Carriere planned to return to her home on Azalea Drive, but she never arrived and has not been seen again.

Did anyone ever look at Phillip's family camp? Do we even know for sure that Vickie returned from that trip?

Edited because I had another thought.

Were there ever any UID infants found around this time? Or even dropped off/abandoned that were found?

The Vanished Podcast just released an episode about Vickie's disappearance.

On July 12, 1987, 18-year-old Vickie Carriere was spending time with her boyfriend. Vickie was eight and a half months pregnant and eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby boy. That day, the couple was at his family’s fishing camp before starting the drive back to Vickie’s home in Waggaman, Louisiana.

According to her boyfriend, who was also the baby’s father, they stopped at a local convenience store, just minutes from her home. He said he went inside to buy a soda for Vickie and chocolate milk for himself. When he returned to the car, Vickie and all of her belongings were gone.

When she didn’t come home that night, her parents were immediately alarmed. It wasn’t like Vickie to disappear, especially so close to her due date. They feared for both their daughter and the grandson they were so ready to welcome. In the days that followed, those fears deepened. Vickie missed her baby shower, and then her due date came and went without a word. More than 38 years later, Vickie’s family is still searching for answers, and for the baby boy she never got to hold.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Vickie Carriere and her unborn son, please contact the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office at (504) 363-5500.

Just listened to the Vanished episode on this case. That podcast is, at times, very frustrating. There seems to be instances where they gloss over seemingly important details. In this case, they mention the sister of Vickie being at the fishing camp at the same time but there is just not much related to what she may have seen. I understand that she has passed away, however, I would think she was asked through the years what happened or what she witnessed. Also, there is a mention at the very end of a neighbor witnessing Vickie hugging her sister Sandra and, I believe, her sisters boyfriend while crying and throwing a to go bag into a car ( this is seemingly after she left the camp and it should be noted that the boyfriend is the brother of Vickie's babies father). This whole point is kinda mentioned in passing and quickly moved past. The episode in general is a bit confusing.

This is a depressingly familiar story. Older abusive guy gets a young vulnerable girl pregnant and kills her because he didn't want the baby. Makes up a bogus story how a 8-month pregnant woman just went off on her own and the police shrug it off.
