On topix in Eunice, on July 11th, posted that he was at Opelousas General with cuts on his hand and a possible bite mark and covered in poison ivy but the poison ivy was so bad that they couldn't treat the cuts.

Oh, they may not choose me, but I know I'd do a good job.... probably a heck of a lot more impartial than plenty of people around Lafayette who don't know anyone in the family.

Plenty of folks talk a good game to get on a jury and then vote their agenda.

O.J. et al.

I hear ya chicken! You probably WILL make a great juror for another case!:therethere:
But for now, I know I really enjoy reading your posts while you are here with us!

Haven't been following the whole thread, but, I just have to say, when I look at this guys mug shots (BSL) I do not see an attractive man, as others have said. I see a depraved mind. He is seething with anger, and is furious about being caught. Even the picture of him smiling makes me kind of sick to my stomach. Such a devious smile. IMO

This is not the face those he was trying to impress saw. Some women said he was charming.

Does anyone know BSL place of birth? and time of birth?

He was adopted so his records are sealed. He has met his birth mother according to some local posters. Not sure about his bio dad.
If someone did find his birth certificate, it would give the where and what time though.

Thanks for those links, Bessie!

I agree it all looks pretty suspicious.

On the driver's license thing, I was just at the Motor Vehicle office today. As you know, in LA you can get a license on the spot. It's not a sure thing that the license he reported stolen was the same one he used to buy the truck. In fact, if he's trying to make his assault story hold up, and having to drive for work, he well may have gone to get another one right away.

Does anyone know when they started putting "SEX OFFENDER" on the licenses? As another poster mentioned, if he got his old one in '08 when released from prison, maybe it didn't have the scarlet letter. Maybe he was pissed off that his new one had it, and so he hastily covered it up?

In answer to your question about when SEX OFFENDER started being put on La. Licenses---12/12/2006

If he was just out a family member probably came to pick him up and brought some clothing. Different places do that different ways. Sometimes clothing is donated for men who are leaving prison and they get to choose (but not very much, Salvation Army stuff think).

I don't think the clothes is that big of a deal. The drawing is pretty darn close. Also, not to be crass, but generally men leaving prison have one thing on their mind. It would not surprise me at all if his mind set was to leave prison, head straight to New Orleans. It is a common destination in Louisiana for trouble--if ya know what I mean. This type of crime is exactly what I think he is capable of. Interesting that the DNA did not match (if it did not. That is surprising. If I was the investigator on that case, I would request that it be run again -- the sketch and the timing are too coincidental). nice find to whoever found that. I bet there are about 72 more.
There was no male DNA! Guess he remember the washcloth that time (IF he did it! )

In and of itself, the truck being stolen could be believeable, but when taken with everything else we know which has been verified, I think any plausibility goes out the window. As to the whole assault story, I know it is often said that fact is stranger than fiction, but I would rate the believability of that story to be somewhere between slim and none, with slim already having left the building. JMO

Children, children, children. If they have the GPS it is all trackable. Down to WHO was driving. think about it for a second: Driving habits. Does the driver slow down or stop at stop signs How fast do they respond at a green light, how many miles over the speed limit to they generally drive? If a GPS was in the truck or in the rental car or whatever -- forensics can pin down exactly who was driving based on their habits.

His goose is cooked. He ain't gettin out of nothin. The best thing he could do is tell where her body is for the family. His mom and brother who have certainly been through hell too deserve him to tell where the body is so they also can have some peace. The sooner the body is found the sooner the grief process can start and the sooner the healing can begin. He is guilty of murder whether they find the body or not - it is not going to help him by hiding the body. Both his mothers and brothers should tell him -- just tell the truth -- it is horrible anyway it goes but at least with the truth we can try to start mending our lives. The only hope he has with a jury is to tell the truth. If not for him, for the people who have supported him with money and love all these years. He at least owes them the ability to start healing.

OK, I just checked the law. The law that requires the "sex offender" notice on the driver's license was passed in 2006.

At least judging from my own license, LA driver licenses are good for 4 years. (My last one was issued on my b-day in '09 and is good through my b-day in '13.)

So... assuming he was never issued a license in prison for the purposes of running a vehicle around he was working on, and assuming he hadn't been allowed to renew his old one when it expired while in prison, he would have had to get a new one upon his release in '08 - and so it would have had the notice.

Possibly, he had been covering up the "sex-offender" notice for awhile. As much as one uses one's license, it's not a pretty thing to have to keep handing people.

