A MISSING-four-year-old's mom and boyfriend have been arrested, but the little girl has still not been found.

Serenity Ann McKinney was last seen on December 27, 2020, before family members reported her missing last week after a year of odd, anti-social behavior from her mom.

Police in Thomas County took both parties into custody based on warrants, the Kansas sheriff confirmed, and are in the process of being extradited to Kentucky.

Their charges haven't been revealed yet.

About an hour before Serenity's grandma said they were arrested, she was interviewed by The Sun.

"My gut tells me she has to be OK. Serenity has to be OK. She's going to come home. We're going to find her. We have to," she said. "There's no way around this. We don't know where she's at but we have to find her."

So, it’s not both parents but the mother and mother’s boyfriend.

I know the grandmother is hoping for this little one to be found safe but I don’t have the same hopeful feeling.

Here's what we know:

Family members say Serenity Ann McKinney was last seen on Dec. 24, 2020.

Cameron said family members had contacted law enforcement officials in Shelby County with concerns that Serenity could be in danger.

The Attorney General's office didn't say if the child had been reported missing once family members first noticed she was gone.

However, police did say that Serenity's parents are refusing to cooperate with authorities.

Serenity has blonde hair, blue eyes and may have a birthmark on her stomach. Her last known location is possibly in the Shelby, Jefferson, Bullitt County area.

Based on something I saw on mom's fb, I'm half expecting her to claim she's hiding Serenity to keep her safe.

I can't imagine she will. It appears she cut all contact with her family as well as bio dad's family.

custodial interference. I assume it's because she pulled a disappearing act with the boyfriend meaning bio dad was denied his child.

what confuses me is that is exactly what they SHOULD have been charged with initially, before they bolted for Kansas, necessitating extradition back to Shelby County KY. The facts haven't changed since the AG announced their concern. Abby has cut off all communication with family (her own and bio dad family) and been uncooperative with LE's attempts at wellness checks on Serenity. What I don't get is, why on earth they didn't just take them in to custody and charge them when they first refused to produce the child for LE??

Better late than never. Now hopefully they begin to talk. I think Abby will break first. I suspect Dakota thinks he runs the show. And maybe he has, but now that LE has them both in custody, if fear has been a factor for Abby it should not be any longer.

Final photo taken of girl, 4, in Xmas 2020 before she vanished is revealed

A MISSING four-year-old girl was last seen during Christmas 2020, a few months before her mom and boyfriend cut ties with their loved ones.

One of Serenity McKinney's grandmas scrolled through the photos on her phone and found one of the last photos of her four-year-old granddaughter holding a doll on December 27, 2020.

The next year was marred by anxiety and suspicion after Serenity's mom - Catherine "Abby" McKinney - displayed abnormal behavior, two of her grandmothers exclusively claimed to The Sun US.

Serenity's family alerted the Shelby County Sheriff's Office last week that they believed the young girl is in danger.

McKinney was dating dating Dakota Hill, who their family met during Christmas 2020, according to Serenity's paternal grandma Melody Roller and step grandma Aundria DeVaryshe.

"We didn't know him that well. We only met him that once or twice, but he didn't raise any red flags," DeVaryshe said. "He was very polite, well-mannered and there was no indication that Serenity was fearful of him.

"I'm shocked that we're going through this," she said. "We devastated. There's no other words."

DeVaryshe said they're not only worried about Serenity's well-being, but also about Catherine, who their family calls "Abby."

She allegedly bought a new phone with a new number and blocked everyone on social media, including her younger sister who Ms Roller said Abby "adores."

The two grandmothers said she always had an excuse when they asked if they can see Serenity or if they can spend time together.

Ms Roller, who lives in Florida, was in Kentucky in April and asked to see Serenity and keep her overnight.

Her reply was always, "We're busy," Ms Roller said.

IMO, recent information was provided which indicates Serenity may not be alive. The CI charges are a place card to hold them until other charges can be filed. Just like the Father in the Codi Bigsby case. MOO-

She hasn't been seen since 2020, but I think one of the grandmothers spoke to Serenity on the phone in the early summer of 2021. So she was not yet missing in Jan 2021. Correct?
