What we know so far:

Two police officers and one sheriffs deputy are dead, and several others injured after a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to NBC citing the city's mayor. Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish, said that at least four others were injured in the Sunday morning shooting
The shooting appears to have taken place near a shopping centre in the city, about one mile from the Baton Rouge police headquarters. Photographs and video footage on social media show a heavy police presence in the area.
The shopping centre is also a short distance from the site where Alton Sterling was shot and killed by police officers two weeks ago
What we don’t know: A Louisiana State Police spokesman told NBC that a suspected gunman was shot, though his condition is not yet known.

Chief is on tv, 1 suspect down, other shooters out there, public be on look out, look for suspicious people, all black clothing, masks...family members being notified, please respect them, working scene now, suspect down, checking him out, looking for explosives. All agencies, ATF, etc...getting a lot of information in from surveillance, securing scene.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking it was an ambush. I mean, if cops arrive at an active shooting, it's possible an officer will be injured. But SEVEN officers shot, and three of them fatally? That seems like an ambush.

With all the world events, it's all the more painful to see Americans fight each other!! We need to be united.

I KNOW all the problems we have...it's just painful that we are pulling apart more than we are pulling together. I'm not taking any sides except to stand with people working to pull us together. I want to be with the truth-tellers and the listeners. It will be painful to face the truth of our problems, but less painful than this violence and despair.

Kudos Inthedetails - very powerful statement imo. I hope your voice is heard above all others!

Thanks. The on air reporter jumped and moved out of sight at the same time I heard it. I was surprised they didn't talk about it.

ETA. They are live from that site now, and the reporter is still not in sight.
