Heard the news about the 2 vehicles on the radio on the way back.
Was hoping that either of the two would help.

Well, at least now they're looking for ONE vehicle and no longer chasing different VOI!

When you were out there, did you spot the vehicle? Even though I know it's been identified, I'm insanely curious.

FYI,

What I found at the place (by the way, I also shouldn't have posted the address - I did that, hoping that others could take a look at the car from satellite. I can see I've got a lot to learn):

The car was a ~1985 Chevy Caprice... the color was close, but the body damage wasn't there.

Was fooled me was that the vinyl top was so sun-faded that it had turned almost silver. In the satellite image, that came out white!!'

By the way, ran into EBR (a poster here) at the Circle K at St. Landry & University. He flagged me down due to my hood ornament! lol

I didn't even intend to go to that Circle K - I don't know those streets, and was trying to find a way back to Pinhook, and saw St. John and though it would get me somewhere... and then I ended up at the Circle K by accident.

Yeah, I'm a noob. That wasn't the best thing. Lesson to self for future.

After I left I remembered that there is a feature to remove one's own post.

PM is better.

You're back. :great::woohoo:

And that would be why Chicken going out to a certain location, frightens me. Where is he? He should have been back by now.

It's illegal in Louisiana to go around sleuthing withought a P.I. license. Maybe he's in the slammer! :D Im sure he's fine. Perhaps he hitched up his horse and buggy and time travelled back to the century he came from. :D

I can't wait 'til he reads this.

Just because LE has said these vehicles could not provide info does not mean they did not.
LOTS of people have been looking for them and this could be a way to get people of their back. LE is very calculated in the info they give to the public, even though some LEA will make you wonder if their calculator is broke. Now let's see what is behind door number three! (3rd vehicle)

Did LE say that they didn't provide info? I just thought they cleared the drivers.

By the way, the neighborhood sucked. Pretty ghetto - a lot of shady characters walking the streets. I can't believe Mickey felt safe riding close to this area. Youth feel invulnerable. :-(

Now I'm confused.

Has the make and model of the truck that picked up the Patterson woman been specifically and absolutely nailed down?

Am I the only one who found the whole Patterson thing to be oddly suspicious since it was never reported to police when it occured and it only came out now? Not saying she is lying, but my reaction when I watched the news story about it when it aired was definitive skepticism. All I know is that if I had experienced something like that, I would have gone to the police (even if not right away, but when Mickey went missing) and I definitely wouldn't have plastered my name and face all over the media with some sort of psycho out there.

Let's nip this in the bud about Chevy Z71:

Lafayette police are still looking for the driver or occupants of this white Chevy Z-71 truck which was in the same area as Mickey Shunick on May 19.

I think they meant that the drivers and passengers had no significant info to provide.

i've thought from the start that something happened on the st. landry extension. i've ridden my bike out there at night(with a boyfriend) and even when you are with someone you trust it is still really dark and really creepy. the fields in that area are so large that they are used as a dog park, ultimate frisbee and rugby field all at the same time.

Feelings like she made it all the way to those fields also makes me wonder about the makeup brush my friend found. it was in that area in a fairly shallow ditch.

Right when the headQ moved to blackham my first thought was, oh my, what if she disappeared right next to the coliseum. Especially because we saw the brush and wondered why LE hadn't retrieved it. (For those interested, my friend's call fell between the cracks. they finally bagged and took the brush on sunday....yes. a whole week later).

Those were my thoughts immediately upon learning her route home. That eye brush is now with campus police?

I'm bringing this over from thread 11 because I think it's important (and not just because I wrote it! :) )
who knew?

Most of us here are not law enforcement personnel, and even if we were, unless we work for the PD in Lafayette, or are private eyes, we would be out of bounds to do any investigating in this case. LPD does not appreaciate it, as most departments would not as well.
Remember... LE has access to a lot of data on the internet that the general public does not. They also have the authority to talk to potential witnesses or suspects and we do not.
A person can also be charged with interfering in a police investigation. So PLEASE, everyone... be very careful!!

I thought it was a little weird. Maybe being asked for sex-for-money isn't unusual and the truck in question was the item of note.

~NOT DISPARAGING MS PATTERSON~

Maybe there are a lot of creeps around.

GMC Sierra 2500 Texas Series. White with black bed cover.

Now my question and statements are, if there is construction in the areas surrounding Landry St, where would those places be, AND, whoever did this, took Mickey and knew those roadways well enough to know exactly where he dumped her bike.

Wish we could let Chicken Fried know ....

And I want to know if it turned out to be exactly the make and model chicken fried and another poster - sorry :waitasec: - determined it to be.
Maybe chicken went to collect a reward!

Exactly - as per Sierra Lamar's case where LE had placed a GPS tracking device on vehicle of perp, and kept this info private till perp was captured. ETA: LE was hoping perp might lead them to SL's body.

yeah. a campus cop was looking at it when my friend passed by to see if it was gone yet. He told the cop that he hadn't touched it or anything in the ditch and the cop bagged it. just to show everyone its a brush used for the face...like this

i'm very curious as to whether any of her friends or family know if she owns a brush like this....
