Human remains found near Franklin, Louisiana, St. Mary Parish

The remains were found on Friday 1/8/2021 in a wooded area 10 miles north of Franklin, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith. Franklin is about an hour southeast of Lafayette.

Two hunters found the remains at about noon Friday and notified the sheriff's office. The department has launched a death investigation.


Human Remains Found Near Franklin

Two hunters made the discovery and notified the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office just before 12 pm on Friday. SMPSO deputies and detectives responded to the scene and retrieved the remains.
