Idc, I'd not trust them. No. I don't think they should prosecute the dealers either, fwiw. Folks make choices. If they can get the witness for anything else, they'll prosecute them. It pretty much says so in the bill.

I’m in a different state, but we also have the Good Samaritan Law. A family friend/coworker OD’d in her boyfriend’s bed. Even though the bf could easily be linked to the house, he took off when she was STILL ALIVE (slipping in & out of consciousness). He didn’t call 911 at all & she most likely could have been saved.

The police arrested him 2 years later, he was booked on manslaughter charges (& a couple other charges) & held with no bond. He wasn’t the “dealer”, but they somehow charged him as if he was because he was the only other person there with her & the police were being pressured to arrest someone.

I'd have called 911 but I'd have left as soon as I heard the sirens. As for me, I've refused to go for e.r. treatment, and I know others who have too. (I'm referring to an era in my past. We just hoped for the best.)

This is sorta on topic and off topic. I did not know that this was becoming a "thing".

The 48-Hour Missing Challenge;

Parents and police are outraged over the '48-Hour Missing' challenge

I would flip out completely. My child would quickly learn what can happen when you actually go missing!

Indeed. I think it’s abundantly clear that there is something afoul, but because she was not without flaw, the pearl clutchers on FB and other similar unmoderated venues are insisiting she ran away, or was the cause of her own disappearance, by daring to go drink a couple of months post-DUI. She may have had substance use disorder, they say (which is of course very possible), so she did this to herself, they insist.

“She walked out of the bar with men, she should have foreseen this! If she would have been home, this NEVER would have happened!” They say.

I think looking at the statistics behind the opioid epidemic would educate them. Its not just junkies in alleyways, it’s not 1971 anymore. It could be the soccer mom sitting next to you at practice, who got hooked after knee surgery. It can be the teenager playing soccer on the field, who stole Dad’s script and now buys them with his Christmas money. It’s the man who works at Walgreens, the attorney who works the possession case, the kids lining the sidesalk on the way into courthouse. It’s everywhere, people, and digging your head firmly into the sand is to your detriment.

The men could be addicts. She could be. Could be, none of them are. We simply don’t have enough data to say they weren’t casual friends, where something went very, very wrong...or complete strangers.

Victims are so often vilified, especially when they’re women. I’m glad Websleuths has stringent rules about that because FB comments make me snarl like a dinosaur.

My area has an electronic billboard that tallies our drug/alcohol fatalities. I passed it yesterday. 90. That's 90 people dead in 30 days.

I guess this is my theory.

I know when I've had too much to drink, I often feel like I'm overheated and oppressed and just have to get out in the fresh air. I'll rush outside for a walk. And I have gotten mildly lost a time or two when doing that. On a very cold night, inadequately dressed, in what is probably an unfamiliar location, she could easily have taken a wrong turn, been unable to find her way back, and quickly become hypothermic.

I hope she just walked out, because then she'd still be alive.

I also got warm when I would drink at all. I would just not drink in the summer.

How do the twins look?

Positively beautiful and perfect. :)

Photos reveal missing Savannah Spurlock's newborn twins and her new look as the search continues | Daily Mail Online

I may have been given Norcos, not Vicodin. I’m 100% certain it was an opiate, though. And odds are that Savannah had a c-section with her twins.

Vaginal birth with twins is not as uncommon as it used to be. They usually do place an epidural and deliver you in the operating room. However, I have a few friends who've been able to deliver naturally. I hope she didn't have a c-section because she would likely still be in some pain.

I got narcotics after all 3 of my natural births in 2003 and 2015. Even while breastfeeding, as there are many meds that are considered safe. You just watch for extra sleepiness.

Some of have remarked that some photos used were nearly four years old. If they used a 4-5 year old photo of me, to search for me, I'd probably look different too. We sometimes gain and lose weight, change our hairstyle, hair color. It is very important that recent pictures, are used in a search for someone.

It's also important to note that Savannah has had 4 kids in 5 years! 3 pregnancies will absolutely change your appearance drastically.

I'm curious about how the cold and snow effect scent dogs! We know when things freeze up they don't smell. Also with snow covering scents how would that be?
Sounds like mission impossible these men and dogs are on!
One other thought. I think I read it's only a couple men and one for so they must have a specific place they are looking!

All I know is my dog can track just as well in the cold and snow as any other time. It's crazy watching him follow every single step my daughter took when I take him out after she's been out there. Man, they really have good noses on them!

