Uh oh. Not another New Orleans water possibility. For a while, we were calling it magnetic water. But we honestly have so much water that if you aren't paying attention for one second, you can end up in a canal, pond, river, lake and everything in between.

I was brought to Websleuths by Terrilyn Monette. She was found in her car in the pond in City Park. No foul play is suspected by police. Another girl got off the interstate, but she veered off before the actual exit. Drove her car right into the lake. She was found there by the last phone pings.

I'm very nervous if the last phone pings were near water. Need to contact Mark Michaud, who found Terrilyn and another guy who also was in the water by the Spillway (interstate near Kenner-ish).

I just heard on the news the coroner officially identified them. Pulled from her car in the boat launch. Considered homicide...... so sad.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has recovered the bodies of two Pearl River friends missing since February, according to the coroner's office.
The bodies of Raegan Elizabeth Day and Dustin Hartline were recovered from a car found submerged in the area of the East Pearl River Boat Launch on Highway 90. The STPSO is investigating the case as a double homicide.

On its Facebook page, the Sheriff's Office posted the following:

Members of the STPSO dive team and detectives located a 2011 Chevrolet Camero with two bodies inside, believed to be those of Raegan Elizabeth Day and Dustin R. Hartline, the two friends reported missing from the Pearl River area since Feb. 15.

The investigation into their disappearance led detectives to the East Pearl River Boat Launch, where the vehicle was located this afternoon.
The case is being handled as a double homicide, and the bodies were turned over to the St.Tammany Parish Corner's Office.
We will continue to work this investigation until it is solved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both of these victims.

More information will be released as it becomes available.

You know, whatever happened probably happened while they were in the car, right? It wouldn't make sense to put them both back in the car to run it into the boat launch. Unless they were in the trunk, just to have it all disappear together.

I figured it was our water, but I didn't expect it to be double homicide in the middle of the day!

Mpnola-I agree. Whatever happened occurred I’m the car and I believe it happened fast. Could 2 people fit in the trunk of a Camaro? It’s sad. Dustin’s dad lost another son not long ago.

I wonder what the motive for the killing was.

It was established pretty quickly that it was a double homicide. I guess they were shot and no weapon near them. Awful.

WWL-TV reports that Sheriff Randy Smith said he has leads on possible suspects.

"It’s not the outcome we wanted for the family, and we are just glad that we can bring some closure to the family. It’s an active investigation. We do have some leads and some suspects and tips that we are following up on," Smith said.

An autopsy to determine the manner of death will be performed Tuesday, according to a spokesman for St. Tammany Parish Coroner Charles Preston.
The bodies were positively identified using tattoos, the spokesman said.

Four people arrested in deaths of Pearl River pair found dead in car

Four people have been arrested in connection with the murders of Raegan Day and Dustin Hartline, whose bodies were found in her car in the East Pearl River Monday, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

According to the post all individuals directly involved in the murders are in custody. The investigation is continuing, and other arrests are possible, the post said.

This sounds like some type of ambush. They must have been killed shortly after leaving on their trip.
Why would four people and possibly more want Raegan and Dustin dead.

I'm thinking LE must have been investigating this as homicide from the very beginning but they did not release those details to the public in order to keep the suspects unaware. They declared it a double homicide before the bodies were even autopsied to determine cause of death. Maybe the car was found because someone talked? I hope they have an airtight case to put the murderers away!

This article posted previous says they did receive a tip about the car. It's not a quote from anyone though.