Chicken you would be awesome on a jury, in part because you are so analytical and have great attention to detail. That being said, you have done so much footwork and research on this case that if you were called for jury duty they would have to reject you.

People that have done investigation on their own would never be allowed to sit on a jury. Jurors are always advised during a trial not to do any investigation...you are only to go on what you hear in the trial... If, by some chance, you were seated for this trial, and the defense got wind of your footwork and investigation here (and trust me, attorneys DO read these forums, it hs been proven), that could very well lead to your dismissal and a mistrial.

How do we even know he had to get a new license? I'm SURE he was lying about his being stolen just as he lied about his injuries.

It also says for RSO's (I think) that renewals have to be done in tandem with the sheriff's office???

After watching this video, and hearing that the Church was just 1 1/2 miles from BSL's home, and after hearing that BSL started attending the Church again out of nowhere recently, I am going to throw this out there.

Mickey's remains may be located somewhere on those Church Grounds.

In the recent case of Summer Inman, her husband and his parents abducted Summer, killed her, and put her remains in their Church's Septic Tank. It doesn't get any more vile than that. The Inman's did heavily participate in the Church along with the repairs and maintenance of the Church, mind you.

Why the sudden interest in the CHURCH? Is Mickey there?

It seems to me that if he reported it stolen he would have gone through with the subterfuge and gotten a new one. If he still thought he was going to get away with it, he probably would have realized that a license of a sex offender being reported stolen would be written up somewhere and so it would be in his best interest to get another one.... which would also have been useful in renting a car a couple weeks later.

They also have to register their vehicles...and their routes to and from work...

"Description of every vehicle registered to or operated by you including license plate number and copy of drivers license..."
"Name and physical address of employment, including travel routes used"

I disagree about the "thrill factor" in this particular case. Everything he seems to have done after (allegedly) kidnapping Mickey seems to show acts of haste and panic to me. None of it was done well.

I agree, cluciano63...
An old quote from way back; 'The writing was on the Wall'...

The Mickey Schunick investigation & search, shall we say exceeded his wildest imagination or expectations.
I am confident he was badly thrown off his game when Mickey courageously fought him and injured him requiring urgent medical care.

Then the FBI BAU2, US Marshals, Homeland Security, half the Sheriffs Depts. in the Lafayette area, Texas Equusearch, K9 SARs, 1000's of citizens volunteers from the La community, as well as one of the most viral media campaigns for awareness in missing persons history. Normally after a few days, the media packs up & moves on, searches are discontinued, and the family is left holding the bag..
'Not so in Mickey Schunick's case..The determination & perserverance by her family, LPD, and the community & beyond only gained momentum'..

Next her bike was located, then his DWT was plastered for all to see, etc..

Brandon Scott Lavergne, choked imo.. His dominoes were falling.. For the first time in his life he was feeling remorse.. "Remorse due to the proverbial noose rapidly tightening around his already injured neck"..

Wonder where he got the poison ivy? Could be a clue.

Wow!!! :what: Do you have a link please? This could really help in finding Mickey...I'm wondering if he moved her to another location deep in a wooded area and got himself in a hot mess. This guy is a magnet for trouble - kinda glad to think of him suffering with cuts and a bite and then itching like mad with poison ivy.

No problem. I've been thinking about it for some time.

I'm not positive how things were conducted at Avoyelles in 2008, but at least now, visitors are forbidden from wearing white t-shirts and jeans, lest they be confused with inmates. The person of interest in the Jessica Hawk case was wearing jeans and a white shirt with a shorter-sleeved black shirt over the white.

Clothing that is similar in appearance to the clothing worn by the unit’s offender population (i.e. blue chambray shirts and gray or white sweatshirts are not allowed. Male visitors are not allowed to wear white t-shirts in combination with blue jeans.)

http://doc.la.gov/pages/correctional-facilities/avoyelles-correctional-center/

I know that very, very few men would be so fashion-forward as to wear jeans and a white t-shirt (ha), but again- I'm adding it to my pile of information that will likely amount to nothing.

The only thing that ever stood out to me about the description of that clothing was that anyone would wear two shirts on an August day in New Orleans. It was about 90 degrees here on August 9, 2008.

Imagine how the investigation would have gone, had the bike not been revealed by the falling water level.... no evidence it was hit by a truck....less emphasis on checking all the cameras.... less hope for the searchers, ergo a fading public profile..... ergo people not paying attention....ergo less pressure to hide the truck...ergo no need to buy a new one....ergo no dealership employee calling in the altered license.... yada yada.
