HARVEY, La. -- Near the apartment where 6-year-old Ahlittia North was last seen, a memorial grows. Hundreds of people, shaken by Ahlittia’s gruesome murder, have delivered stuffed animals, notes, balloons and pictures.

And hundreds of people gathered in front of the memorial for multiple candlelight vigils in Ahlittia’s memory.

In the presser, Sheriff Normand stressed there was no indication the parents knew he was wanted on the other charge.

Thank God and LE that this monster is off the streets!

During the press conference, the sheriff said he didn't think anybody knew, and cut off that line of questioning from the press.

Deputies say he’s also wanted for a sexual battery involving an 11-year-old. His last known address was a few doors down from Ahlittia.

“A big surprise; if I would have known that he’d a never been by my family,” says North’s stepfather Albert Hill.

I have to say that I have a brother who I love very much, but if I thought for one second that he had anything to do with such a horrific crime, I'd be singing like a damn canary! And if I was wrong about his involvement, well, I'd rather err on the side of caution. Anyone who would willingly keep possible incriminating info from LE should be in jail and facing serious prison time, imo.
How could anyone not be thinking of what this mother was going thru?
It just boggles the mind.

Thankyou for the upload. What an amazing reference guide.

I wish to applaud the LE FBI etc, not only have they got the result of arrests, but they kept the public in awareness throughout this case. Putting what they know out there instead of the normal closed sealed tight book approach brought this investigation forward. I wish other missing cases can follow the same approach!

Flugence, 20, was taken into custody without incident. Police said at the time of his arrest he was carrying a knife.

Hopefully the murder weapon...

Authorities revealed that the little girl was stabbed to death. The fatal injuries were two deep cuts on the side of her neck, according to Jefferson Parish coroner Gerry Cvitanovich. The wounds went through the cartilage in her spine to the bone. "That's a very aggressive stab wound," he said.
