Very good point.I agree, the timeline is awfully tight. But if they headed directly to Happy's after the game, then there's the opposite problem. Surely it doesn't take the pair an hour and a half to exit the arena, find an Uber and make the 10-minute trip back downtown.
Even with crowds there's a good hour in that timeline that remains a mystery.
My guess is that for various reasons, the trip to Penthouse was omitted from "Version One". Likewise, in "Version Two, the Penthouse jaunt is admitted to- but an earlier arrival time at Happy's (at 9:30) is also retained
I really think the key to mystery lies at the Penthouse Club with a stay longer than 50 minutes. I can clearly see the men going to a strip joint and then one (M) arranging for "freelance" private entertainment after hours.
I can sort of see M, or both men, impulsively buying what would likely be very mediocre quality marijuana from an "at risk youth" type vendor loitering around outside the LSU game.
But...
I cant see M going on a quest off the beaten path for hard drugs after the LSU game. In the end, its very likely that he simply does not use them and has no interest in experimenting with them.
Then factor in that he is not from Baton Rouge and as locals @bayoually have mentioned, the areas beyond the interstate get quickly and obviously "iffy"- at best. This negative change would be apparent even if one is intoxicated.
