It would be interesting to have it confirmed if she had the same backpack purse with her that night...the one that is seen on the daytime bike pic.

In purse land, the one she is wearing in daytime photo is what is known as a "crossbody". A backpack usually slings over one or both shoulders.

La[/QUOTE]

Of course but I read somewhere that it was a brown leather backpack purse.

well hopefully all of the different aspects of LE are working together on this, if not that might be a reason for no word (IMO). There is so much political BS that goes on behind the scenes that we don't know about.

Same here! When I go to bed it takes so long to go to sleep, just thinking about where she could possibly be. I have two daughters around her age and this has hit me like a ton of bricks. My son is 19 and going into the Air Force. He leaves next Monday, and I keep telling myself, at least I know where he is going and I will see him again. It just breaks my heart for the Shunick family.
I have two sons in their 20's, and I too have been extremely touched by Mickey's story. I go to sleep trying to envision what might have happened to her, and where she might be. The other night I woke up in a panic because I dreamed that it was one of my sons that was missing, and I felt the most awful, terrible void I have ever felt. I was relieved (to put it mildly) when I realized it was a dream, but at the same time felt absolutely miserable thinking what the Shunicks must be going through. I hope Mickey is found safe and sound very soon!

Because GMC/Chevy is manufactured by GM, there's very little difference, especially since 2007/2008 when both the Sierra and the Silverado switched to its current body.

The door handles could differ by package, such as a chrome package would have chrome handles, etc. It also could be personal preference, such as building a truck from the ground up to purchase it for as little as possible.

I've speculated that they are involved in a crime, have outstanding warrants, etc.

I've also speculated that they are afraid. I said this a couple of threads back: Do you honestly believe that LE will accept "Yeah I saw her, but that's it!" or "I didn't see her!" from this person?

My gut tells me no. However, I'm inclined to believe that LE is not looking for this truck.

I've said this as well.

Without actually seeing the video, we must go on what LE has released to us. They said it was a "Chevy Z71".

The decals can be bought.

Also, as for removal: I've been told on newer models; you can use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm it up then to peel it off. Then use baby oil, Goo Gone, or WD-40 to remove the leftover residue.

Because we do not know the year (I've speculated that it's a 2009-2011), I've been told that it isn't recommended to remove the decal on darker trucks due to sun exposure, etc. because the truck could still have the "decal", just not in vinyl form.

No worries, we're all working towards the same goal.

I came across a Chevy Colorado LTS with the Z71 package today. It was red but the body style appeared identical to the truck in the video.

I don't think they would be tailing a suspect-I think they would enter a house with a swat team...this is a missing person, who could possibly be alive. So I don't believe they have a suspect at all...

I think if they felt a suspect was holding MS a house or other dwelling, they would avoid (at all costs) trying to apprehend the suspect in any environment where MS could then be placed in the way of even more harm (gunpoint/knifepoint, etc.). Further, they'd conduct surveillance to ensure that there were not more than one person involved in the abduction and captivity of her.

Many, many innocent victim's families don't get to enjoy seeing their children grow up, make their contributions they have deligently prepared for, and be all that they can be. A sad reality in today's world, GrannyA..

The Schunick family has been inducted into the involuntary fraternity of the new life's normal. A fraternity that no family wants to be a member.

Mickey Schunick; an Anthropology major, may have went on to help solve many of the missing/murdered cases of the Silent Epidemic, as has anthropologist William M. Bass & others.
A tragic irony.

I wonder what ever was said about the items the investigator was given that might have been with Mickey that night, surely her mother would recognize the items. No more was ever said about it.

This is a very good question. There were also supposed to be a couple of sketches in addition to the items. Wonder if it all turned out to be bogus?

Which video?

If it's the DWT, the front isn't though. The front of the Colorado resembles the 2003-2007 Chevy Silverado.

Now, for some true P.I. work....

Regardless of all of the different types of scenario's that may have taken place....we know that the bike had a damaged back wheel rim and the tire was dislodged. Based on my research it takes quite a bit of force to damage a rim enough for the tire to come off. It had to have been bent rather significantly.

I have a bike and the rim is very solid and it's an inexpensive bike. Mickey's bike would have been much more durable based on the type of bike she had.

My question is....let's suppose she did not get hit by a car/truck...what could have the force to damage the rim?

We can rule out by hand...impossible. I can't picture a scenario where the bike could be propped up and hit to look like an accident. If it was thrown, I would imagine it would have to be from a skyrise to have the force to bend a rim. I'm having a mental block and just can't think of what could do this but I am sure there are possibilities. Anyone??

I bent my rim and dislodged the tire by jerking the wheel out of a crack, once before.

The crack was just large enough for my tire (it was a thin tire) to get lodged in it.

IMO, no sketches were needed because the identities were known. It is also my opinion that the announcement of the lead before it was thoroughly checked out was very irresponsible.

"Silence & missinformation in missing persons investigations only leads to innocent victim's lives lost and mounting cold cases"...

LaffySleuth brings up a good point that I think we keep overlooking. There is a big difference between durability in mountain bikes, road bikes, hybrid/touring bikes, etc. Road bikes and hybrid/touring bikes--I believe we can categorize Mickey's bike as such--aren't built to withstand big bumps or impact. Their rims are much less durable as the activities they are built for shouldn't involve having to withstand rough terrain/big bumps.

Someone earlier was talking about MS's hair possibly being a different color. This is a screen shot of a picture of MS with brown hair. This picture was aired during an interview of BW by Jane Velez Mitchell, in May. I think this is a very important picture of her to have out there on the web, because #1 if she is spotted, I doubt she will be wearing that huge smile that is shown in every picture on the fliers. And I am sure her hair is growing out now, and looking less blonde.
IMO

Wow, she looks very different with dark hair!

She really does! That is why I thought it was important to share the picture of the different look. Hopefully the family of MS will share the whole picture so we will have something better than the SS with the news stuff at the bottom.
She is such a beautiful person, we are praying for her.

How so? It's an interesting angle.

I just keep coming back to someone finding Mickey (and some of the other missing young girls - and I am not limiting area, I think there could be a traveler of some kind - ) and then stalking via FB. I keep mine pretty private, but, I just ot done working with a relative to get her girls (late teens) more private. They never gave it a thought. And I know I can come across as a paranoid Aunty/Mom/Friend, but hey I am a Websleuther and I KNOW things.

I folded a wheel riding over a Boston pothole once. The tire/tube stayed in place on the rim, inflated. A force stronger than the wheel is necessary. Mickey looks like the type to have a nice light weight aluminum wheel. I think there are some composites that are lighter than that. Might not be as strong. How does the tire come of tho? That sounds like manhandling... run over by vehicle.

I'm thinking that white-blonde is Charlie and Mickey's natural hair color, like their mother. She probably dyed it darker several times when she was younger. Of course if she's still alive and being held captive someone could have dyed her hair darker--maybe, maybe not. Depends on if they'd risk taking her out in public where people would see her. If they don't plan to do that, when why bother changing her hair color? But I don't think it's as likely that the blonde is "growing out" of her hair.

Along the same lines as her hair being brown and would be growing out by now....is her hair naturally curly or did she have a perm? If it is the latter, that might be growing out by now too.
