Found the handgrips but won't confirm whether they were on the handlebars or not.

'Obviously they wouldn't have been mentioned if they were on the handle bars'. No other bicycle parts were mentioned except damage to the wheel.

The handle bar grips are of soft tissue & would possibly contain dna. Possibly indicates a forensically aware predator.

this is so incredibly frustrating. my husband doesnt understand why im devoting so much time to this, and i really dont either. but i feel like the clues have to be there. its just so weird to not have any evidence at the scene. i really dont think she would have left her route to get into a vehicle without a fight of some sort, unless it was a quick unexpected blow to the head. : ( i really hope they find prints on the bike. im holding out hope for that.

Ditto my husband. Rolls his eyes at me when he sees I'm "still" on here. I quit searching b/c I don't like the "no cell phones allowed" rule (well now searches have been suspended indefinitely anyway) but have still been posting flyers, spreading new info on FB, etc. He doesn't understand why I'm getting so wrapped up in this.

If dumped EAST of the boat launch, that the same exact spot that DTL did his dumps. There's a shoulder there... and fishermen found the bodies in the canal.

hitting a bike from the rear would bend the wheel and dislodge a tire...

Because there is no pull off lane on the bridge, and the driver would have to leave the car/truck in the middle of the hwy....is the reason LE doesn't believe it was dropped from the bridge. JMO,IMO, etc.

Maybe the bike was found close to the waters edge, and not further out leading them to believe it wasn't tossed off the bridge.

Wonder if there are any above ground crypts/tombs with easily removed stones, where a body could be hidden?

It's been some time since I've been inside that cemetary, but IIRC, yes, there is.

Just getting back on here, did I miss the presser?

TNGirl615, I watched it from beginning to end and still missed it..Someone please post the link once it is up.

Easily dropped just east of the boat launch.

look HERE

Definitely possible. But I just have a gut feeling. And what's the top secret deal on the handlebars? Strange. I get why they would look at them, I guess the LPD doesn't want to tell all.

Yes, in the presser they said the bike was found submerged just off the bank into the basin.

I think what's leading them to know that it wasn't tossed, is that only the back tire is damaged.

Was Mickey wearing a bike helmet?

I don't think the pics shown of her in between the Circle K and the LCG building show a helmet, but I could be wrong.

Someone wrote on Facebook that they remember their handgrips used to pop off during the summer time due to the pressure from the heat. They thought the underwater pressure may do the same.

Anyone else know of this phenomenon?

Honestly, I cannot even conjure up a realistic scenario where Mickey is alive...I know there are some fantastical ones, but truly...if someone hit her on her bike and took her away, injured or worse...are we supposed to believe they are nursing/hiding her? And to what purpose? She can ID them by now, if she is alive.

I do think they will find those drivers though...

Was Mickey wearing a bike helmet?

It doesn't really look like it in the shot by the gas station and it hasn't been mentioned as far as I know. Maybe somebody who's searched can say if that's one of the things they were told to look for.

The first thing I thought when reading the handle bars comment was that maybe it would show signs of a struggle. If she held on to her handle bars trying to get away from the perp and they got pulled off, or show some kind of other trauma. JMO

I agree. In my opinion a first DUI should result in removal of the license and vehicle placed up for auction, no matter how many liens there are on it

ETA: DUI with killing of another: death penalty. I think they take perp out to a field in front of a firing squad in Germany for DUI with killing of another!

Germany doesn't have the death penalty.

The thing that really stood out for me was that they wouldn't confirm if the hand grips were on the bike--I don't even understand why somebody thought to ask this. I suppose the perp probably used the handgrips to move the bike and may have removed them to try to get rid of evidence but then you'd think s/he would have destroyed them. Also, my hand grips are really difficult to get off of the handlebars...it's not something that would likely happen in an accident of any type.
I think it was because of the way he worded the answer. That they were testing the bike and the handlebars and the handle grips or something like that. When he said it I found it a little odd too. The question seemed apropos to me at the moment.
