Hello WS community, I finally joined after lurking for a few week(ashola_nola is a good friend, thanks for directing me here!). I am VERY impressed with the sense of community and exchange of information and ideas that go on here.

Anyway, I have read some posts observing that Charlie no longer is posting hopeful/optimistic things on her Facebook about bringing mickey home. Well, I am lucky enough to call Charlie a friend, both on Facebook and in real life, as we worked together in Nola for a short time. I just wanted to make the WS community aware that while she has made her Facebook private following the renewed media attention, she still continues to post status updates about how her goal is the same it's always been (to find her sister alive), even though she acknowledges that the odds are not in her favor. She displays unbelievable strength and grace despite the dark developments in her sister's case.

Basically, while I contemplate dumping sites and dna on the truck/in the trailer just like everyone else, I thought it would be nice to bring back to this thread a little of the optimism that we all once shared. Wanted to share with you that Charlie's resolve is stronger than ever, even though y'all can't see it on her Facebook. If her sister can still keep the faith, it makes me a little less depressed and I hope it cheers y'all up too.

He also had a small red stealth sports car. You can see it in the pictures of his home when they were searching it. I wonder if it runs.

That one is actually listed on his RSO registry page. It was added within the last few days (before his arrest).

Why was he bullied? He's a nice looking guy. Maybe the guys were jealous and that's why he didn't have any male friends. Bullying is so bad. It sure has a negative effect on the psyche when they grow up. BSL is a good example. Being adopted is hard too. Kids always want to be loved by their biological parents even if their terrible parents.

I was wondering the same thing. I feel bad for anyone who was bullied excessively growing up. It does sound like this kid was akin to a "bad seed," and his mother probably went through hell and back (at least from her viewpoint) trying to raise him. There is or was a father in the picture several years ago according to an earlier poster. Was BSL's brother also adopted?

I asked the why was he bullied part too. People tape for control. At some point in his life, I bet he felt totally not in control.

I am sure there is an easy answer to this that I'm just missing after catching up on the thread. What is the connection to Texas? Why did he rent a car in Spring, TX on 5/31? Why not use a more local company? He reported the vehicle on 5/26 so did he stay there until he got a rental? If so, where? If not, again, why not use a rental company closer to home?

Megsy, that's a great job on the timeline. Concise and simple to follow. Wanted to say thanks because I didn't think hitting the button was enough. Thanks.

(I'm back from lurk-reading..)

You're right. Being an adopted kid myself, there are times where it can be difficult and emotionally tough, regardless of how fantastic and loving your adoptive family is. Biological family is always a factor that can screw with your mind. My heart does go out to his mom - my (adoptive) mom and I talk often about the sometimes fuzzy line of nature vs. nurture - Mrs. L is probably sick about this, wondering what she did wrong for this son she was trying to give 'a better life.'

The adoption angle is interesting, especially if he was removed from his biological parents very early. Children in those scenarios are very prone to attachment disorders - one of the most severe is Reactive Attachment Disorders (RAD). RAD cases are usually marked by the subjects inability to integrate socially, often acting inappropriately (displaying genitals, assaulting other sexually). This could explain the rape in 2000; this could also explain this propensity to commit these violent crimes.

Any defense attorney worth anything will be able to ensure the death penalty is not an option in this case (assuming BSL is guilty of the crimes he was arrested for).

They have the date the bike was found wrong. It was found May 27th. You can confirm on the police dept press release.

The bike was found by fisherman on the 26th. Police announced the find and returned to Whiskey bay on the 27th. They may have wanted quiet time to search w/out alerting the media and the public. The fact that they went on the 27th is probbaly why they canceled the press conference that was originally scheduled for that day.

Wat your source

He worked an the rental car agency. When it was announced that the burned truck was associated with the crime in LA, he checked the records and saw it was BSL.

His mother said she had him from birth so he formed his attachment to her.

Re the neck scar, I wonder if she had her keys to her house close to her hands and could have used them to try to go for his jugular? I've got some keys that are pretty sharp.

I've read that she had her mace can on her keychain, and kept the mace at-the-ready when riding at night.

Which brings me to another thought: perhaps she used the mace in or around his truck....which might explain a possible connection between BSL and the suspicious fire/vandalism/theft a few nights after MS disappeared. (forgive me if the dates don't align...too tired to go back and confirm or refute)

Actually some people here on WS are friends her on FB, so we can still see her posts. Regardless of whether her page is private I noticed that some posts--including the ones you're talking about--are set to public so even people who aren't friends with her should still be able to see those. I think she makes the ones she shares with the Find Mickey public. If you look on there you will see that some are friends only and some are public.

I wonder if there is any family connection. Meaning...is BSL actually the biological child of a family member other than his mother's? I know a family of Lavergnes and frankly, I can see a pretty strong resemblance between BSL and a couple of the Lavergne men.

  • #1,637
Do we have any sort of confirmation that it's his? Like any known connections to those listed as family members on this Brandon Laverne's FB page?

Brandon Laverne is on BSL's mom's friend list.

He drove his truck to Texas, set it on fire in San Jacinto county, and reported it stolen in Montgomery County(Spring is in Mont county). He filed a claim with an agent in Spring and got the voucher for the rental car. I'm guessing that he stayed in Tx, but we don't know his alibi for being there in the first place.

New to this case.

Just wondering what the consensus is on the following:

It has been said that Mickey's bike had evidence that it had been hit by the truck. Do people feel like:

1. The hit was an accident, but Mickey got hurt, and BSL tried to "cover his tracks."
2. Again, the hit was an accident, but BSL took advantage of the situation and assaulted and then hurt Mickey.
3. BSL hit Mickey on purpose knowing exactly what he wanted to do with her.

Just wondering!

The police said in the press conference that BSL appeared to be driving around looking for someone to victimize. What are the odds that someone driving around looking for a female to victimize would just happen to accidentally hit a beautiful young female who is all alone? #3.

Brandon Laverne is on BSL's mom's friend list.

That's really surprising, given that (to my knowledge, anyway) RSOs are supposedly legally prohibited from having social media accounts. Would he really be so stupid as to maintain an account and have his mother linked?
