Thanks bethofalltrades! That has been said before, in not so many words, but it was great of you to give a more detailed explanation for those who might not have understood.

It's all fine and dandy if people want to play with the pics on their computers. I have editing programs that I use for my personal photography, but I have not saved any of the LE photos and tried to do anything with them, because I don't believe there is anything much to see other than what's obviously there. It's not only a problem when people post various versions of these images and they get reposted on a different thread without the disclaimers, but when they are taken from WS and reposted on other sites! I have seen several pictures that were taken from here--Chicken's specifically, and reposted on other sites. Now, he may have been the one to post them there, I don't know that, but I know that people are taking these photos off the site and posting them elsewhere, and 4-5 years from now, they will still be floating around online, possibly with a caption about MS, and someone will click them and believe that was an official photo.

Could be just my opinion but I do have personal experience that states most murderers must confess to someone. My friend had a family member that would commit crimes such as murder, rape, other smaller crimes. He would randomly blurt out the details of whatever crime he committed. She was only 12 yrs old!

It was like he just had to tell someone. It wasn't remorseful but kind of matter of factly and even with a bit of excitement. Usually he had a 'reason' for doing what he did but it was always self serving. He was even investigated for a murder once and it was like he couldn't wait to spill the details. He didn't seem worried at all and was even arrogant enough to dump the body by his house which is why he was investigated.

It was awful that he put this burden on a child but shows that there is something inside them that makes them have to say it out loud. Hopefully whoever is responsible for Mickey's disappearance has told someone. Even one person that comes forward whether out of responsibility or just for the reward money could put an end to this.

I thought about doing this. Would be helpful to get closer to the same perspective. I go back and forth from the WT photo to your photo Chicken, not seeing the curb/grass area in your pic and trying to measure distance by the fire hydrants and gas pumps. Maybe I could park under the cam and climb on top of my truck and snap a pic lol.

I couldn't get the same perspective because I don't have a fisheye lens. The LCG camera is somewhat fisheye. That's why you can see so far. Best I could would be to take to pictures and post them together.

Some trucks I've seen around here have a tow package in front of their trucks..looks almost like a large metal spool with a tow cable wrapped around it..

That would be a winch. That's not to be confused with the Z71 package. A winch is a different kind of add on.

Any time I have worked with graphics I have always put "requires permission", "property of xyz not to be reproduced" etc. If he did put those on those websites then nothing can be done.

Just a FYI type of thing....

That's the nature of the oilfield business. It's just the way it is.

I respectfully disagree. I have spent 23 years in the oilfield on five continents and this has not been my experience or my childrens experience. You would have to look at many factors before you could state this as fact.

Totally agree w you, lindseyw, on the potential harm of altered images down the road. I wasn't thinking long term, but the Internet is forever. *Fortunately or unfortunately!

I did see a few people saying pretty much what I said, but also a lot of posts still sticking to the idea of the enhanced images being accurate. *Playing with contrast or turning an image to b&w can be helpful in ferreting out details, but it all depends on what is there to work with, and sadly these images aren't great. *Although considering they're stills from surveillance video taken from a substantial distance away, I guess we're lucky to have any images at all.*

I haven't posted any of my pictures anywhere. Others must have done it. It's just pictures of public places, so I don't care who gets credit.

The idea that the picture of the DWT with the faked painted-in driver may get spread around and mistaken for real, makes me ill.

That's terrible. We worked harder for stories in college. Of course, those were the days of Watergate and reporters had to find their stories.

What is badly harming Mickey's chances of staying in the public awareness, and LE getting held accountable, is the fact that Lafayette barely has a functioning newspaper. Gannett bought the Advertiser and has mercilessly slashed it to an 8-page front section, with only a couple real reporting stories, and has cut out all investigative reporting. Local TV news isn't much better.

The town suffers because it's like not having a mirror in your house and trying to put on makeup. The town can't see itself. It's the largest town I've ever experienced with a non-functioning news media.

I keep seeing references to "enhancement" and "adding pixels" to the surveillance images, and I think it might help clear things up to understand how a photo editIng program does those things....

what I'm saying can be found (likely said better!) on the net. I will try to find some relevant links when I'm not posting from an iPad.

Fantastic! I've only been working with Photoshop and PSP for only about 5 1/2 years. Would you open the picture of the truck in the same lane as Mickey and see what you can see? I understand about resizing, resolution, etc.
What program do you have? I've been thinking about investing in CS5 or CS6 but I can't bring myself to spend the $$$$.

I get this! Our town's paper was bought out by the NYT and it's been combined with another town. In effect, neither place is getting the news they need. We stopped buying it because I can go to the hair salon and find out everything I need to know. The gossip there is as good as the print news.

I don't own a fisheye but I have several friends who do and I could borrow one.

Yeah, I didn't figure you cared if someone reposted the map you made before...but I kinda thought it might have been you b/c there was a poster named Chicken! It's the other pics like you're saying, that could cause confusion when reposted.

I have CS6 but no idea how to use it!

Any town that has a paper owned by Gannett is suffering from the same thing. Signed, a family member of several disgruntled former Gannett employees.

Somehow the family has to get the attention of the media again so I am going to toss some ideas out.

Maybe announcing the differences in the timestamps on the photos and asking anyone including LE for clarification.

If it is accurate that LE is talking about the wrong vehicle maybe the family can ask for the publics help again even if it is just the fact that it could be a different colour such as silver.

Something that the media can grab the readers attention. Such as additional missing girls. Maybe the families can work together.

I am certain others can come up with much better ideas than what I have posted.

What news affiliates are in Lafayette? The family should contact the big offices-Atlanta, New York, etc. and ask to be on their programs. If they bite, then the local news will be all over the story because the news business is not about the news, it's about moving up from small town to larger town to big time. New Orleans had a bunch of people who have moved to the national spotlight. It might be worth it to contact someone at channel 4 (CBS) or the channel 8 (Fox) and tell them you want to keep the story moving.

Youtube has great tutorials! I am so jealous!!!!

I used to have CS2. I'd suggest trying that or even 3, would be cheaper than 6. I actually like PSP and use that now.

All I see are a ton of options and no idea what to do with any of them. Hope to find some time to play with it.

Here's a list of local media: http://findmickeynow.com/#media
I just sent your suggestion to the social media team, about getting more national attention.
