I don't see how a truck that was on fire could be missed. I would think a blazing truck would have been reported by at least someone, right? I mean that had to be a pretty big blaze.

From what I have heard is that this place is desert bush land from locals who say that is it impossible for a cab to pick him up from there, so because of this I'm going to say that its very possible that someone may have not seen it

So cute!! If only Nancy Grace were as clever as Nancy Drew! And no, you didn't miss anything. WS posters know far more about this case than she does. I kept yelling at my TV:
The white-out on his license is important!

so what did he do between the 26th and 31st if his truck was burned and he had not yet rented a car? this is the FIRST time i think he may have visited a friend

Did he spend time with his girlfriend?

I am confused...what is the significance of the 26th, re: the truck being burned?

I thought it was reported stolen and found on the same day, the 31st, and for some reason, I thought it was reported by people who saw it burning. Did I read that wrong someplace?

Mickey Shunick's father on "hope" as News2 learns more about Lavergne's past
More at link

Thanks for the link. Some answers on bsl divorce which was 2000, wife claiming he hit her and tried to smother her finally some answers yay. They were married for about a year and we know they had 2 kids. Hmm could it possible it's the same Gf that he was with when he sexually abused the girl in 1999 which was his Gf cousin, actually I'd say If this information is correct it would be the same Gf/wife

i know it has happened in the past, but WHY would or does a perp go to the searches???

personally, i don't think BSL did. i think he seemed the type to want to be done with it. i don;t think he wanted to dwell on the murder, JMO

Maybe to dispose of items in areas already searched?

I do not believe he had any accomplices and also do not think he was very smart about anything at all.

What is clever about not thinking about video cameras when he decides to kidnap a woman on a city street? Or burning his truck, reporting it stolen and allegedly renting a car in his own name in the same place the truck was found? Or trying to buy a new one with an altered license? These are all of things that led to him being caught. I am not understanding where his cleverness is coming into it, if he has any. If anything, he was "smart" enough to know he couldn't leave a live victim to testify against him this time.

ETA: I wouldn't refer to anyone who helped him without knowing, i.e. let him sleep over, as an "accomplice" That would make families accomplices all the time.

He burned the truck in San Jacinto Co, reported it stolen in Montgomery Co, and contacted insurance/rented car in Harris Co.

"Also Monday, News2 obtained his divorce papers where his ex-wife claims she was abused.
The couple divorced in October 2000, barely a year after getting married. The woman claims she was hit, and that Lavergne tried to smother her."

She's lucky she made it out of the marriage (and the divorce) alive. This guy was all kinds of scary & no good. I'm glad he's been taken off the streets (not that there aren't more like him out there), but sad Mickey (and maybe others) couldn't be protected from him.

Somebody posted, a long time ago, an 'example' article of a stolen white GMC truck found burned in a Texas forest. It was not THEE truck, but their point in posting it was to show that it happened a lot. And in that case, the truck was found stripped and still burning. Maybe it stuck in your clap-trap memory banks.

Ok you lost me. Say that again?

eta: Are you asking if he ended up getting married to his victim's cousin? I want to say they had already broken up when he attacked her cousin. I'd have to go look it up.

eta: Yep, they'd already broken up. Doesn't mean they didn't get back together, who knows. Here is part of the report: "She said that she never did see his face but the voice was similar to that of her cousin's former boyfriend. She only knew him as Brandon and that he was in the Military stationed at Fort Polk. She said that Brandon had a distinctive voice and if anyone heard it they would remember it."

Don't people search in pairs, or in a line, in these organized searches?
How much could one really get away with?
Of course I am sure anything is possible, but I doubt he bothered to go on any searches. He probably knew they were not close on the foot searches and he couldn't really show up at WB, not knowing what LE knew by then, and that was an LE search anyway.

So do we not know the circumstances of his truck being found? i.e. did someone stumble upon it, already cold, or was it still burning?

Ok you lost me. Say that again?

In an interview with the victim of the rape, in which he climbed in a bedroom window and blindfolded and hogtied the poor girl, she said that she thought she recognized the voice of her rapist. It sounded like her cousin's boyfriend. And guess what---Brandon was the boyfriend of the poor girl's cousin. But I am not sure if that is the girlfriend that he married, but I don't think so. Or they would have said 'wife' and not girlfriend.

Usually comes across in the Direct Bill authorization from the insurance company. Statistics show that 90%+ of all thefts are recovered within 48 hours of being stolen. Therefore as a service, if the vehicle is found in 48 hours or less we don't bill the insurance company.

One side question, whenever we have a customer claiming a rental was stolen, the first question we ask every time is does the customer have the keys ? I wonder if BSL still had his truck keys ?
Then the date, 05/31/2012, came from the insurance company per the incident report. Right? So what did you mean when you said he might have lied about the date?

I apologize for all of the questions. The date the truck was reported stolen is an important detail that we haven't been able to pin down because different sources have reported conflicting information.

http://montgomerycountypolicereporter.com/?p=47925

"The same day the bicycle was found, the white Chevrolet Z-71pickup now believed to have been used in the crime, was reported stolen in Montgomery County, Texas by the truck’s owner, a 33-year-old registered sex offender named Brandon Scott Lavergne, of Lawtell, Louisiana. At the time, Texas authorities had no reason to suspect anything sinister. On May 31, the truck was found burned in San Jacinto County."

There are no media reports detailing when the truck was actually found. San Jacinto Co has a newspaper that only comes out once a week, and it's not available online.

Did you request Frenchbeaux when you went to Charley G's? I worked there for 2 yrs - almost 15 yrs ago though! ;~)

This person worked there as recently as ~5-6 years ago. But it's still possible you waited on me prior to my moving to Houston in '99. I'm a big CG's fan. Dude just does it right.
