I'd pay for the staples..

I can't follow closely enough but who is this Radtke guy? Is he a local activist of some type? He clearly has a limited sense of morality and compassion...

That's just it -- his civic-mindedness on one hand seems to blind him of the human side of being civic-minded, at least in this case. Zealots of any kind are just dangerous, narrow-minded people -- no matter how well-intentioned they may think they are.

Thanks for the timeline, Island Hopper. Can you please correct the date in your miscellaneous facts section? Monday was May 21st (Mickey's birthday), not May 23rd.

Oh no! Yes I will make corrections stating that she planned to be in New Orleans on 5/21 to celebrate her birthday which is on 5/22. Thanks!

Island hopper:

Why no mention of the text message she got, after the phone call from Ashley?

I find it curious that in other news reports that was stated, and now, no mention?

There was some mention of it but from the source I viewed, it didn't appear to be confirmed. I do believe that she did receive a text and am looking for a confirmed source before I add it.

There are quite a few things I find ingesting that I did not include because I want to make sure it is not just a rumor or speculation. Nothing that is a bombshell but interesting.

I plan to add a lot more info once confirmed!

I do think this was an accident. I also think LE probably has a really great idea as to who was involved in this accident. The only reason I hesitate a little with accident, is I'm rather certain the driver of whatever vehicle hit Mickey was not of their right mind, and obviously, at this point, they (the driver and whomever may have been with them) are all about self preservation. Either that, or they've killed themselves too. I don't believe the latter to be the case, and I think that they are just as nuts as a serial killer, because any normal member of society would be riddled with guilt by now and would have come forward. One of my husbands friends was killed last week, in Lafayette, on a bike, hit and run. The driver later came forward. ( probably after they sobered up! Jmo)
Last night I agreed with MaHouston as to what happened to the Mick, but I would like to hold on to the idea that she is alive! I have to believe that.

I too feel obsessed with this case. I've never in my life been on any kind of Internet forum. My life is very personal. ( after all, it's MINE). I don't "Facebook", etc. I do, however, live 1/4 mile from where Mickey was last seen. I ride my bike there all of the time. The sidewalks are terrible, btw! And, st. Landry is very wide, so there is pleanty of room to share the road. I've lived in quite a few different larger cities (Baltimore and NOLA to give you an idea) and my head is not in the clouds about Lafayette, but this doesn't happen here! We won't let it! This case will NOT go cold!!! Anyone that has ever been around the people in the heart of Lafayette know that the community here is unlike anywhere. There is heart and soul here. This city really is a diamond in the rough.

Lafayette was not designed with the bike in mind. If you look at a map, it doesn't really look like Lafayette was even designed! Forever there were only two bridges that crossed the river that snakes through the city, so you had to drive to one end of the city or the other to get to the other side. Really silly. So to fix that, they knocked down an entire neighborhood to build a new bridge in the center. The growth of the city was obviuosly not factored into the last 100 year plan. The very small bike community here has grown tremendously over the last five years, and their hard work is paying off. Aside from the bicycles painted on the shoulder of Johnston street (the city calls them bike lanes), there is the new bike path and most importantly a long term plan for biking. The busses have bike racks. They are really trying.

I do not think BW or his bike had anything to do with Mickey disappearing. Whoever took BW's bike probably couldn't ride it, as I'm sure its a fixie too. They probably busted their 🤬🤬🤬 once whenever they tried to stop and ditched it then.

I have heard through the grapevine from people (that in my opinion, being the professional that they are should have had their lips zipped), that the driver is not unknown, because a person that knows them and about what happened has talked. They (the yapper) are after the reward money. That's not happening until Mickey is home. So, please hope they keep yapping and get money hungry soon!!!

Please, LET'S FIND MICKEY! BRING MICKEY HOME! KEEP THE FAITH!

She and her family deserve nothing less!!! It's our job as a community to ensure this case is not allowed to go cold!

