ST. TAMMANY – Two bodies were recovered on Monday afternoon that are believed to be two missing friends from Pearl River, the St. Tammany Sheriff's Office says.
The sheriff's office says the matter is now being investigated as a double homicide.
The bodies were recovered in the area of the East Pearl River Boat Launch on Highway 90 on Monday afternoon.
The two friends reported missing are 20-year-old Raegan Day and 28-year-old Dustin Hartline. They were last seen Feb. 15 in Pearl River on their way to Kenner before heading to a doctor’s appointment in Baton Rouge. The two were in Day’s dark blue 2011 Chevy Camaro when they were last seen.
The bodies have not been officially identified, however the sheriff's office told Eyewitness News that the bodies are believed to be Day and Hartline. Their families are being notified of the discovery, the sheriff's office says.
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has recovered the bodies of two Pearl River friends missing since February, according to the coroner's office.
The bodies of Raegan Elizabeth Day and Dustin Hartline were recovered from a car found submerged in the area of the East Pearl River Boat Launch on Highway 90. The STPSO is investigating the case as a double homicide.

Members of the STPSO dive team and detectives located a 2011 Chevrolet Camero with two bodies inside, believed to be those of Raegan Elizabeth Day and Dustin R. Hartline, the two friends reported missing from the Pearl River area since Feb. 15.
The investigation into their disappearance led detectives to the East Pearl River Boat Launch, where the vehicle was located this afternoon.
The case is being handled as a double homicide, and the bodies were turned over to the St.Tammany Parish Corner's Office.
We will continue to work this investigation until it is solved. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both of these victims.

"It’s not the outcome we wanted for the family, and we are just glad that we can bring some closure to the family. It’s an active investigation. We do have some leads and some suspects and tips that we are following up on," Smith said.
An autopsy to determine the manner of death will be performed Tuesday, according to a spokesman for St. Tammany Parish Coroner Charles Preston.
The bodies were positively identified using tattoos, the spokesman said.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the murders of Raegan Day and Dustin Hartline, whose bodies were found in her car in the East Pearl River Monday, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
According to the post all individuals directly involved in the murders are in custody. The investigation is continuing, and other arrests are possible, the post said.

I'm thinking LE must have been investigating this as homicide from the very beginning but they did not release those details to the public in order to keep the suspects unaware. They declared it a double homicide before the bodies were even autopsied to determine cause of death. Maybe the car was found because someone talked? I hope they have an airtight case to put the murderers away!
