hey there..it's my first post...so please bear with me:)
I have been following this carefully thread by thread - I feel like I know some of you...chicken fried, mamamia, the two houdats and ACI...i love all your thought processes and attempts at deductions...:)
<snipped by me>
...just some thoughts from Canada...

Thanks for the shout-out, basil. Glad you have joined us!

I didn't realize there was another houdat here...I'll have to look them up and say hello.

Yes. Wouldn't that be a major f*** up if they paved over the crime scene?

Well I thought it odd when Chicken said new asphalt was laid a few days ago...Something not right here?!

I apologize in advance if you have all figured this out, but what business is Chief Craft talking about? IMO it would be the same one that captured the hooptie?!? I'm new so I hope I am not breaking any rules... I read them, and don't think so.

But back to you, Chief Craft. What about other businesses or residences that she would have gone past on her bike on the drive home? Do they have surveillance video? Because my sources are telling me there was a surveillance video where somebody goes by on a bicycle. You can`t tell if it`s a man or a woman. Do we know what time that was?

CRAFT: No, we don`t know what time it was, and the video is such a poor quality because a lot of these cameras are actually located inside of businesses for the purpose of videoing inside the business, and so they might catch something on the outside but...

GRACE: Well, Chief, what I don`t understand why we don`t know what time it was because, I mean, the fact that somebody is going by on a bike at, say, 1:45 when she`s missing at 2:00 could have establish that she had made it that far, Chief Craft.

CRAFT: Well, in that particular video, though, the time was noted to be off in the business. So we can get it down to about within an hour, but that`s about the best we can do on that.http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1205/24/ng.01.html

The road work sign was still there. The asphalt was laid in the last couple days.

Not one tiny scrape on it? Well, I suppose it's possible. But the supposed "rundown" shows the bike on its side all the way up under the bumper, with "bike" and "rider" fully under the front of the truck. So I guess she's all the way up under the front, basically the bike's almost in contact with the RF tire, but the truck just happens to be caught at the exact moment it stopped moving forward? She's that far under that the oil pan AND the skid plate that I think Z71s have, but neither those nor the frame touched her hard enough to press down on the bike with enough forward force to drag a single metal part forward hard enough to make a scratch. I suppose it's possible... but it seems to me to be a heck of a miraculous, low-percentage physics play.
Low percentage I AGREE! but, if she "passed out" and fell over to her left landing in that EXACT spot and 30 sec later a truck blew through and hit her???
Is the photo blurred just behind the front right wheel?
It's a stretch!

Maybe so. Again, I respectfully disagree. I truly hope that what I believe happened didn't happen.

Well, I do too, Because if our PD released a public photo to her family and the public of her getting mowed down, and withheld that info all this time, the eruption in this town will make Mt. Vesuvius look like a fart in the bathtub.

I humbly disagree. The truck would have to drop from the sky at the exact same moment, because of her location. No? IMO

I think this has been discussed, but I wonder how many images of the VOI were obtained from this point of view.

A shot of this truck just 10 feet or so down the road might have allowed more light to pass through the cabin. You might be able to see the number of occupants. Or at least, see the driver and front seat passengers.

what about the coulee/drainage that runs under the tower and parking lot? Do you know if that was searched or if it's even accessible?

Volunteers and cops were in the coulees the first day.

The only thing I have to add after catching up on posts is, IMO that's not a window decal people are seeing. I just don't think we'd be able to see one through TWO windows (back glass and rear passenger); tinted or not. I don't have a decal, but I can tape up a piece of paper or something on my back glass and take a pic from the same view that the cam captured the DWTIQ. I'd be surprised if I could see that piece of paper in the pic.

Agreed. And add to that the "angle of perspective" (I referenced in an earlier post) of that decal (it appears perfectly round, as though it were side-facing rather than front-facing) and the fact that we should be looking for something black, not white, and I think we're missing the mark here.