Damned if you do, and damned if you don't. I've seen other cases where family/friends have not spoken to the media and they are slain in social media, other cases they do speak, and they are slain on social media. Hard to say what I'd do in their shoes.

I would do what was the most likely to help. If a hysterical appeal will help, get me in front of a camera. If doing nothing will help, then I would do nothing. My only goal would be to not hamper the investigation into my child's disappearance.

I’m glad they called the search off for tomorrow. It’s unfortunate because time matter but it’s just going to be too cold. They’ve already started calling school districts off so kids aren’t out in the cold waiting for busses and the like. It hurt my nose just breathing in the cold air this morning and tomorrow is going to be worse :( they made the right call.

I agree. I was actually surprised they didn't wait a few days to come down. It's not been this cold in decades.

We have a lot of missing people in this state.

Paige Johnson and her little girl still haunt me.

Searcher from CCRS buying some cold weather gear for his search dog. Hadn't thought about it but they probably couldn't have gotten that gear from Louisiana. Grateful for updates and for helping search! Bring SS home! Pic linked to CCSR site

I knew they would outfit the doggies too. We don't have boots but my dogs do wear coats if they are outside long.

I just got boots for my dog. She looks adorable in them!

According to this report (and in reference to previous post questions) it is the son of the people living in the home where search warrant was issued and car was towed.
"Richmond police are searching the residence, owned by the parents of a man seen in surveillance video leaving a Lexington bar with 22-year-old Savannah Spurlock."

One of the CCSAR team explained a bit on a live video update from their site. (link posted on earlier pages). The issue for the dogs in extreme cold is the damage it can cause to their noses. Dogs can still catch a scent in the cold but the type and velocity of wind can be a problem. One of the previous live videos by their weather analyzer stated there were 4-5 dogs with the team. Not sure how many team members. They have asked potential volunteers to stand by as they might be needed.

The vehicle was probably transported to a crime lab (KSP?) for analyses for blood, body fluids, vomit, hair, fingerprints and maybe stuff stuck in the tire treads.....

Yep, same era so I am guilty as well :(.
Another factor in not reporting, from my PO years, is being on supervision at the time of the event. As we know drug users often end up in the judicial system and if any of the men ;) were at the time and depending on the severity of charges that put them there, could end up serving years in prison for violating probation. Even with the sunshine law protecting them in some aspects, it would not protect them from rules and conditions of current supervision and they would be violated. JMO

Agree. Some have been questioning whether the car towed belonged to the son (I believe there are 2 sons) of the home owners. I would guess there is speculation that cannot be shared at this point since the man has not been named a suspect or POI by LE.

I’m not sure if it went straight to KSP’s crime lab or if it went to Richmond first. It’s usually gone through by tech’s first and sorted out by evidentiary value. Once that’s done, it’s sent to KSP.

I saw a picture on the Cajun Coast SAR facebook page and it looks like they’re out searching. It’s still cold, around 12 degrees and the dog is wearing little boots lol they’re cute.

I think in that live the guy said the team is 4 or 5 dogs and one handler for each. He mentioned having other teams on stand by if needed and the possibility of bringing in civilian volunteers down the line if LE allows for it.

Kentucky's Good Samaritan Law. There are exceptions to immunity (calling 911 and leaving before help arrives would be one) and what looks like a gray area as well (bolded).
(2) A person shall not be charged with or prosecuted for a criminal offense prohibiting the possession of a controlled substance or the possession of drug paraphernalia if:
(a) In good faith, medical assistance with a drug overdose is sought from a public safety answering point, emergency medical services, a law enforcement officer, or a health practitioner because the person:
1. Requests emergency medical assistance for himself or herself or another person;
2. Acts in concert with another person who requests emergency medical assistance; or
3. Appears to be in need of emergency medical assistance and is the individual for whom the request was made;
(b) The person remains with, or is, the individual who appears to be experiencing a drug overdose until the requested assistance is provided; and
(c) The evidence for the charge or prosecution is obtained as a result of the drug overdose and the need for medical assistance.
3) The provisions of subsection (2) of this section shall not extend to the investigation and prosecution of any other crimes committed by a person who otherwise qualifies under this section.

Also, per Richmond PD’s official FB page, they’re out searching specific areas of Garrard county today.

.

Is that a house behind the trees?

It looks like there’s some kind of structure. It doesn’t look like THE house. Someone had posted in the threads back when they took the car and said there were quite a few houses in the area. They made a comment about how the area wasn’t as rural as people would think. I haven’t pulled up a map and look around much though.

I don't think it's the house where the car was either but maybe down the road?
ETA does it look like a white 2 story to anyone ? Just curious.
