In Jaren Lockhart case, jailhouse snitches say Terry Speaks confessed

A convicted killer serving a life sentence at a New York prison told a Jefferson Parish jury Thursday (June 18) that Terry Speaks confessed he and his girlfriend killed a Bourbon Street dancer after luring her from the French Quarter.

Speaks and his girlfriend Margaret Sanchez knocked the dancer out with a blow to her head, bound her and put her in the trunk of her car and drove to a home near an airport, where they put the unconscious woman in a bathroom, the lifer Christian del Rosario testified.

Sanchez, 31, of Metairie, is charged with the same offense and will stand trial separately. Her trial date is not set, but she has a status hearing set for Friday morning before testimony in Speaks' case resumes.

Who needs DNA when you have a taped confession like this one?? I just wish the Hancock LEA would have been a little more aggressive confirming the clothing they found on the beach was Jaren's and also investigating Sanchez's Kenner home and and video surveillance (from MS areas) earlier than they did. Seems like they dropped the ball on these.

Speaks is toast. Only way he's not convicted is if there is a runaway jury. Game over. Seems the defenses only line of attack is that there is nothing to prove that Jaren was in the car or house (which isn't exactly true). Really wish I could listen to closing arguments live.
