How could this be so? If she was tied up somewhere, even with food & water, she'd be unable to eat or drink. The only 2 situations I can think of where she may be still alive would be if there is a second person involved who is feeding her or he secured her in a cabin/camp somewhere with food & water, then locked her in and boarded up all the windows. Now in hurricane country you may find a camp with shutters that would make that task easier.

People can't survive without food & water for several months.

Praying for the Shuniks, for LE, for the Lavergne family, for our comminty, and even BSL. May all find some sort of peace and comfort in their lives, and may justice prevail.

Yes, I know that people can't survive without food & water for several months. I'm not stupid! I was clearly just stating my own opinion. It doesn't hurt to hope for a miracle. Without hope there is nothing! :banghead:

Very good point. There's no telling where she is, anywhere between there and where his truck was found in Texas. :(

I just wonder if a body were burned in a truck, wouldn't there be bone chips left, as in cremation? I wonder if a victim's DNA could be determined from bone chips?

I just called and reported the information.

Thank you so much! I can't imagine how difficult this must be for all the families involved. You just never know what tiny piece of information may be key.

I am a relative of BL. I know that his birth sister lives in Spring, TX, right next to Montgomery county. I also think that his birth mother lives in the area as well. Not sure if the police know about this or not. Not sure if they know he has had some contact with his birth family members, but I know that several months ago he was saying he was going to visit his real sister and mother.

I really want to know more about the evidence they have against him. So many people want answers including myself. I certainly believe he is capable of the crime, but I would like to know more evidence than what they have released, it all seems so circumstantial. I have considered calling the police and telling them about his relationship with his birth sister in the area if there is some sort of connection. I'm not sure why else he would have chose Montgomery county as the place to come and ditch the truck.

When a family member spoke to BL after the arrest, one of the things he said was, "they did it to me again" which i take as him stating that he was wrongfully accused again.

Don't lash out at me I'm not defending anybody just want to know more like everyone else. And i think the reason for the police withholding information is to try to keep the trial in Lafayette which in my opinion is ridicules because there is no chance in hell he would receive a fair trial there.

Someguy- Just thanking your post didn't seem enough.

I want to tell you that we are appreciative of you and your willingness to share insight that only family would know. This has to be horrible to be sucked into a case as a family and not having answers.

Your posts are valuable and respected. I hope you will be a vocal part of this discussion and help piece this puzzle together. Would you mind if we ask you questions about Brandon, his behaviors and actions relating to his involvement? The admins for WS can verify you as a relative (for credibility purposes). Would you mind, being verified?

Again, thank you and please know that your family is also in our prayers.

We are all together in our common goal of bringing Mickey home.

Does the state of Lousiana have the death penalty?

I just called and reported the information.

Hi, Im curious regarding BSL's first conviction. I hope it's not intrusive of me to ask. I'd like to know if your family believed BSL was innocent of his first conviction as he seems to believe that. Or if BSL is one of those people who believe they never do anything wrong. We all have those in our lives who do nothing wrong. Just curious and felt it might provide us information on BSL's personality. Thank you for sharing what you have already with us. If my question is too personal I understand completely and it's ok if you don't answer.

Thanks and welcome to WebSleuths

Yes it does. I personally do not believe in the death penalty. JMO. I believe only God has the right to take a person's life. I also believe that all offenders should be made to work for the common good of the community and pay back to society for all they have taken away from it..although one can never compensate for murder. :moo:

Let’s try something different, how about a Twitter &/or Facebook campaign — 140 characters or less:

To the lawyers of Brandon Scott Lavergne: Please, please find a way to convince your client to divulge the whereabouts of #MickeyShunick.

Or construct your own request...

The reason I asked if the state of Lousiana had the DP is because I was trying to figure out this creeps thinking pattern. If Lousiana didn't have the DP I was wondering why in the world he would come to Texas with her body because the state of Texas has a motto here. If you come to the state of Texas and kill someone, we will kill you back.

