I think there was a reason for the grips being taken off. I think it was a deliberate act in an attempt to hide evidence. Maybe just her fingerprints, but I think he took them off with a purpose.

All I know for sure is that she fought. She fought him hard and had him scared. For some reason, that gives me comfort. In some ways, she got the best of him.

In the back of my mind I've always thought it was possible that the (at that time unknown) perp walked the bike or picked it up by the grips and thought by separating them from the bike, they'd be tougher to find.

But this was back in the single digit threads. I guess I don't think it's completely impossible, even now.

Except if that was the reason, he could have dumped them anywhere between Lafayette & Texas. It's a puzzle.

I'm guessing that if the grips were submerged underwater (with the bike), perhaps that would have made them loosen up and come off.....waters cold and plastic grips shrink and expand based on conditions, no?

Well, in theory maybe, but I don't think it would actually be so easy in practice. Plain luke warm water of WB just wouldn't do it in my opinion. No, he took those grips off and it apparently took great effort. I don't know what was in his mind, but if I went through all the trouble of taking them off, AND if I were a firebug, I would have burned them.

respectfully snipped for focus

I think I understand now why the thread has become such a mess.

Sources tell me that there is a lot of cross-blog posting going on, including some of the discussion last night that got me confused. Posters here who are also viewing other blogs are taking rumors from those blogs and discussing them here between themselves in front of other WS posters - basically having a private conversation in public that those of us who are not participating in this cross-blog posting cannot follow.

:star: Bulls:bullseye:eye! :star1:

It's one of the main reasons why we take a tough stance on rumors around here.

AND read over the timeline, presser, and pertinent msm articles that have kindly been linked on page one.

I don't really mind directing people back to the first page of the thread. We ran out of new info a dozen threads back, so we're all rehashing the same stuff, looking at it from different angles.

Some folks pop in on their lunch break and don't have hours to read.

It's probably just me, but I'm OK with questions.

I've said this before, but I think that it's possible BSL removed the grips to cause the bike to sink more quickly. The Schwinn handlbars are hollow (photo is of a Schwinn handlebar with no grips), and if he removed the grips, the bike and the grips should theoretically sink more quickly, although I did read that Mr. Shunick said the handlegrips were found floating (don't know if that's true). Another poster (wish I remembered who) had a very good theory that BSL may have removed the handlegrips to hide blood evidence that may have been trapped inside them.

We don't know for a fact that BL's injuries came from Mickey; it is simply comforting, somewhat, to think so. He could have been injured disposing of the bike and/or Mickey, and he could have been in a fight, for all we know, if not attacked in daylight at a gas station. Anyway, we just don't know.

We also don't know if he had any contact with anyone from the time he took Mickey until he got to the hospital, as far as someone tending to his wounds, or telling him he needed to go to a hospital, etc...

If he had removed the grips due to evidence, why leave them right there to be found? That makes no sense at all. If the grips were removed, and it is not a misunderstanding that Mr. Shunick was somehow told this, I can't think of any good reason for it, and also leave them behind. They would not have slipped off in a struggle with the bike.

As far as seeing his hands tomorrow-he has had 2+ plus of healing time, so there may not be much to see.

I did read other threads last night, but only after I figured out where they were by references here. Mickey's story has broken my heart since I first heard of her in May. For some reason, I couldn't shake her. I identified with her. I identified with her mother. I couldn't help thinking, "What if it were K?" (my daughter)

I was totally in awe of the fact there was a website completely devoted to the missing. I stumbled upon WS through Facebook. I stumbled upon the other websites through WS.

I read through what others were saying on other websites, and because I've been here reading for a while now, I understood rumor was not allowed, and should never, ever be posted.

Having said that, I will tell you, I did read those sites. I was terribly disappointed. It just seemed to me to be a bunch of locals airing everyone's dirty laundry with no respect for the truth.

If I came back to WS and inadvertently posted something I shouldn't have, I truly apologize. Rarely do I ever care what rumor has to say about anyone or anything. The past has shown me that everyone has their own story to tell, and it's usually to their advantage.

