Human remains found in Golden Meadow


Investigators found the decomposed remains in a wooded area just north of Yankee Canal, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Though detectives could not determine an identity or cause of death, Sheriff Craig Webre said there weren’t any signs of foul play.


The body was found when detectives were conducting a missing-person investigation, he said.

“Detectives were following up on a missing-person complaint and were physically looking in the area when they came across the remains,” Webre said. “The clothing suggested they belonged to a female, though that is still being determined.”

Updates will be provided as information becomes available, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Lafourche Parish sheriff confirms remains found in Golden Meadow missing Galliano woman

Remains found in Golden Meadow last week were identified as a Galliano woman who had been reported missing.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre confirmed the remains found were those of 42-year-old Michelle Griffin.

Webre said there were no obvious signs of foul play and that the investigation into her death is ongoing.