I still maintain that we're seeing a reflection from something outside of the truck.

I know. This would have to be lie upon lie by LPD.
1:47am -1:48am = 1 min?

Unless for instance photo one is at 1:47:52 secs
and photo 2 is 1:58:08 secs???

Technically not a full min.

just speculation...

I've been reading to see if it's even possible to be hit and a body to go under a truck or car, not that I believe that it happened in Mickey's case but here is a story that will make you at least think that it could happen.

SIOUX CITY, IA -
An update on a bicyclist who was hit and dragged more than 100 feet by a truck in Sioux City is an incredible tale of survival.

After weeks of surgery in a Minneapolis hospital, Monday Billy Kammerer was back in Sioux City.

William Kammerer is very sore, but says he's glad to be back in Sioux City and seeing his girlfriend for the first time in 3 weeks.

He has a lot of rounds of physical therapy to go before he's back on his feet, but he says he'll never forget the April morning he was hit.

After three surgeries in a Minneapolis Hospital, Monday William Kammerer was back in Sioux City's Mercy Medical Center, trying to get back on his feet after a bike ride he'll never forget.

"I remember all of it, unfortunately," said Kammerer.

He was riding his bicycle to work in Sioux City early on the morning of April 29th when he said a truck came out of nowhere, hit him, and dragged him more than 150 feet.

"You know when you're underneath the car getting pushed, and just the noise and the rocks and trying to get out, yeah, it was unreal," said Kammerer. "I was thinking to myself 'there's no way, this can't be happening.'"

It was a bump in the road that set him free, and sent him struggling to call for help.

"That's when the truck rolled over me and I heard all those bones break," said Kammerer. "I was just laying there with the upper body on the sidewalk and my right leg was all bent and looking at me and my left leg was all bent and looking at me, and I tried to reach into my back pocket to get my phone and call 9-1-1 and I couldn't."

The driver, 21 year old Fernando Garcia, faces three criminal charges - all misdemeanors.

As for Kammerer, with months of physical therapy to go, he says he's going to give his recovery 110% as he looks back at a morning he wishes he take back.

"I wish this wouldn't have happened, I wish there would've been some way I could have avoided it," said Kammerer.

Billy says he has another reason to pull through: he's going to be a dad.

He and his girlfriend are expecting a child sometime in November.

609 in the last thread?

Well, it's now 589, so bringing it forward. Mods have been deleting.

To stay on the safe side, keep images under 800px. That seems to work for everyone. An image over 800px should be uploaded as an attachment. It will show as a thumbnail to your post, and open in a new window when a reader clicks on it. This gives you the ability to add much larger photos.

Anyone who needs help with adding attachments to their posts can pm me or another mod and we'll be more than happy to help you.

I'm going to remove some of the posts on this subject now.

ETA: As we've seen here, what works on some devices doesn't work well on others. If you ever experience blown margins, please alert on the post right away. A mod will come along and fix it. No need to discuss it on the thread. Wait at least 15-20 minutes, and if the problem hasn't been repaired, go ahead and alert a second time. One of us will get to it as soon as we can.

I'll make a second set of all my uploaded photos then. One for the thread and one for Photobucket, just to make the Apple addicts happy.

Y'all better not stiff me on the tip!! :snooty:

Is it possible MS leaned to the side to adjust her pants or boot and the vehicle speeding came upon her without seeing her? I do not want this to be what happened!

  • #617
The victim in Sioux City was dragged under the vehicle, but I'm not clear from the article if his bicycle was dragged along with him.

IF I've been following correctly, those photos are supposedly 1 minute apart...1:47 and 1:48...
I could be wrong, but the 1:47 was the Versailles photo of MS. If there was MSM saying this truck pic was taken at 1:47, I missed it.

just speculation...

If these use standard rounding rules, both would be the same: 1:48.

Two photos that are labelled as 1 minute apart could be as little as 31 seconds apart.
