Fractured hyoid bone.

But doesnt it seem that they would have noticed a fractured hyoid bone when they found her in 1999? They were unable to determine a cause of death then. I tend to believe there is something else that leads them to their conclusion. JMO

Just taking a guess, but it seems that even though they have not found Mickey's body, it may still be their strongest case (maybe due to technology, cell phone pings, gps, maybe video evidence). If that is true, I would think Mickey's case would be tried before Lisa Pate's. JMO

I'm not real seasoned with criminal law stuff, so why possibly 2 years until trial!!?? Goodness, that is going to be awful for the Shunicks to have to drag this on for another 2 years :( possibly longer if they don't recover her body.

They could have known the COD back then, but didn't release it for investigative purposes.

Or, it could be chronicled in some way and they just found that information.

Sounds like someone is talking. How could you determine a COD of asphyxiation on a corpse that had outside decomposing for a couple of months?

Fractured hyoid bone, maybe?

ETA: Oooops, sorry -- I echoed

Do not mean to speculate, but since his involvement with Lisa Pate was quickly ruled out so long ago, can we say for certain that the whole day it took LE to rule out any connection between Mickey and Lauren Spierer might also be being overlooked?

I know in the case of Lauren, it was said that the white truck on surveillance was questioned, and he was "picking up a friend that night". Was it like how he was "visiting a friend" in New Orleans when he was mugged?

a picture maybe?

speaking of evidence, did they ever say for sure that they had DNA evidence of Mickey?

A different breed of serial killer, would you say, Foxfire?

BSL is really unsophisticated compared to other serial killers or should I say dumber...

Or maybe a new expert took a look

He was dumb when he killed Mickey, but he has remained undetected prior to that other than his RSO status and conviction, of course. But, it is likely there were other victims and that went undetected.

Something threw him off that night.

No, I don't believe they have said that.

Latest from the Cajunet™ says that a human bone -- thought to be part of the hand -- was discovered during the recent search of his trailer/property. No link, so treat as hearsay and nothing more.

I'd like to think that Mickey put up one hell of a fight!

oh, i know what else i've been wanting to ask y'all. i see everyone writing about his "alibi" being in NOLA getting robbed and stabbed, but i thought an alibi was verified whereabouts at the EXACT time of a crime.

he was in NOLA many hours after Mickey was last seen, so I don't see how that's an alibi. i know no one really believes it, but people are thinking he did the whole NOLA thing to have an alibi, but that doesn't make sense. i mean if he was in NOLA at 1:55 am then yeah that would be an alibi.

Agreed, justwannahelp, BSL went to NOLO to seek treatment simply utilizing jurisdictional linkage blindness to prevent tying him to the Mickey Schunick abduction. His Nolo ruse had nothing to do with establishing an alibi.

Grand Jury to Decide if Enough Evidence in Shunick Case
http://www.katc.com/videos/grand-jury-to-decide-if-enough-evidence-in-shunick-case/

Imo the alibi seed was planted by the 'clueless attorney'; Thomas Gilbo interviewed by KATC TV 3 who said then he was also going to say that the truck being stolen and burned in TX, was to show that the persons that stole the truck were the ones responsible for Mickey Schunick's abduction..

"Imo, Mr. Gilbo, may want to do a fact check or two on the websleuths timeline & get his facts straight before he advises Chief Craft to keep his mouth shut"

Well duh, BSL had his RSO interview 9 days after her abduction and was still driving the DWT on May 28, 2012...

Oddly enough a lot of serial killers aren't that bright...there are exceptions, TB comes to mind.

No matter their IQ their lust for killing often takes over and they get sloppy or more traceable.

I heard that thru the cajunnet as well

Yep, and the more victims they take, the closer LE gets to them because with each crime, they learn more.

Very good point..In some cases they keep certain info under wraps knowing only certain people (the killer) would know..

Yeah, I plugged into Cajunet™ Online * and saw that, LOL

* ETA: Just editing to say -- nope, that's not a real web site, I was jokingly referring to a site (by another name) that I don't believe I can link here. Apparently sent at least one person off looking for it, so -- I am so sorry for any confusion!
