Acadia Sheriff Deputies searching for missing 31-year-old Iota man

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a missing 31-year-old Iota man.

Deputies say Alton Lowe was last seen and heard from on February 9, 2019.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were not released.

This case will be part of a Cold Case Conference taking place in Mamou, La. this Saturday the 30th of March 2019. Apparently left home on a moped, not seen since.

In the Cold Case Conference in Mamou the last weekend of March 2019, it was discussed that Alton Lowe is an out of the closet gay man, thirtyish, missing from Acadia Parish. Perhaps coincidentally, but the only cold murder case in Church Point, Acadia Parish, is Alex Babineaux. Killed in 2017, he was a thirtyish gay man. His parents feel confident his killing was a hate crime.

Next Cold Case Conference in Mamou will be April 26/27, 2019. We are looking at missing person Alton Lowe, Iota, in Acadia Parish.

He was arrested on 05/14/2020 in Jefferson Davis Parish on Outside Agency Warrant.
