Thanks. I know that people typically refer to the place they live as "home", wherever that may be. It was just the articles using the terms "residence", "house", etc. previously, then seeing the one article using "motel", really threw me off. Thanks everyone for the clarification

I previously surmised that Jaren and her boyfriend were living in an motel and not an apartment.

ETA: Based on my knowledge of the area as a local.

The motel is no where near the water was she was found - it's an hour or better car drive. LE believes it's possible she was put in water near the New Orleans area and then the water carried her to Bay St. Louis. I don't believe that since the body parts are washing up in the same general vicinity.

I wouldn't bank on crime cameras in the area to be functioning. That's a major problem in this city.

I know NOLA is an hr from where she was found, I live here in BSL where she was found. I meant how far is the hotel from where she could have been PUT INTO the water??

That was 2 months before Katrina. All of the places she mentioned are in Hammond (1 hour from New Orleans).

Looks kinda 'rough' around that area and, wouldn't ya know, across the street is a cab driving by...seems ironic almost. Also, bringing up HM again, wonder where she was living at the time of her death?

Thinking out loud. Did they have a car? Maybe not since she had to get a cab. IF it was the BF, how did he transport the body without a car? Does NOLA have street cameras in the 2400 block? How far of a walk is it from the hotel to water where she would have been put? Unless there was help - someone with a car. Noise carries in cheap hotels which complicates things, but it's not impossible. Did anyone else see her that day or just the BF account of the timeline? Who besides the BF was the last to see her, and where?

At least 30 miles from the motel to a body of water that would have carried her to BSL. That would mean the Rigolets or Lake Borgne. FWIW, I think the murder and dismemberment took place in New Orleans East, which has the highest drug/crime/murder rate in the city, many abandoned properties, and close proximity to the the waterways mentioned above.

As for cameras, I know they are in many spots on Tulane Avenue. Not sure about that particular block but I'll check later this afternoon. And I agree about the noise in the motel. If it happened there, I'll wager it is no secret among the residents. In that type of housing situation, everyone knows what everyone else is doing, usually.

Whomever did this went to great lengths to hide the body, which tells me he/she had a lot to lose (much like Grant Haze). Any common street criminal in NOLA would know that if a dancer's body was found dumped in a field/on the side of the road, etc., she would probably not garner a whole ton of investigative efforts (sadly).

I'm starting to wonder about the club's owner.....

I didn't say it wasn't possible. I said I just didn't believe it. Looking at a map of the water, it appears the pieces have washed ashore fairly close to each other in a short amount of time. With so many inlets between here and there, why haven't any been found closer to New Orleans? JMO.

The google images are from 2007, and Katrina damage is still evident. Improvements have been made since then. Still a rough area, however. And yes, cabs up and down all the time. Tulane Ave is a major thruway connecting downtown NOLA to I-10, Metairie, and the airport.

It is a sticking point with me that the BF was last to see her and thus far no word of a cab picking her up. 30 miles to the likeliest water drop point means he had access to a car. You always have to look closest to home first, rule it out, and then go from there. If there is no evidence of a cab picking her up then the buck stops at home until they rule it out. A fake cab? That is a frightening possibility. Remember Imette St. Guillen? They thought she may have been a victim of a cab driver, but she wasn't....anyway, off-topic. Until they know she got in a cab I have questions about BF.

I disagree, I have seen MANY cases where family has tried to get the media interested in their loved ones cases. Both missing and unsolved murders. Stephanie Lowe for one. Her poor Mom tried to raise money for a reward fund and well ... I think it's at $2,500 today. Her case is on WS, take a look at it. Her Father gave a heart rending interview, he searched a river for his "little girl" for weeks, all alone in a boat.

Missing cases often become media targets when the circumstances are exceptionally unexplainable. It is extremely sad when anyone is missing or murdered but when someone, for example, it taken from their home that has a security system by a stranger it hits people in their core. To think that you or a loved one could be minding their business and doing everything 'right' and still be violated by a crazy individual is something people gravitate to because it could have been them. It is awful that cases where an unstable relationship, sketchy lifestyle or restraining orders deter the media or others from creating a firestorm but it happens. I am not in anyway saying this applies to THIS case, it is just an issue brought up in this thread. My heart goes out to this woman's loved ones

I agree. Your avg killer doesn't take the time and go to such lengths as this...they do what they need to do and get out. This was personal, and I believe for ease in transporting, rather than for a sick thrill. I would think the club owner or someone affiliated with the club IF she had made it to work that night.

If they are all put into the water at the same time they will go the same direction. Torso found Thurs 6 pm, others this morning further east. It's a good thing it's been raining so much here so people weren't out swimming and happened upon that!! The map sure looks like Rigolets or Lake Borgne are a good possibility. I'm sure high/low tide would have something to do with the way they are carried as to not end up in an inlet. I don't know much about tides and currents.

I don't think the body was put into the water in NOLA either. It would be one heck of a coincidence for the body parts to float all in the same direction and to the same place. There are whirlpools in the River which throw things in different directions, tree limbs, and about a zillion other things which would snag anything.

If the torso ends up being Jaren. I really hope that the LE goes back an takes another look at everything including COD of Hillary. Something deep down is telling me they both were murderer and sadly has something to do with the place they worked.
I really hope that their young children are being cared for. No child should have to face this.

Imagine if every single missing person made headlines and garnered media attention. We would never leave our homes for fear. We wouldn't let our children out of our sight for a second. All we would think about is "are we next?". There would not be time to report on ANYTHING else.
