond and the trip from Lexington to Crab Apple is a little over and hour and from Lexington to Richmond is 40 min.

When looking at the map, along with time and distance, I'm having a hard time thinking she would go that far just to party or be with the one guy longer. Good grief, how would she make it home in time for her Mom not to be upset and use the car.

I sure can't stick with any one theory. This is impossible to figure out.

I knew I was going to do this and I did. I wrote Crab Apple instead of Crab Orchard. Sorry to the folks from Crab Orchard. (:

Snipped by me

It does seem to be what folks like to do around here. Waffle House, Tolly Hos, Shoneys (when they were still here), Perkins (may the Lexington location rest in peace), etc...you'll find just about any after hours restaurant in Lexington or Richmond packed full once the bars close. It's not unrealistic or out of the realm of possibility to think that Savannah would do something like that as well.

Agree...this seems like a totally feasible thing to do after being out, drinking, and meeting someone you may (or may not) have a little interest in. Telling her mom she would see her in the morning...dont understand why that wouldnt be JUST as feasible...2:30am leaving the bar, 4:ooam or so heading home, 500am arrival. Sounds pretty normal to me.

Also, I have seen some ask if she went to college. I know we cant link to her SM but according to her Twitter she attended school (i dont know about currently), so she could very well have had friends she was meeting up with or friends of friends, associates, etc..

The not wanting to leave sounds plausible. They might have argued about staying vs leaving, or her friends might have tried to convince her to come with her. Was the friend close to the bar?

My understanding was the girlfriend was from Richmond and a guy friend lived in Lexington. They went to the guy friends home and took his car to The Other Bar.
Was the girlfriend from Lexington too?

Does anybody remember where the black Buick that SS drove that night was parked? I’m wondering if she drove to the other bar herself? Or did she meet at maybe her friends place and they went to the other bar together? Could it be that the she was planning on being taken back to her friends apartment and not to Garrard County? If I recall correctly the contact with her mom was only 5 minutes or so after she left the bar? Did savannah possibly think they were going to another bar? And then be dropped off at her friends? Hmm

To be fair, there are probably crab apples in Crab Orchard so it all makes sense. :-)

In one of these news stories about Savannah, I heard one of the newscasters stumble over the words "Garrard" (they called it gar-RARD instead of GAIR-ud) and "Lancaster" (they couldn't decide if they wanted to call it LANK-uh-ster or LAN-cast-er). I'm interested in seeing how the national news will pronounce our other central Kentucky towns of Versailles (ver-SAILS) and Athens (A-thuns, hard "A").

This part of the state doesn't make the news very often. Lexington, but not the surrounding communities. It's been interesting watching and listening to people who aren't from here talk about places some of us have known all our lives. No kidding, some of you with your maps could probably get around better than some of us at this point.

See the link I just posted to a new interview with her dad. It explains this.

I have no idea, just speculation as I believe I said I thought it was plausible. Do you have a link to that info as fact?

I'm certain it's in one or more of the articles posted. I'm not looking for it, I know I've read it in MSM. Maybe doesn't say where the girlfriend lived. I may have assumed Richmond since it said Savannah and her drove to Lexington in Moms car to go to male friends home. That's why I asked you if she was from Lexington.

I just reread your post and realize you don't know where she lives.
