Kyron's Parents in Touch with Oprah

Why not accept the money? The story is already being sold to an audience by Oprah. By not accepting the money, they are donating it to one of the richest women in the world.

I'm thinking of the Anthonys licensing photos and being paid for interviews and such. I would hope that no one would say ugly things about DY & KH since their situation is very different from the Anthonys, but I am afraid they would (not here, but on those nasty news site comment sections).

Plus, it sounds like these parents are sensitive to anyone thinking they'd take money for Kyron's story and are trying to nip that in the bud before it ever takes root. So, while it would be nice (and I like MB's suggestion), I understand where they are coming from with that, and it's nice to see that their only thought is doing what they can to help their boy.

Well, obviously they are reading message boards, because Kaine today had to clarify what he meant about him wanting to die so that Kyron would still be here, thats the first thing I thought, when he was addressing this, hes reading around, or someone is. It has to be hard for everyone.

They may need the money. Missed work and other related expenses (like maybe a PI), and these expenses will mount. It's their business.

Maybe money is what will help their boy right now. Agree, they are lovely and I can see their sincere (and desperate) intent. Still, it's a jungle out there.

...I agree...I think they are ''too vulnerable'' at this time and the investigation is at a pretty precarious juncture...I am not that confident an appearance would best serve Kyron's cause at this time.:angel:

They will suffer WAY worse, and the backlash (hate to say it so strongly) is very temporary and very unsophisticated. It would work out, in my professional and personal experience.

MBLover, I think they probably don't want to be accused of being in it for money or feel like they're making money off their poor little son's ordeal in any way.

Exactly...if they did take money (which I feel along with many on here they would be entitled to to help defray their expenses) but if they did receive ANY compensation a lot of people would have issues with it...ala the Anthony's selling family pics to help with whatever. I feel like KH and DY are danged if they do and danged if they don't! :banghead:

To be totally honest, I am concerned that this family is open to Oprah and People magazine (which is published only ONCE a week) and Oprah is on summer sabatical and does NOT do any NEW shows until NEXT month.

This family DOES DO PRESS FOR PEOPLE MAGAZINE, but NOT local radio stations! I live here locally and they seem to want to do one-on-ones with TV stations and the radio stations are left out. OKAY.... if my kid is missing, I want EVERYONE to know about what is going on, but to leave out KXL radio (the #1 radio station in Portland - and no, I do not KNOW anyone at the station, but wonder why they will NOT do an interview there, but they have done COUNTLESS interviews at People Magazine, which is national, but only ONCE a week here locally...........................

IMO, I do not suspect biological family...........................

The thought is that Oprah does not pay for *interviews* but rather pays for photographs, etc. This allows shows like Dateline, Oprah, etc. to state they don't pay for interviews, did not pay for the interview, when it is simply a play with words. That's what I've heard anyway.

Had a friend go on Oprah... she paid for his transportation, accommodations and the suit he wore on the show. Nothing more...

I say let K & D do what they feel they need to do... they already have enough stress on them from Kyron being missing.
