Web page of murder victim's ex found with angry messages
Sep 13, 2007 08:00 PM EDT
Tracy Burke had requested a restraining order against her then husband, Brent Burke, saying he had an anger control problem. Further into the court documents, Tracy states while Brent was deployed in Egypt, he was sent home with of an alleged mental issue after threatening to kill a lieutenant.
Investigators say, Brent is not a suspect, and he that he is cooperating.
"He's very open and very cooperative right now. About everything," said Trp. Pavey.
After the divorce decree was signed, Brent was ordered to pay $750 a month in child support immediately. And in 90 days would have to pay $1,000 to Tracy to recoup some of their debt. That payment would have been due this October. We were able to find Brent Burke's MySpace page. On it a title that states, "I hate money hungry women."
Trp. Pavey says, "We knew about the MySpace page, they looked at it. Somebody else had told them (detectives) about it. They are looking at everything."
Pavey goes on to say," We've got a couple of detectives at Fort Campbell right now. Fort Campbell authorities and Mr. Burke are cooperating fully with us." (more at link)

I think that if a person who is in the military is found to be a danger to others and is threatening to kill people, they need to take steps to protect his family and the public rather than just transfer or discharge him.

It sounds like this guy was a ticking time bomb. Tracie did all she could to protect her family.

Dear God, thank you for saving the children and for your continued protection over them.

Wow I wonder what rank he is in the Army? To have to pay $1000 a month is alot for a enlisted soldier. Not that his children are not worth every last penny i'm just saying... I noticed both of her X husbands were in the Army & she was staying at her first X husbands mothers house...Could it be she was trying to get back with her first husband and it made her new X hubby just snap?...Oh what a confusing mess!! Poor kids.. My heart goes out to them little ones.
In KY it is $250 per child for child support. That is VERY reasonable. The article said that the extra $250 was to help cover the debt that the couple had. This guy was getting off easy. However, apparently, not easy enough. I suspect he is the shooter.

So she was also making him pay for a child that wasnt his? Believe me I hope they stick it to this SOB if he is the shooter which I also think he is.
I wonder now what the children will go through? The oldest obviously will have to live with his/her dad..the younger two lost their mom and their dad will be in prison (most likely). Freakin father of the year right here!

I don't understand how it can be a set amount for child support. Back when support was ordered for my daughter, it was based on the salaries we made. He didn't work much and only had to pay a very small amount per week. Totally off-topic, I know, but I was just surprised to read that, nan!

The murder victim couldn't "make" him pay for anything. If he legally adopted the child, he would be financially responsible for him. Otherwise, I would think that the child would be the financial responsibility of the biological father.

Hmm that is true. I know my husband pays child support for his daughter and it is based on his income and it usually goes up every 3 years & everytime my husband gets promoted (pay raise) he has to inform the child support division. I don't know what rank this ladies soon to be X husband was but alot of enlisted soldiers don't even bring home 1ks a month after taxes.

He lists his interests as: My kids Eion and Raegan
I know there are three children and one of them is probably from Tracy's first marriage. How nice of him to be interested in two of his wife's children instead of three.

Isn't the youngest a infant? Maybe he did not have time to add her yet?

maybe the 250 is the least you can pay. i would think if dad made alot of money they would expect him to pay more but if he works at mcdonalds maybe 250 is all they ask. the rest of the guys get something inbetween?

I'm not doubting nan's post, just surprised by the set amount, that's all. Man, my ex got off easy! Is $250/per child the going rate nowadays? Better think twice before you do something to cause a divorce in KY if you have kids.

From her myspace link, it looks like she might have been a nurse. I would think she might make more than he did, depending on what type of job she had.

What a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 to think this was a way out. I'm so thankful he didn't harm the children though. Well, I mean physically anyway. They'll have a lot to deal with the rest of their lives.

Some articles say he is an MP. Do they make more than enlisted men?

His myspace lists "military police" as his occupation too.

That and he's interested in criminal justice and likes the TV show "Prison Break".

While child support is based on dual salaries, they have to set a minimum for everyone across the board. If they need to get a second job to fulfill this in order to pay for their children...well...I guess they shouldn't have had children until they were able to support them the rest of their lives.

I agree when they are showing definite signs of uncontrolled violence in the military...they need to take a serious look at releasing them back into society. This has been a problem even with people coming out of the military after serving full terms and with honorable discharges. We create killing machines...then want to put the lid back onto the bottle, so to speak.

This case is very troubling on so many levels. She was trying to protect herself and her children, but should she have gone to a location where he could not have found them instead of putting her exmil at risk? This question comes up in a lot of situations and it is the reason we have safe houses around the country.

Bless those poor children who have to grow up without their mother or their grandmother. It is just so awful to think about how hard it is going to be for the oldest to overcome such a tragedy.

Well, sadly, somebody else is going to be paying for those children's needs now if the father killed their mom.

You beat me to it...lol.

Great minds think alike. :blushing:

Unfortunately, I've been down the CS road with an ex.

I looked online at the Hardin County online records search and found nothing listed for anyone involved. Could be that because of the children the records are not available to be seen online.

NO they don't. And I looked him up on AKO and he is an E-5.

I've been down that road, too.

Thanks for looking, FLMom. It probably is kept secret since children are involved.

Thanks MGS. Would he be given a housing allowance that he would lose with not having custody of the children? That would hurt him financially as well.
