do we know where the truck is now? did they bring it back to LA? also what remains after a truck is set on fire? is ther something towable left? i'm not familiar with fires other than in a fireplace for warmth or for cooking on a gas stove ;)

justwannahelp, without knowing the details of the truck fire, it would be impossible to determine the present condition. In the worse case scenario, there would be a metal frame, yet all combustible materials would be consumed by fire.

It was alleged that the tires treads were tested to compare to the Whiskey Bay tire tracks. Don't know that this fact or fiction, but if it is true, this would indicate that the truck burned out prematurely and may still contain forensic or other evidence.

LE hasn't released the exact location of the truck, other than sharing that it is involved in an arson investigation in TX.

Hey guys, sorry I've been so scarce lately, between work and buying a house (yea!!!), I haven't had as much of a chance to post here, but I've been keeping up through the news and my SIL. When my mom called me and told me there was an arrest, I was absolutely shocked. It's frustrating not having more information, and that's where my question comes in. I know in some cases, like the Casey Anthony one, we had a lot of information before the trial. Is that because of Florida's laws, or is that something we can expect here too?

I so hoped that when an arrest came, Mickey would too. This is hurting her family and friends so much. Please let them get the closure they so desperately need.

Anthony info was due to the Florida Sunshine Law. Congratulations on your house :woohoo:

I see some rather disturbing photos of the aftermath of vehicle/bicycle accidents, but I see nothing which offers any sort of clues as to the position of either the vehicle or the bike before or at the exact point of impact.

It's difficult to determine what happened unless there are some "before" pics. For one, it's highly likely (almost guaranteed) that both the vehicle and the bike involved in each situation had moved after impact. The vehicle likely rolled tens of feet, even in the act of stopping suddenly. And this, of course, would likely leave the rider either beside or behind the vehicle, if not directly on top of it.

And to your second point, yes, Craft stated that they feel strongly that she was taken "somewhere between St. Landry & St. Mary and Blackham Coliseum".

BBM: Not necessarily. A close friend was recently killed by a drunk driver while riding his bike. He initially flew onto the hood of the car then was thrown forward into a nearby ditch. According to forensics, witness testimony and admission of the driver, the car was traveling approximately 55-60mph when he was hit. Also, to those who say if she were hit, there would be blood or debris at the scene...not necessarily. I'm thinking BSL was going far slower than 55-60mph, and even at that rate of speed, there were no open injuries/wounds noted on my friend. He died when his brain dislodged and slammed into his skull. All internal wounds. :(

If LE knew for sure where she was hit and especially if she went under the truck, wouldn't there have been a crime scene set up?

I am now wondering if they do in fact have her on video being hit...they are being vague about where they believe she was "taken"-so either they do not know, or are just keeping it quiet, although not sure what the reason would be at this point.

Hope this works. We would of went nuts had we known. Look directly behind BL's house. I count 4 and google shows 5, but I couldn't get house and garage/barn in the same pic for some reason.

Link worked but I don't know what I'm supposed to be counting. :blushing:

My thoughts have been that the damage to the bike came from disposal. I think those was so unplanned, damage control was more like it. My thoughts are she had to stop because she was ill. She had been not feeling well. I think she fought and fought hard. I wonder if LE has the actual stop and her fighting him, thus the kidnapping/murder one. They know for a fact she did not go willingly.

We got so spoiled with the Casey Anthony Trail, its hard sometimes not to wonder why in we aren't privy to everything. Honestly, if MS is not found, he doesn't talk, if they have a tape/footage showing the pick up point, the reasonable assumption with MS not found is that this is where her final moments began, there is no other person who saw MS after this point. IMHO.
and pure conjecture but right now, thats all we have with the missing pieces.

