I called the tip line a while back and the person (woman) that answered just said "Detective". How did you answer the phone?

I have not (yet) answered the tip line. I only signed up for it yesterday after a search, on my way out the door while picking up new flyers. Just figured I could try and make myself more useful. But now it looks like they won't need volunteers anymore anyway.

They would have to lug it all somewhere, wouldn't they? Either way, they've got to do the work and take the risk.

Yeah, they could have done that. That's assuming a random, unthinking perp.

A local, thinking perp would have used a boat. It's just the most effective way. Let me try to paint it for you - how it's not that hard.

Wrap up your evidence in a tarp; not necessary for the bike. Weight the tarp. Put it all in the boat when no one is looking and conceal it, Hook up your boat to your truck, drive down to a private or public landing somewhere around Butte la Rose. Drive up river for an hour or so. Enjoy the scenery. Bring your fishing poles, too, to make it look good. Ride past the junction of the bayou and the Pilot Channel, where the current gets fast and deep. Ride past the little camps on the left bank, so as not to be seen. Dump everything overboard. Ride back for an hour or so.... pull the boat out of the water.... You are done!

If the bike did somehow float, then that was his only mistake.

I understand what u are saying!

I just do not think they did that!

Its 2 am you have abducted a young woman and she is in your truck along with her bike.
Now you do not know how long u have to get rid of everything cause someone can be looking for her. U need to get rid of the bike u drive to whiskey bay and throw it over I think they will find her out there also.

JMO!

I agree with some other posters who have said how difficult it is to follow these threads as they fly by....for those of us who have daily activities, coming home to find an entire thread to catch up on is pretty overwhelming. That is why I am going to ask a couple things that may have already been discussed ad nauseum.

Could someone please provide the link/s that show what some perceive as Mickey under the truck?

Has anyone heard when the next press conference will be?

TIA.

I sometimes get the feeling that "it" (whatever "it" may be) happened closer to her home. Was that also disproved?

No, nothing really can be disproved I guess. I was just saying several members disproved slowlybutshelly's idea that the family KNEW Mickey was accidentally run over as the .gif suggested.

Does anyone know if search dogs were taken along the route that Mickey travelled from BW's home to where she was last seen?

There were search dogs out and about in the first few days after her disappearance, but I do not know if they covered all of Mickey's possible routes. Pretty sure this was before the video of her was found. IIRC I remember dogs being used to search the field across the street from the Cajundome on Congress, and although I am sure they were used elsewhere, I can't say for sure.

And that's not good because what's going to happen now, if there are no more searches, and there are no more pressers, the case is just going to dwindle down to nothing. I hope it doesn't happen.

I am sure that we all hope & pray that it doesn't happen, mamamia54. Sadly, the day that announcement was made is when JVM, NG, and the other MSM networks moved on to other news.
AMW, did have a brief segment last night on Mickey Schunick's abduction, but due to the tragic state of public safety and the increase in the silent epidemic of the missing/murdered persons across the US, they always move on to another tragedy..

i am sure of some things in that pic... there is a light "source" under that vehicle. based on the intensity of the light and direction of the beam... it is near but not on the ground... i thought it might be a dislodged driving light (the little ones in the bumper)

IMHO, the light source is a reflection off the road of the bright lights at Circle K. Look on Google Earth. The word "ONLY" is in large white letters in the left turning lane directly behind the location of the truck in the photo. The lettering material is likely highly reflective and the reflected light bouncing up under the truck toward the camera. The fact that the light falls on a line exactly between the light source and the camera is a pretty good clue.

And the Spanish send settlers/militia from the Canary Islands.

Yep. Those are my ancestors, on my maternal grandfather's side of the family.

And my paternal grandmother was an Hebert...pure French, via Acadie.

There are lots of Spanish people who live in Cajun country, but to be accurate, they aren't true Cajuns, as "Acadians" = " 'cadians" = "Cajuns". Nowadays, though, it's generally thought that anyone born of French and/or Spanish descent, from those bloodlines, is considered Cajun, especially a Romero, Viator, Segura, etc.