I am sadly beginning to think that Mickey was in his truck when he burned it. It would make no sense to burn the truck unless you are trying to hide something. If LE are able to find bone fragments or even teeth they should be able to get the DNA off them even if they had been in intense heat. I would still hold on to my theory that he has her hidden some place but it makes no sense to burn the truck. I just hope they are able to find some sort of answers soon for her poor family.

Let's wait until after the Grand Jury on July 18th and we know more about the case. We know he entered a plea deal back in 2000, so I'm convinced he will hold out for a similar plea bargain this time around and most likely, in exchange for information as to Mickey Shunick's location. JMO

My bold above. Well, I hope there are some "normal" people who can understand their sick minds.

Unfortunately, I have seen very few "professionals" who make "normal" decisions on their sick behavior.

It seems like most of those on television are in it for their own selfish fame and fortune, and not justice.

I agree about the tv pundits. Most seem to not have a clue, nor do they seem to want one.. I was told by one of these tv pundits that the spiritual side of profiling was sheer nonsense.

Actually concentric, there are those that have & do enter into the darkness of these evil minds. But they are far & few in between. Imo, they are very few around today that are in the same league with John Douglas, Roger L. Depue, or Robert Ressler. Other FBI agents at Quantico referred too the BSU as the witches unit, due their low light underground office, & ability to accurately profile the unsubs, etc..

“JOURNEY INTO DARKNESS” BY JOHN DOUGLAS(1997); Author and FBI BSU Profiler. He penetrates the minds and motives of the most terrifying Serial Killers. He is one of the pioneers of the FBI’s Elite BSU and many of the techniques, strategies, and procedures used in tracking and identifying unidentified subjects today can be attributed to his experiences & journey into the abys or darkness…

Prologue: ‘In the Mind of a Killer’

'This isn’t the Hollywood version. It isn’t sanitized or prettied up or rendered into art. This is the way it really happens. If anything, it’s worse than the way I describe it'…

'AS I HAD SO MANY TIMES BEFORE, I PUT MYSELF IN THE MIND OF THE KILLER'..

He goes on to say that he also puts his head into the heads of the victim to be able to see the whole tragic picture….

This experience could cause a strong minded person to cry a river of tears.

As does Priests that perform multiple exorcisms, Agent Douglas, and others paid a hefty price with their health, even though they possessed a very high tolerance level, due to the enormous ‘evil’ they routinely encountered…

No way the truck fire would burn hot enough for long enough to 'cremate' a body.

They would have known there was a body immediately.

'JenniferTx, although TX may lead the nation in executions. Considering the number of prisoners on death row, very few are actually carried out for political and financial reasons. The trend is that executions will be even more rare in the near future.

The motto is only hollow words without true meaning...Do the math..

Year-By-Year Texas Death Row Statistics

Table 1 shows the year-by-year population of death row from 1974 to the present. In the table, "Died" includes all death row prisoners who died by any cause other than execution. This includes deaths by natural causes, accidents, suicide, murder, and death during attempted escape. The "Removed" column counts those prisoners who were removed from death row, including overturned convictions, reduced sentences, commutations, pardons, and transfers to federal custody.

In my honest opinion, she was not in that truck. They had a burnt car a few months ago around the Breaux Bridge area (15-20 minutes from Lafayette) down a road alongside the interstate. In the trunk, they found the bones of a body. I never heard anything more on the story, and I'm not sure they ever even followed up.

But the fact is, i saw pictures of the vehicle, and there was nothing left to it, yet the bones/teeth still remained in tact. I don't think a burnt vehicle will get rid of bone remains. It is still not as hot as a crematory. They always seem to find bone in any charred vehicle.

The police said that evidence found at the home is what made them to believe she was no longer alive. At least, that is what I heard. I never heard them mention anything interesting about the vehicle making them believe that she wasn't alive.

EGirl, we are not privy to the information as to whether the DWT was a total loss or was extinguished before it was fully engulfed in flames. Hopefully it was extinguished rapidly, but the info released indicates otherwise..

The burners will get cremation chamber's temperature up to 850 F

Is the Louisiana arson registry a public database and when the law was passed, did they make it retroactive?
