Since the body was found in Hancock County, Mississippi, Mississippi authorities take over the investigation. If, in the course of the investigation, it is determined that the murder occurred in Jefferson Parish, then those authorities would take over. As of right now, we don't know of any evidence indicating that the murder occurred in the NOLA area. For all we know, this pair could've driven to MS and killed her there. I admit that it seems unlikely to have occurred in MS, but that's the assumption until there are other indications.


As an aside, it does appear that the many different law enforcement agencies involved are working together to determine the truth and don't seem to be having any jurisdiction wars at this time.

I hope not! It's a murder not a pissing contest.

So, if they dismembered her in the house, wouldn't it make more sense for them to put her in the Duncan Canal area? From Google maps it looks like alligator paradise. If they dropped her in the water in LA the closest place for her to be put to have her remains end up in MS would be Lake Borgne?

Latest update is that Speaks in in federal custody for now because he has federal charges for the failing to register as a sex offender.

The kenner house belonged to her grandmother and she moved into it after her grandparents died

Tell me what's off when it comes to you....this feels right to me and I think they found their crime scene.

Not convinced this will be the crime scene, but maybe they will find something to link them to the crime. Would they be dumb enough to keep tools, clothing worn that night, etc.?

Definitely not- if anyone spotted an alligator there, they would call animal control. Alligators are not a common sight at every body of water in the state.
