Authorities say Ahlittia's body was slightly decomposed. But they do not yet know how long she was dead before her body was found. "We know as a result of multiple interviews that Matthew Flugence was in and around those crime scenes multiple times Friday, Saturday and Sunday," Normand said Tuesday.

Hill said he hasn't spoken to his nephew in several weeks. He said he had no idea that Flugence was wanted for the alleged sexual battery of an 11-year-old in a separate case. He said if he had known that, he would never have allowed his nephew around his family.

Circumstantial but also speaks for his guilt, imo , the fact that he was lurking in the neighbrhood but never took the time to come and see the family and find out if there was anything he could do to help in the search for the little girl that he helped to babysit

I have to say that I have a brother who I love very much, but if I thought for one second that he had anything to do with such a horrific crime, I'd be singing like a damn canary! And if I was wrong about his involvement, well, I'd rather err on the side of caution. Anyone who would willingly keep possible incriminating info from LE should be in jail and facing serious prison time, imo.
How could anyone not be thinking of what this mother was going thru?
It just boggles the mind.

True ! There is a code of silence or don't snitch/ narc, etc. If your brother is a petty thief who picks up sneakers at walmart to pawn for his crack habit and you don't want to get involved , I understand. But the only people I can think of who would harbor child molesters are people who don't think it's wrong to be a child molester and who are the only people who do not think it's wrong? There is a bit of a grey area with SOME crimes, but molesting and killing babies is not one of them !

I am so glad that they found him. After watching the press conference yesterday afternoon I think both the JPSO & the FBI have done a wonderful job of investigating and keeping the public updated. This case hits close to home with me because not only do I have a 4 year old daughter and 3 year old son but I live maybe 45 minutes to an hour from where this little girls life was taken way too soon.

My prayers go out to her family.

Well, the thread in the information-and-support forum is usually just for, well, information and support. The discussion forum is where we talk about what's going on. So both threads have their purpose and no, they shouldn't be merged.

In my opinion. I'm not a moderator But that's my understanding of the difference between the two areas.

I read in our local paper today that Alittia had been living with her bio father and grandmother prior to living with her mother and step-dad. The article also mentioned that she had only been with her mother and step-dad a few weeks. There were also a 1 year old and 9month old at the residence who the perp also baby-sat! What a monster!

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said Matthew Flugence admitted to killing 6-year-old Ahlittia North.

North was killed early Sunday morning, according to the sheriff.

Normand added that the knife Flugence was arrested with Tuesday night was the weapon used in the killing.

So proud of the JPSO for their excellent police work! (I grew up in Jefferson Parish.)

How many times have we seen missing peoples cases go cold because of what we think *may* have been LE not double-checking things & putting together events that have happened in the area. Thank goodness the JP investigator checked the garbage can that held Ahlittia's remains even though it had been checked before & found empty at the time. Thank goodness they put together that Flugence was accused of this otehr crime, was a family member, and was lurking around. Go JPSO!

What happened to Ahlittia was awful but thankfully her parents won't also have to wonder where her remains are & who killed her, like so many missing who are likely deceased.

When news reporters asked Matthew Flugence whether he killed Ahlittia as he walked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional facility in Gretna, Normand said he told them, "And f'ed your mother, too"
