Why were the kids in their father's custody? Did she have a significant other? Could the Father of her kids have lured her out with an emergency with the kids? Do the kids remember anything from that time?

Excellent questions... Could it be the father of her children who called her? So she would go out like that in nothing but the clothes on her back, and then her car would appear on a channel? Her phone records? Maybe he wanted revenge on her? It's more likely they called her by phone so there wouldn't be witnesses at her door knocking. If the keys were left in the ignition, then she was taken out of the car... perhaps unconscious, perhaps dead. The two children grew up without their mother...
whatever the case,
Rest in peace.