FYI: the gravel road on the south side of whiskey bay has about nine unmarked white cars parked on the side of it right now and not a person in sight. Cannot be seen on camera. Seen while driving over about an hour ago.

I know. That is strange. Perhaps a message of where to meet up with whoever texted her!

I wondered the same thing so I googled him. He is known around New Orleans for removing graffitti and got the name Gray Ghost because he uses gray paint to cover the graffitti.

If this man is painting over graffiti with gray paint, he is also painting graffiti! What an idiot! A letter to the editor might get someone's attention.

I'm mostly looking at Florida which seems like a low pressure area for these high dollar trucks.

So, in summation, you can look at Silverados till the cows come home, but what's happening above the right rear wheel well is what makes this truck special.

Did anyone else see the article in today's Baton Rouge paper telling how an employee of Lafayette PD left his 11 month old son in the car and went into work. When he left work, he ran errands with his dead son's body in the car. He didn't realize the child was still in the car until his wife called him to find out where the baby was. Lafayette PD chose not to release the family's name! If it were you or me, our name would be splashed all over the media! Special protected privileges for members and staff of Lafayette PD!

She was last seen wearing a bright pastel, multi-colored shirt, grey acid washed skinny jeans and silver ankle boots.

I've heard these described as grey shoes.

terrible.

Based on all the recent reading and research I have worked on, I am almost positive they know who did this. It's my opinion that they think it was one person. It seems like it is just a matter of gathering enough evidence to make a case.

If the investigation is at a critical point then I can see how pushing the public to continue to look for a certain vehicle could jeopardize Mickey's return home safe or otherwise. A perp or witness is a lot more likely to talk if they have some control on how they relay info to LE vs being outed by the public and losing any leverage they feel they have.

Just an opinion.

  • #393
Could you link to that info please? Is that for just Lafayette or the parish as well?
Stephen Ortego- Rep from Carencro authored HB1138 this session which was to give cyclists the legal right to ride on sidewalks while providing protection for pedestrians. It failed to pass.

http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2012/04/house_rejects_sidewalk_cycling.html?mobRedir=false

Thanks!

LE may tell you that it is illegal to ride on the sidewalks, but my son tells me it is actually not against the law, so i looked it up. He is right! I linked to the Louisiana bike laws, with the extra Lafayette laws listed, too....it's in a prior thread.

My son also told me that a cop stopped him as he was riding on a sidewalk, telling him he needed to get on the roadway, but my son cited the law, and the cop just walked off and let him continue to bike on the sidewalk.

LE has stated that the phone call was the last activity, so the text must have preferred the call. Brettly said she received a call, and also a text, so he mentioned the text after he mentioned the call, but he never said the text came last.

Depends on who stated it. Her sister describes her as being a very vibrant dresser. It's all in the links provided. On one of the links there is a more detailed description of her clothing adding that the jeans were not just grey but acid washed grey and the ankle boots being silver. As well, not a muted pastel striped shirt but bright pastel.

Mahouston,
Oh, what an amazing person you are.

  • #396
Island hopper ... THANK YOU for the very helpful time line and synopsis of the case. It's a great (and quick) reference. The only suggestion I have right now is you might consider adding the dates LPD released video surveillance of MS and the truck (May 25th & May 26th). I'm not sure if those dates are of much significance other than how they might relate to the date/time line of the bicycle being found on the 27th. 'Sleuthing' wise, some members may find it of interest though.

Island hopper,
Your time line and media links are a valuable tool. Thank you!

I agree with you. Just wish they would hurry up and make an arrest. This person does not deserve to be walking around freely.

My heart breaks for this poor family. We live in a fast paced society where everyone has a lot on their mind. I have gotten in my car on a nonwork day and then found myself driving to work. We do some things automatically after awhile.

This man is going to have a tough time ever forgiving himself.

What is the link? I didn't see anything I read that said he worked for the LPD.

Could someone help me get a clean link to the video showing Rathke removing missing posters of Mickey? Thanks.