I don't go along with the boat theory either. She and the bike are already in the vehicle. It's hard to imagine the perp transferring the bike or body to another mode of transportation. There are to many secluded places along the waterway that you can drive to dump anything.

I have spent many years taking care of those hit or run over by vehicles and I can assure you there would be lots of evidence left behind at the scene. Blood is not easily deleted.

First time posting, please excuse if I do this wrong!
IF she was the victim of an accidental hit and run (my personal opinion) there wouldn't neccessarily be blood evidence left behind. From my understanding, Mickey wasn't wearing a helmet. With all the searches coming up empty on her route, I would think IF she was hit and thrown from the bike it may have resulted in a "closed" head injury. Bleeding on the brain may have rendered her unconscious and whomever hit her, grabbed her in a panic.

Picture from me blowing up the area under the truck.

If you look really close at that pic you can see someone in the passenger window and what appears to be a dog in the back window!

Ya know, I've been thinking that myself. Why not toss it somewhere where it may never have been found, and not somewhere that boats and men who fish would possibly find it. It's making no sense to me, unless that's also where Mickey is, and what bothers me so much about that is, alligators.

Buzzards, odor, hunters.... tramping through the woods dragging something?

Water cleanses.

Like the PI on the case said, Police have the actual video, we are just looking at stills. If she was hit, they would know.

I think what some people were getting at, is that, yes, they did know. And with the current lawsuit situation it might not be all that far fetched. I *think* that was what they were thinking.

Didn't say I was thinking it. But it was interesting. I honestly HOPE nothing like that would ever happen. I love Acadiana but would not feel safe living here anymore if I knew LE knew about that and tried to slip it under the rug for their own benefit.

I've looked at that picture every which way but Sunday. I see something, can't tell what it is, don't know what would make it look the way it does, but there seems to be something there. I can't see inside the truck, so lol, if you see that, sigh, I don't know.

What if its s Someone she KNOWS!

That is the only scenario I can logically think that would have left no evidence on the road.....but it's certainly not the only scenario possible. I do think it is the easiest explanation of why nothing has been found along her route. (Assuming here that the makeup brush has been determined to have nothing to do with Mickey.)

If it were a local with a boat, he might think only of Whiskey Bay because the Pilot Channel's so deep. He may not have known of a better place, or thought it was the best. And it would have been a lot less work than dragging something through a swamp..... and again - - the water's deep and fast.

And..... not everyone would puncture the tires... not everyone. Especially if the bike sank, hovered at 10 feet, and then tumbled along, where he couldn't see it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain to me! I had missed the reporter's statement, and I now understand what you are getting at.

*I* have gone fishing, and I guess I was thinking someone would have popped the tires because on *my* boat, there are always one or two or even three filet knives......but you are so right that not everyone thinks like kgeaux!

I'll need to come back to that water cleanses, cause there just may be more to that thinking than we know.

I would still like some input on what the bright light under the truck is. When MS is at that location, there is no bright light on the ground under her. Would the truck's headlight reflect that much below it or is the light reflected off of something in front of the truck, bouncing back to the area under the truck?

Skimming posts from yesterday...and just wanted to ask/make a comment on this BFF and GF of RM's. Could this anyway possible be MS's former BFF---who BW met through her and he used to date. BW stated they had broken up, and she also was not friends with MS any longer (estranged) is the word he used. I've had the thought that this X-situation could be the cause of her missing....especially since BW & MS were moving to NO and would be roommates. Maybe this girl had a vengence. It was only a few weeks before their move when MS went missing. Could also account for BW's words in his first interview and some of the quirkiness when saying "You don't know what you've done."

If it is the xbff/gf, and she is now the bff of RM's gf.......WHOA is right!! Don't for one second think that a couple of girl's couldn't "disappear" another....or persuade a man to get involved with manipulaton.

They had different names. I don't remember exactly what this girl said RM's gf's name was, but it was not the same name as BW's ex-girlfriend or I'm sure I would have wrecked us on the bridge lol.
