A body has been discovered in a small pond along Old Mansfield Road in Logansport, DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle has confirmed.

The body is a female but an identification has not been made.

A specific cause of death could not be determined because of the advanced decomposition of Miranda Whitton’s body, Lt. Adam Ewing said.

Results of toxicology tests performed at autopsy were received this week and revealed the presence of drugs in Whitton’s system...

Whitton’s death will remain an open case.
