Laurondell Esko went Houma to visit with friends on Oct. 16. Later that night, Esko was supposed to head back home to Thibodaux, but he never arrived. Family members have been trying reach him on his cell phone but have been unsuccessful. Esko, age 46, is described as being 5’09” tall and 220 lbs. He was driving a blue 2003 Ford Expedition with License Plate No. 443CMV.

It's good to see his vehicle was found but where it was found is worrisome to me. Thibodaux is north of Houma and his SUV was found approximately 16 miles south of Houma, in the middle of nowhere. It was found on a levee access road. The public is usually not allowed to drive on top of a levee but I'm not sure about that exact area.
I would want to know his mental state and I'm also thinking this would be a good place to get rid of a vehicle if foul play is involved.

HOUMA - Deputies arrested two people connected to a missing persons case from 2018 that led eventually to a homicide investigation.

*****
n March of 2024, the sheriff's office began a "complete review" of the initial investigation, which led to the discovery of information that was not previously known.

Upon their questioning, both Rodriguez and Cantrelle allegedly admitted to their involvement in Esko's death.

Esko's remains were found in a small pond located behind a property linked to the two suspects.

Ashlee B. Cantrelle and Glen Paul Rodriguez both were charged with first-degree murder after the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, aided by the LSU FACES lab, uncovered the body they suspect is that of Larondell Esko. Esko went missing in October 2018 after traveling to Houma.

"In March 2024, Criminal Intelligence detectives discovered new information," Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet said at a news conference Wednesday. "We can confirm that Rodriguez and Cantrelle are in a relationship and that the gathering was planned by both Rodriguez and Cantrelle with the specific intent to murder Esko at the residence."

The body was found in the back pond of the couple's residence in Chauvin in the 5200 block of Bayouside Drive on April 6. A two-day investigation of the 20-foot by 40-foot pond led to it being pumped about two-thirds empty to uncover what evidence suggests is Esko's remains.
