Am I reading this wrong?

"his was driving" is obviously a typo but does it not say he was struck by another vehicle, that vehicle being driven by RM? I'm reading it as RM hit him. Did I miss a line that says the victim turned into RM?

Yes... You did.
Cedars says he initially tried to charge Mcgee with vehicular homicide but would have had to prove that intoxication caused the accident, and the evidence supported that Amlani had turned into Mcgee’s car. The ADA was able to secure a guilty plea to felony hit and run with a fatality. Mcgee is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 21; he faces up to seven years at hard labor.

the only thing would be the damage?! Maybe he lived close or sleuthed himself :)

I don't know much that was mentioned about the damage, other than him saying LE "took the damaged truck". I think if LE was looking at him, they may have impounded his truck, which may have made them assume it had damage from a bike wreck. Please correct me if there was more said though.

I'm so sorry you lost your grandfather and uncle. Especially in such a terrible way and no justice to speak of.

You're the first person in a long while I've read/heard call their grandfather affectionately "Granddaddy." I had a Granddaddy, too. <3

Awe, that warms my heart. I don't know of anyone, besides my cousins and sisters, that call(ed) their gradfather "granddaddy."

389 members and guests aboard; last night we had 398 at this time, and that was with all of the sonar and the potential evidence and the LE presence at Whiskey Bay and the "white van at the scene." Not as much happening tonight but still great interest in Mickey's case.

You don't know the spoiled rich kid mentality down here then. I know plenty of 16 yr olds who get $60,000 trucks with custom lifts, chrome, wenches, the works. It's keeping up with the Boudreaux's .

I'm not too far away (in ETx) and when I met my (now) husband, he was 20 and had a new Chevy with an 8 inch lift, 22 inch wheels, and 40 inch tires. With that plus the add-ons inside the truck, probably brought its worth to about $50000. The reason for him getting that truck? Because he had jumped a hill in his old one (he got it brand new when he turned 16) and when he landed he hit so hard that the truck bent in the middle. So his parents bought him the fancy new one.:banghead:

My 18yo son is allowed to take my husbands new Ford Fx4 fully loaded truck to go out. Now he doesn't drink so I really don't have to worry but I feel that he is safer driving this truck instead of his beat up 2001 vehicle. Now on the other had, had he been involved in an accident where he got a DUI/Hit and Run/Fatality accident, he would NEVER be allowed to drive ANY of my vehicles again, including his own (although it's in my name). But he is far from being spoiled. Like I said earlier, I allow it for safety purposes.

There are exceptions to every generalization, of course, but I am speaking of the lifestyles I have been a part of and have been around. No offense. OT anyway.

I wish I could search with y'all. Just not physically able right now. Tomorrow is going to be much better search conditions - less humidity, and a high of only 88. The humidity difference will make y'all a lot more comfortable.

I sure hope so...I am very pregnant and don't want to be too miserable in the heat!

Respectfully,

That does not mean that he is involved in this incident.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

That's what I said, basically?

I hear you loud and clear. As noobs, we're trying to adjust to tighter moderation than we're used to on blogs, and I think the moderation is some of the best I've ever seen. Before all us noobs get the broad brush, don't forget that we had a couple posters here though putting out wild speculation nonstop nearly 'round the clock for days, getting many, many basic facts wrong, all the while repeatedly asking the rest of us to wear out our fingers by doing most of their basic research for them, and doing a good job at wearing out those fingers. After awhile, the fingers get away from the brain telling one not to start getting a little snippy with them.

Most of us noobs are trying, and adjusting, as the mods guide us toward acceptable behavior :-)

This board is probably has the most well-behaved members I can remember encountering on the internet. I was really surprised how patient they were with all of us in the first week of Mickey's disappearance. That said, It would not offend me if they assigned forced-lurker status to some of our more ill-mannered brethren.

I hear that. My reaction is "If you don't want to hear the truth, don't ask me"

Sorry CF..I am not trying to disrespect you, but I'm not buying the fact that an ex-journalist turned Administrator is needed to oversee several experienced law enforcement agencies (city, parishes, state). From what was being said on via radios, they were not confused as to what needed to be done.

sounds just like rumors

Rumors and the grapevine are how the cops break cases ;-)

It was said on here many times that either a passenger/wife/friend would mostly likely turn the perp in if they knew something!

Probably OT: Some Cajuns by my house are running their dogs through the cane fields. I can hear them calling out commands.

Yikes! Warrior woman! This is precisely why I said I wouldn't be able to join in the search! Lol! You go, mama! :)

I agree and Corporal Mouton himself said they questioned several folks. But why did he mention RM specifically but not anyone else?
Could be because everyone already had his name already and that was his way of saying "we cleared him". (speculating)

Very well could of been that he was interviewed as a result of a tip.

As well it could of been as the result of the previous incident.

The problem is that misinformation about someone that has no involvment in this case gets spread all over the WWW and once that information is posted it does not disappear.

If you think of cases like the Duke Lacrosse team I remember one comment made by one of the Lacrosse players and to paraphrase he stated his obituary will read "So and So, one of the people charged in the Duke Lacrosse rape,......" .

The internet can be both friend and foe and we never want to put out information that could ultimately hurt an innocent.

If RM truly does live at the property shown on the Google Map link posted a few pages back, then it would not correlate to his driving a $50k truck. At least, not logically.

But then again, we are talking BB, here... ;)
