So far, as far as I can tell, the only thing linking him to the murder are the testimonies of family members and Josh Gouker. And the statements have been inconsistent and strange. I might be wrong though so if there's more than that let me know. But I still haven't seen definitive evidence that he was involved.

I don't think the evidence proves he did anything. The father says he was not involved. There is no evidence linking him to the crime.
So far this is not working for me.

I only started watching today, but I am not seeing any evidence towards Joshua Young. Yes he was in a very bad family situation, but proving is going to be difficult. imo

Exactly. Never worried about leaving her daughter w/ a man who (claims to) penetrate her with a banana & has an alleged (or even proven-- I don't know) sexual relationship w/ his cousin?

My heart goes out to her b/c she lost a son, but I just cannot understand mothers who invite (repeatedly) certain characters into the lives of their children.

This...I was just saying to a friend that it makes me question whether or not the mom should be accountable in some way. Harsh I know, but how can these situations evolve without anyone noticing???? How can she have not noticed some of the things going on, ie., pot smoking, 🤬🤬🤬🤬 movies and the like?

I think he was in for an armed robbery that time but he has a rap sheet as long as my arm has been arrested something, like 19 times I know he did 8 years and w released in the fall of 2010 and got custody of JY in April 2011, and Trey was killed 2 months later....very sad case.

Why would a judge give him custody??? It's crazy. You read about cases where parents are vilified by social services b/c their kid comes to school with a bruise, yet this 🤬🤬🤬 gets custody seemingly with no follow up. At the least the judge should have made JG PROVE he was a worthy parent, over time, and kept him in foster care until then.

Eta: hmmm, wonder if the alleged aunt story is true??? If so I'm sure we'll see her on one of the HLN shows.

Meebee, great post.

I think this man gouker is evil to the core I believe this was all him. I believe that he used violence and fear to control everyone. I believe he has done great damage to josh y. But unless they have done proof I am not seeing? This kid should not go to jail for this crime. He needs therapy.

Here's the article with the comment:

It also has some interesting info on the family and the custody thing. I'll let you be the judge re: the aunt. I am very new to this case.

AM keeps insisting that JG only lived with her for 2 days.....yet, she tells a detective or social worker that he lived with her for 7 months! She was taking out a restraining order against him, I think. About the time she was being investigated for neglecting her daughter. June of 2011? What a mess!

New to the case and heartbroken. So far, I see evidence of poverty, crappy parenting, resentment, but NONE that Josh Y murdered anyone. :(

I'm only to 6:30 in this video, but I'm seeing some signs that are just no good for JY. Hmmmm.

Complete Interview: Police Talk To Josh Young - YouTube

(I have to use the VLC media player to get the volume high enough to hear anything!).

At 6:30, JY does a (possibly) sly con artist/psychopath move with the 'You can understand that' said to the interviewing detective. His demeanor is not the least bit upset or frazzled, also. Hmmmm. And it's clear he's extremely smart.

Very interesting. I'll watch more now but I wanted to give that link (and share my thoughts while I'm posting)...

Oh, the detective is clarifying what's up with him changing the story of that night, so it's a very important interview.

Well to be fair the trial testimony has just begun.

imo

That interview is what convinced me Josh Young is not as he is portrayed to be in that courtroom.

Quite the opposite actually.

Didn't Trey's father say that when JoshY came to Trey's funeral he wasn't upset and showed no emotion?

I think there is a side of Josh that hasn't been told yet.

IMO

None of that matters to me. I believe that his emotions don't matter in this case. What matters is do they have proof he killed Trey or not? That he was complicit or not? I don't see it. Not at all.

I will watch the interrogation but as nasty as he could be, If there is no proof, There is no case.

What was the results of the investigation concerning her daughter?

Does she have her daughter now?

I am not willing to go to that extreme and say there is no proof when there has only been one full day of trial testimony to date. That's way too premature for me. JMO though.

I will give the prosecutor a chance to prove their case. They have just begun.

Demeanor always matters whether it should or not. That is why so many in criminal cases testify about the demeanor of a certain suspect. Just like Trey's father testified about Josh Young's demeanor at Trey's funeral. That is why interviews with the suspect and LE are played so the jury can see what was said and the demeanor as it was being said.

I don't see the evidence.. They don't even know how the murder was done. They have no weapon at all. No dna linking Josh Y. Nothing.. And right now am watching the video of the interrogation and don't see anything but a teen kid. Nothing like an adult in this video. In fact I am wondering why a minor is being questioned without counsel or parent or guardian.

The Det. is trying to trick him. I get that police can do it, but this is a kid. Whose father is a monster and a manipulator..

Is this interview after the dad said that it was Josh Y so that he could get off? So that is why they are pushing so hard at him??

  • #258
They may not have a case against him, no. I don't know yet.

But WOW on this interview. Now I'm only at 16 minutes, but it's clear that he's not intimidated at all by LE/the law, and he is adamant that his father is the greatest thing in the world.

He likes it :( Very much. I can't support a kid like this in the least. The amount of evidence will matter for whether he should be convicted or not, but morally I think the kid is just not OK at all. Unfortunately, he also seems very 'together' and smart, so I don't know that he could be changed. I was hoping I'd get a vibe that said he was also immature and intimidated or something. I don't get even a hint of that with JY.

I don't think he likes it. I think he may love his dad and that is not a crime. His mother is dead of an overdose, and he only has his father left. Kids that are controlled by their parents often prefer their real parent to anyone else. that does not bother me or surprise me.
I don't know if he seems smart, But I think he is damaged.

I don't see a grown up. Not at all.

I honestly, without bias cannot see what you guys are talking about. At all. He looks like a regular kid to me.
