@Notlaw, I'm talking about the picture of the truck on university near St. John's cemetary...I can't get a good link to the picture, so give me a few minutes. That is the only one where you can clearly see that there is a bed cover.

There are 5 public high schools in Lafayette. Based on where Mickey was traveling to, the school they are zoned for would have been at 11:30 am, but it is possible that the brother attended one of the other schools because they have a 'school of choice' system here that gives them specialized training outside of their normal school zone. Private school graduations were on different days.

The 11:30 time makes the most sense as to why they just went ahead without Mickey before being totally at a loss about her. The 2PM time a little less so but still understandable that the mom is trying to keep calm on behalf of her son considering it was his special day.

alligators like decomposing flesh
.
And, although it is not widely known, just like Hannibal Lecter, they like it with fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Sorry. Back to task.

These types of vehicles are VERY common in my area and in Louisiana. For instance, if you were to survey any parking lot in the area, I'd say at least 80% of vehicles are pickup trucks.

I drove from Carencro to Lafayette (near Ambassador/Kaliste Saloom) going down the Evangeline Thruway and up Pinhook and Kaliste Saloom...I counted 19 white Z71's on that ride, just traveling (not taking into account what was in parking lots, residences, etc.)

The discussion of Derrick Todd Lee is incidental at this point in time to a discussion based on the facts of what we know of Mickey's disappearance; it does not open the door to make statements of a racial nature.

Not saying this is your intent here; rather, just issuing a caution to all who read and post on this thread.

wfgodot, it was not my intent to make a racial statement. I am simply seeking the truth in Mickey's disappearance.

I understand.

IMO, if they called off the search at Whiskey bay so quickly, especially without being able to properly search the previous day due to tidal conditions, then they have reason to believe she's elsewhere. Alligators (as well as other water dwellers) would have at the body if it were in the water, but it's not something that would happen on day 1, or even be complete in a week.

Are there NO factors we can use to help eliminate from the pool of Z71s we see???

Not one mention of the "Caddy." People around here are going to get so fixated on the white truck that they are going to forget that the "Caddy" will be much easier to find. The police need to interview the driver. It must be found... even if they have to go to New Orleans to find it.

I did say that the person driving the white truck was probably from a rural area around Lafayette. Most of the people but not all (apparently i need to say this) that drive a Z71 around here are outdoorsman, hunters, fisherman or the truck is work related(farmer). Most people that live and work in the city do not need a $50,000 4 wheel drive truck.

But there are a frustratingly large number who have them anyway. While I have seen HUNDREDS of those white trucks around the city since the photo was released, I have yet to see any with the aftermarket chrome gas-cap cover... and I've been on the lookout.

But at some point the tidal effect has to lessen, doesn't it? I thought that is you had a really huge, wide area it would act sort of like a shock absorber, as opposed to a narrow cut? But I'm out of my scientific depth here.

That said, the Atchafalaya is one of the deepest rivers in the world, believe it or not. So I guess that's a lot of water mass moving with the tide, and may well be able to push the Basin water around pretty good, like a master cylinder on a car.

The Atchafalaya has notoriously strong currents. Very strong.

I didn't mention it because I didn't see a single caddy like that today--I even took the Thruway through the North Side instead of the interstate in hopes of seeing it.

I was looking for the Cadillac as well on my drive, and didn't see anything remotely comparable to it.

Good for you for looking. The more eyes, the better. :-)

Is the chrome the only aftermarket possibility? And could it be at all tinted?

Been doing that for several days now. Being from lafayette you can imagine how many vehicles I've looked at. None yet though with the noticeable damage. But on the upside I think my presence has thwarted a good bit of potential crimes because everyone learned real quick Ive been doing surveillance in the neighborhood :D

EXCELLENT! Keep looking!
