Fox 8 News at 10 o'clock updated Jaren's case tonight. I can't help but wonder why it would take the Hancock LE and the FBI almost two years to move the case to Kenner. And to admit they aren't sure if MAS is still in Kenner. Really? Have they thought about checking her Facebook or questioning family? I just hope this makes either MAS or TS talk and maybe one will hand over more evidence to finally bring Justice to Jaren's story.

I really do hate to say "I told you so", but I have mentioned more than once about the FBI lab backlog. It's not only a problem at the FBI lab, LE labs in general suffer from backlogs. Some states have put a lot of money into adding resources, but others are still struggling to catch up..

I'm just thankful they've found something, and I pray it's enough to convict.

And I wouldn't worry about LE finding MAS, Ms. Shagwell. ;) They just don't want her to know when they're coming for her.

"The concern of the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office of Hancock County was that their investigation had gone so far and they didn't have the resources to move it further," said Kenner Police Department Chief Steve Caraway. "Since we have been involved in the investigation on 'day one' with Hancock County because one of the suspects lived in the city of Kenner, we have assisted them in obtaining search warrants since the very beginning of this investigation."

I don't know whether you recall. But there was a report, an aerial photo or something that indicated investigators were looking around in an area located in the back yard of the home where TS and MAS were living. I don't want to get into the details. But what happened to Jaren after her death likely happened outdoors. And lab work may have been challenging and could have involved soil samples.

Ms. Shagwell, I was born, raised, & currently still living in Hancock County...let me just say that if I were to go missing or be found murdered, I wouldn't want our sheriff's dept working my case simply because I don't feel like they have the resources nor the training to properly investigate. It's just my personal opinion.

I'm very thankful that they turned Jaren's case over to Kenner, I feel like the LE over in Louisiana, specifically the New Orleans area, have a whole heck of a lot more experience dealing with serious crimes.

Edited to add, I do have to say I think it's great that all of these agencies have had a part in this investigation from the very beginning. All too often we see LE getting into a turf war, so to speak.

I completely agree with you. There's some discussion of this and photos starting with this post.

No developments from the evidence has been released. However, Caraway said investigators in Hancock County believe the killing didn't happen in Mississippi.

"There is some evidence that was collected -- some forensic evidence -- that is still being examined. So we don't have the results of that," Caraway said. "We will seek the results of those examinations."

The FBI said it is working to process the evidence that was collected.

"Some of the processing on evidence we have received has been completed and we have shared the results with our partners. More lab examinations of evidence continues as the investigation into the crime continues," the FBI said in a statement on Tuesday.

I'm so glad there is finally some movement. Jaren deserves justice and it's crazy that it has taken this long to even hear this news. I'm praying that LE does this right and that the things responsible for taking Jaren away from her daughter and her family face everything that is coming to them. Especially the very scary LA penitentiary.

I was just watching my local news in the background when I heard Jaren's name during a "what's coming up" section. I freaked out a little bit and then came directly here. Wouldn't you know, the local news never even said another word about it during the newscast...what the hell!

Thanks to you all, I was able to read the most recent updates. Besides that, I am so glad to know that there is movement in Jaren's case. Her case is what first brought me here to Websleuths.

Justice for Jaren! I hope it is coming soon.

Really makes you wonder, doesn't it.

Sheriff's investigators have said they believe Sanchez tried to hire Lockhart to work a private party before she disappeared.

A month later, Sanchez appeared in a taped TV episode of ABC's "Final Witness." She talked about how her best friend, Addie Hall, was dismembered in 2006.

Knowing two people who were dismembered is too odd to be a coincidence, Detective Glenn Grannan said.

From his quote in the article, it doesn't sound like Caraway thinks the murder took place at the house in Kenner. If so, why would Kenner LE take over the investigation? I've always wondered why the NOPD wasn't in charge of this case from the beginning since Jaren was last seen alive leaving a club in NOLA. Maybe the murder took place closer to where they were last seen together, and for whatever crazy reason, MAS and TS drove with Jaren's body to the Miss. coast to dispose of it. Then they end up back in Kenner with some evidence on their hands, in the car, in the house? I just don't see the murder taking place in Kenner and these two risking a drive to the coast with Jaren's body where they could be stopped by Kenner, Jefferson, State, or Hancock LE.

I'm really curious if there is any similarity between the way Addie Hall's and Jaren's remains were found. As sickening as it is to think about, if I were investigating this case, I would go back to the reports following Zack's suicide and the discovery of Addie's dismemberment and look very closely for the same cuts and/or wounds.

I just don't believe in the coincidences. I can't get past it. The fact that Jaren left the club with them doesn't prove anything per se. Of course not, but everything since then certainly points to them. Does LA have Grand Juries? We've seen indictments come down with far less circumstantial evidence! Then MAS on that show rationalizing what happened to Addie Hall's body? Come the F on. If there is a tiny drop of blood in Kenner, in their car, on their clothing, ANYWHERE...

Between her deleting her FB, the other dancer stating she was propositioned by them, the arrest, talking about the weather in jail, the couple they stayed with while making smurf hair...there is no way a jury wouldn't put it all together. A law student could make this case in court, why isn't the DA all over this?

MOO
