I watch Discovery ID all the time but must have missed this. Been perusing youtube today watching HBO: Autopsy and this was a related link. Documentary on DTL.
The Baton Rouge Serial Killer - YouTube

I watched the video you suggested and was thrown for a loop. There were so many similarities to BSL. Taking of the "trophys", cool cucumber, WB, and boy when I saw those power lines. The thing I was wondering, could BSL have also watched this video(maybe in prison)? Did he keep up with the case? Did he choose unsuspecting victims? In his own arrogant way did he want to be the next DTL? So many questions. :behindbar

I just started watching the DTL video, while insightful it's frustrating to watch. Thanks for sharing the video! Does anyone know what's the status of Equu Search? Are they still covering ground or did they report back to Texas? We are a bit in the dark about their status.

I agree that it's frustrating. It's a 45 min video which sums up years. I personally knew Dene from high school and this hurt to watch and rehash because of that. She was a smart pretty girl who I wish I would have stayed in touch with after high school. I suspect that Laverne has others that will be linked to with DNA. Time will tell. Whats more frustrating is Lavergne is just one and there will be more after him as there were ones before him. Like I said in an earlier post..... Bring on the brazen bull or iron maiden. Make an example of the sex predators to serve as examples.

If mickey attacked him and he had to kill her before planned that means he prob was thrown off an dumped the body fast ... Where ever he put her it would have to be an easy place with his finger being injured and being stabbed multiple times somewhere he could just dump and go ... Somewhere he is familiar with a place he knows no one goes to often but is easy to get to

With him cut, I wonder if that would make it easier for scent dogs to help in finding where he was and where Mickey might be...

You're doing a great job posting your cases here on Facebook. It is bitter sweet for me to see your overwhelming response, but it is sad to see so many lives affected by crime. Keep them coming -- our Social Media Manhunt Show will be on in a couple of weeks!

Your tips have done it again! Isaac Amos was arrested this morning in Florida thanks to an alert AMW viewer. Keep up the great work!

I just want to say, thank you, in bold for this! I was more familiar with the Bike Path Rapist case in Buffalo, NY.

If I were to state what the main revelation was in both the Baton Rouge Serial Killer case and the Bike Path Rapist case, it would be:

Ancestral DNA Profiling

Yes, it is controversial, but it is the solution. Amen.

When BSL went for his quarterly RSO evaluation, nine days after the abduction, LE obviously had no clue to the suspect in Mickey Schunick's abduction. Only a VOI of interest. Until the two public tips, LE was at square one, imo..and would still be today if not for an aware public..

Stranger on stranger sexual predator abductions are the most difficult to solve...

I was just sitting here thinking about this whole case... And it got me wondering, with all the media coverage and public awareness of Mickey's abduction and the search for the dwt... Why didn't the officer(s) that BSL reported to for his RSO evaluations look into whether or not any of the SO's he/she oversaw drove a truck fitting the voi's description??? They had to of been aware of her case, and the search for the truck owner... Statistics say these cases are usually sexually motivated, so why wouldn't they have checked their files and turned over the names of any offenders who drove that particular truck? I know there's a lot of white trucks out there, but the description they gave was pretty specific...
If it were me, I would've checked my files...
Along the same lines, why didn't anyone involved in BSL's life call him in? When the pics of the truck were released, did it not cross their minds that it could've been his truck? I'm sure many knew his history... Family, friends, ex-girlfriends or their family members, pastor, neighbor, coworkers, etc... Certainly some of them knew his history and what he drove, right? I know he was a loner, but from everything I've learned about the way word travels around there, I'm guessing many knew... But, it was an alert stranger, weeks later, who made the possible connection and notified le...
All jmo.

All excellent points, heidisams... Guess, the Cajun Net had a hole in it, huh?..
Imo, BS Lavergne, had enablers.. Once the smoke settles this will be revealed, imo.
As far as his assigned RSO Officer, BSL having tier 3 status should have been a red flag even before the interview on 05/28/2012. At which time BSL shows up driving a DWT, with a visual rash; poison ivy/mace, and stab wounds, a mugging ruse in NOLA combined with 3 hospital visits on and/or after 05/19/2012, etc.

Media briefing after BSL's arrest by LPD Chief Craft, who plainly states when they were alerted to BSL and that it was an aware citizen's tip on June 14, 2012:

My bold above. Authorities also let Level (Tier) 3 offender, Rodriguez loose, and he subsequently raped and murdered Dru Sjodin.

I've started reading that book about Derrick Todd Lee and although I am only a little ways into it, two things are clear already; various LE agencies screwed up in different cases and in different ways that kept him from being in prison during many of the murders, and that he did not always abduct his victims, some were left dead in their homes, other found in locations such as WB and some never found. So no real pattern.

He should have been put in prison for a gun charge from 1999, that was to be a 5-yr charge, and the gun was misplaced by LE, so they were unable to proceed. He also was not put back in jail one time when he violated probation and should have been. Some of the women would not have been killed, if LE had not either messed up or at least had followed procedures.

I just checked NamUs and MS is still NOT listed as missing. Thought I would check for "identified but not claimed" in case BSL put another girl's ID with her remains. No Luck. BMH

Has anyone heard about BSL also going to a Texas hospital? Is this confirmed, or more cajun gossip?

It may or may not be cajunnet, I don't know, but I know for a fact he did.

Was that the same day as the other hospital visits?

Wow you are brave for checking that out! I would have been scared to death! Do you think it'd be appropriate to notify the PI of this area? I think it's a great place for a search due to location/convenience to BL and the seclusion.

Not brave at all!

I did call Mr. Abdella, and he seemed interested in this area. I also mentioned the pits across the highway, and the coolie. He said he would see about having it searched. I just don't think any possibility should be ruled out. If nothing comes from this place, at least it will be one more place ruled out.
