The waterway along Ko Dupuis Rd is Bayou Portage Guidry. It drains into Bayou Berard Canal.

This questioning of McGee that Cpl Mouton spoke of in the Independent article could possibly explain the very late night search last night.

Could the FBI arrest him?

It would depend on the circumstances surrounding the crime and whether it involved federal charges. Based on what we've heard so far that doesn't appear to be the case, but who knows. The guy could be cleared tomorrow.

OT: Laffytaffy, your storms cleared out before we hit Lafayette Lots of heat lightning and I-10 is wet, but no rain. Whew!

lol

Don't go there, then.

It's the zombie threads that convinced me to avoid it.

I'm not saying there's never valuable information, but the presentation makes it tough to take seriously.

Reddit is literally the front page of the Internet. Millions of posters, thousands of forums.

One of the passengers mentioned in the article from the hit/run is on RM FB friend list. He has a couple of public photo albums. There is one picture of him posing in front of what it looks like a 4 door, white truck, with a chrome running board/bar.

Not saying it is McGee but with sentencing coming up in August this would certainly give him motive to try and hide any evidence. (Is that going too far?)

And, I can see him getting in all the good time he can, the closer sentencing gets!

Rocky McGee. Just wondering if they have issued a warrant for him...trying to validate this in some way other than The Independent.

BTW, Ko Dupuis Rd. is the next road to Courville...the house in question is on Courville...and there's a bayou/river that runs against their backyard. :/

I'm pretty sure St. Martin Parish would have to arrest him and then transfer him over to Lafayette....LPD has no jurisdiction to make arrests in Breaux Bridge, nor does the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's office....

He would not have to be arrested to be questioned, would he?

Does it have a Z71 decal like you can see on this truck, behind and above the wheel in front of the tail light?

Okay, hypothetically, if that other site's poster is posting true info, why would someone put her bike at WB but put her in the waterway right by his house (cringing writing about Mickey like that....)?

To throw cops off but be able to keep watch over where she is (cringing again) to be able to see when it's searched and have some control? Why not keep bike there as well? Hmmm.

I hope this leads to a break in the case somehow....

We actually did get assigned a private area. It was wierd. The team leader had to ask permission and get a gate unlocked prior to searching. It was a dud though, a freshly mowed hay pasture.

My areas were all woods, woods, woods. I was so hoping for a field by the end of the day. I don't know if they were public, one was behind some strange guy's house and he didn't seem to like us there too much.

I would love to know what terrain y'all are searching tomorrow... not where of course, just woods, streets, fields, water, or what. If the search is still on, I hope to go out again on Saturday.

He would not have to be arrested to be questioned, would he?

No, not at all. I was just curious to see if it went any further, especially after the statement that "Lafayette" hadn't made any arrests.

Holy *****! This is the guy that someone at GLP posted about about three nights ago! He gave a link to an article about a fatal car wreck caused by this guy, for which he got a DUI.

Although I don't understand as LE said that the accident had been caused by the other vehicle running into this guy when he was 17 yo. :waitasec:

Heres an interesting tidbit that comes in handy. In louisiana it is not trespassing if you are looking for a lost pet. Just FYI, carry a leash around and you can get into just about wherever you want ;)

You would know something like this, wouldn't you :D

Wonder if LE would consider searching that body of water, considering the history.

The photo does not include the decal because it's cut off... It does have those plastic black rain guard things (I'm assuming that's what you call them), tinted windows, and just like the picture you posted, a tool box in the back.

Relevant also is the fact that this kid would know the bayous and swamp in that area like the back of his hand ....and also alternate ways than I-10 to access Whiskey Bay.

Edited to add: And boat access and knowledge.

A couple thoughts, for non-locals, in case this into begins to develop: I used to teach public school in Breaux Bridge.

It is a different world over there from Lafayette. Mickey is basically a Louisiana city girl. Over there, once you cross the Bayou Teche, those people in St. Martin Parish are still as Cajun-country as it gets. The people are very different. Folks not from down here don't understand. The families stay there for generation after generation. All the roads are named after someone's grandpa. Everyone knows each other. Traditional education is giving next to bottom priority, in general. The kids have an OUTDOORS education. I also taught in a couple Lafayette schools, and there was a stark difference. They are wild....party hard - live hard - hunt hard - my students used to be late to school a lot out hunting in the morning. Crawfish ponds are everywhere, and cane fields. The area is very poor compared to most of Lafayette. To them, Lafayette is the big city.

The families are TIGHT, like an organism.... everyone knows each other's business, and entire extended families have reputations for different character traits. Everything gets done on the basis of not what you know, but who you know. Oh sure, it's like that in Lafayette to, but this is the heartland of Cajuns.

The reason I'm saying all this... is that out-of-town folks here should realize that it could get and messy. Political corruption is the Louisiana sport. In little places like the Breaux-Bridge, St. Martinville, etc. area, it's just in the DNA. There are intrigues and dramas and emotional decisions made all the time that have just as mjuch to do with who is fighting whom, as to the actually issue at hand.

So..... that preamble said, the Cajun Net is flying. This case may very well be getting worked out in back-room conversations between different factions of relatives. If this kid is found to be involved, his family will likely protect him. But, as word gets out, it will become a huge furor - all the women on the phones trying to sort it out. The police may even be presented a fait accompli. Because though his family may try to protect him, that's a Catholic, God-fearing area. Pressure to protect him will be faced with even greater mouth-to-mouth pressure to surrender him. It will be fought out on the Cajun Net before we ever hear of it here on the Internet.

But - in the end - this Cajun community will do the right thing. If ANYONE in Breaux Bridge knows what happened, it WILL spill. The truth WILL come out, as the entire community begins to buzz. If he gets implicated in this, the people of that area will not stop until he has been forced to confess. Crazy, wild, flawed, hearty, gossipy people they are, they won't hide him. If he's in Breaux Bridge, he will be brought to justice. The character of the community that I know, will ensure it.