BBM I had previously thought that was a possibility as well until Chief Craft said this in the presser on Thursday:
On May 26, Mickey’s bike was located under the Whiskey Bay Bridge on I-10 with damage to the rear tire consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

and

Q: How much information (inaudible) bike?
A: Uhm, the bike was consistent – the rear rim was consistent with being struck by a vehicle and …

One more thing -- and I swear I'm NOT picking on you, Kelly, because I've seen this said plenty of times.

I'm curious about the source of this information. IIRC, and I could totally be wrong, it was BW in a television interview not long after she went missing. That he was basically saying that she wasn't drinking that night because she wasn't feeling well.

I'm just wondering if his comment about her not drinking (and again, I could be remembering this wrong) has grown legs of its own and morphed into the possibility of her being sick.

can someone link the Q&A press release so that everyone can be sure to read. I think there were some answers in the Q&A that put some speculations to rest.

right. she wasn't drinking due to drinking alot the night before celebrating with her sister who came in from out of town. you know when you are brain dead after a night of drinking and just don't want to drink the next day. i think that is what she was going through. not a real illness. i believe Brettley informed everyone of this in the very beginning

Anthony info was due to the Florida Sunshine Law. Congratulations on your house :woohoo:

The Sunshine law, that's what I thought. Darn it.

Thanks for the congrats! We haven't closed yet, but we just had a great inspection, so with no hiccups, we close on the 31st!

The picture with the scar is not the most recent mugshot. That is from previous arrest. The picture of him in which he looks slimmer, is actually the most recent.

That's definately incorrect. The one with the scar is on the Sheriff's website as his booking picture.

is there map of all of this? I started one but I am getting confused. Between where he lives, where she was taken from, where the truck was found burned. etc. I thought I saw one earlier but heck I could be looking until sundown and still not find it.
I find it weird that he drove away from everyplace to dump the bike but it would be like a loop from lafeytte to Montgomery County To Spring TX to his home...weird

Bringing this over from the last thread:

Things I'd love to add to the timeline (a girl can dream on some of these):

1. When the woman at the dealership reported that he'd altered his license.

2. When he purchased his new vehicle.

3. His exact work schedule.

4. What port he worked out of.

5. What was seen on the video from the Advertiser cameras (and at what time).

6. Where (Houston or Lafayette) he returned his rental car.
I have confirmation from the OP that he returned the rental car in Lafayette.

I will go back and look in the first few threads. IIRC there was another family member who said she was not feeling well the day before. I will see what I can find.

And I understand what you are saying about the bike and presser. I just can't fathom there would be nothing left behind, no glass from the headlights, lights on her bike, nothing. It just doesn't make sense there is nothing. I went back and viewed BayoBecky's video's of the routes and it doesn't appear that the streets on any route she possible took were dirty or lots of trash. Its just one the unanswered questions.

And I have been intently reading everyone's theories about her being hit, speed he may have had to be going, how she possibly could have hit the truck etc. I have no personal experience with bike/auto accidents but it seems logical that something like a truck weighing a ton would hit a bike would cause massive damage to the bike and leave something behind. I just have hard time wrapping my head around it.

Kelly

***EDITED TO ADD The presser released said the damage would trigger the assumption she was hit from behind, however they could not say that definitively barring further tests. For some reason I can not post the link here but it is on findymickeynow.com site. I did not locate anything saying the tests were back and it was conclusive, do you have a link for updates?

Clearly I've stated I'm from Australia another country do I am unaware of your local knowledge and what is considered
To be normal. I was simply stating some examples as to how bsl got back to tx or home when his vehicle was "stolen/burnt" I wasn't asking for a debate or criticism.

It is my understanding that this is a discussion board where people post ideas and others may discuss them. That is what I have seen going on here. I gave my opinion that I don't believe taking a taxi is a viable means of BSL going anywhere from Sam Houston national forest.

I think one of the rules here is not to tell
others what to post. I am not criticizing you
or debating you. I am utilizing my right to post
and discuss various opinions.

Okay, that's how I took it. "Not feeling well" = "hangover" in college speak.
