I remember about ten to twelve years ago,a young man was kidnapped from Conroe Texas..By a friend of his dad's..Was for ransom..The man took the child to Whiskey Bay and killed him..I still lived in Texas at that time..I have a hard time every time I cross that bridge!!!

i'd forgotten that one.

That place is just bad, because on top of all that, it's the narrowest, most dangerous bridge on I-10 in all of Louisiana. Lots of bad wrecks on it and people getting killed. So when I drive over it not only am I a bit creeped out, but also I have a firm grip on the wheel because half the time you have a semi 4 feet away from your window and the guard rail 4 feet to your right and no margin for error when there's a gust of wind. The bridge is so tall and narrow and exposed. In a hard rain with wind blowing, you feel like you could die any second driving over it.

Hi everyone,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I don't have many new thoughts on the case to contribute at the moment, because (like many of you) I'm currently on the edge of my seat. This case has hit close to home with me. It's been amazing watching this community react and help out. Although my gut feeling is not good at the moment, I am hoping for the best for MS, her family, and the community that's grown even closer through this case.

Rolling out the :wagon: for paisleyb! Thanks for joining us!

I used to have a really tall old camper van with loose steering, and I'm a pretty good driver, and I would get the shakes after crossing the Whisky Bay bridge in any sort of wind or rain. Hair-raising driving. As bad as the Huey P. Long bridge - worse, IMO.

Lafayette police chief and LCG's chief administrative officer are there. (Both of whom are being sued by police officers)

Ran out of gas there once. May as well have been on a swing. Not fun feeling the entire bridge just sway back and forth as huge semi's barrel by within inches of your vehicle at 60 mph

Did I read just a page or two back that the police chief is now out at Whiskey Bridge?

I was born at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (Lafayette) and lived on the Vermillion Bayou years ago. I pray Mickey finds her way home soon.

My bro-in-law's father-in-law talks JUST like Troy. My hubby and BIL love to pick on him, always running around going "Lizzzzbett, chooooooot 'em!"

Haha my dad went to school with that guy and he is our "cousin" too far away to claim as my dad says, but my dad doesn't talk like that! Hahaha! Thank God. I don't know if you ever heard "down the bayou" accents, but they're worst than Troy's! Lol gotta love Louisiana - the farther south you go the worst the speech gets IMO!

How do you catch up after 5 or more threads have gone by and you just landed here. LOL

I don't drive over bridges, except the little intersection bridges that go over a large ditch.

It's my understanding that it was an audio recording.

I still can't fathom bragging about a murder. At least the person recording had a conscience and turned it in.

whiskey bay has more than currents. it literally CHURNS like a washing machine. you can clearly see this when you drive over it. it can't be safe to dive into at night. are they really diving tonight?? something must be important to be out there at night, whether diving or not. it's so dark without any civilization around.

I really don't think they're diving in the pilot channel, which a lot of people call "Whiskey Bay." The pilot channel is under the Whiskey Bay bridge. The boat launch, at the east end of the exit area, has a long canal that runs between the I-10 twin spans. I think this, and where it opens out to , is likely where they're searching. IMO, anything dumped into the Whiskey Bay pilot channel is looong gone with the current.

I can't keep typing this, but HERE'S a LINK to the Whiskey Bay exit area, so y'all can see for yourselves.

I work "down da bayou." It's pretty funny. I correct the people I work with all the time and they call me city girl.

I have a problem with bridges in general. Now I know I can't ever drive on that one.

Thanks for the advance warning!