In short, I don't care about small town politics in Church Point. I don't think there's a big conspiracy to protect BSL in Church Point. I don't think anyone was bullied into keeping his secrets. I don't believe any of that. In fact, I believe if one of those people had information to put him away, they would have.

What I do believe is that there is a child missing. I believe she met up with horror that we, as parents, only have nightmares about. I believe she is out there and she is so easy to find that no one can find her. I also believe we are all here because we all feel that way.

If I have offended anyone, I am sorry. It was never my intention. If any of you knew me, you would understand that is not what I am about. Having said that, if I feel someone else needs defending, I'll defend them. I can't help it. It's who I am.

I think he may have been in a hurry to get rid of everything ......get the grips off in case the bike is found....throw everything in the water. I think he was hurt and needed to just end this whole thing. I'm thinking thats where he put Mickey also. I'm also wondering is any of those fishing camps around WB..or even the shore lines have been looked into? Maybe fishermen need to keep eyes open in case they find some bones near the shoreline.

I am not sure what you think you did wrong...as I did not notice anything in your earlier post. But in any case...WS really is the place to be, as if the occasional rumor does pop up, it is either removed, or explained by a verified local to BE nothing more than a rumor.

For me, the biggest issue with rumors or the like is that they somehow tend to get picked up as fact in future posts by other members who may not have read the part about it being a rumor. We all know some rumors end up being true, but here we try to wait for the media to say it before we consider it as a potential fact.

Anyway, please don't go away or stop posting.:seeya:

Honestly, I didn't think I did anything, either; however, based on what others have said, I began to think maybe I had. I just wanted to clear the air. Nothing more.

I love the hearts of all of you. What an amazing group of people! <3

I can't erase Mickeys face from my mind.

I can't imagine the joy people would feel if by some miracle, she returned home alive.
I think people would definitely hug their loved ones a little tighter for the rest of their lives.

But I think/hope they will do that regardless of the outcome of this case.

As in the Meredith Hope Emerson's abduction(GA-01/01/2008), many abduction & homicide victims fight their attackers if given an opportunity. Imo, due to the timeline and other known info, as well as deductive reasoning.
I feel that Mickey Schunick, knew BSL's intentions, what he has done in the past, and what he would do in the future.

Imo, she valiantly fought serial killer Brandon S. Lavergne with mind, body, soul, and spirit..

Due to many victims putting up a very fierce fight for their life in abduction attempts. It seems that the public would be advised by investigators to look for the sign of unexplained injuries; wounds, scratches, bitemarks, etc. among friends, neighbors, and family members in future abductions..

I had not seen the photo of Mickey with her dog that was posted a couple nights ago. It broke my heart. I do not know how anyone could take such a beautiful spirit from this world.

I don't know either but it happens every day unfortunately.

Mickey just has this personality to her face that makes you want to squeeze her, and have her in your life.

I know Brettly and he was an amazing friend to me. For him to have put so much effort into all of this, I know she was an amazing person.

I agree. That's why I don't understand why the handgrips were even removed. Why take them off and leave them in the same area?! I don't get it.

She may well have caused his injuries; but it is not something that is known to be a fact as yet, and in fact may never be known. I believe they did probably struggle and that she probably did have some chance to wound him, but I can't yet take it as fact.

I'm in Pennsylvania and I have no explanation for why this particular girl has held my attention.

One thing's for sure - by exposing the EFB for what he is, she won't soon be forgotten.

As a woman with a daughter, I'm grateful that she's brought him down.

As a woman with a daughter, I am heartsick that she had to.

I have a dog that hugs. When I saw that picture, it made me love Sweet Mickey even more. I promise you that when my Dottie-Dog hugs you, she MEANS it. Mickey's dog meant it, too. <3

Maybe the grips did just come off because of being in the water for a few days....but it is strange that they both would have come off the bike..and float close enuff together to be found?

I doubt you did anything reprehensible. Seems like it was a tense day.
