Week-long search for missing Opelousas man continues

His father said Kinnerson was with about 15 other men who were gathering for what he believed was a bachelor party. He did not get the impression that his son was in any danger.

Opelousas Police say they do not suspect foul play and confirmed that they are working with multiple agencies, including the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office, to locate Kinnerson.

The case may eventually be turned over to state police.

I'm confused. MSM have given conflicting reports. Was Wilfred's car found in Bastrop or in Opelousas? Was it located on 5 Oct or 8 Oct? I've pieced together a timeline from their reports but had no luck finding a definitive answer. Normally I'd think it's just one outlet who reported inaccurate info, but KATC has reported both that his car was found on 5 Oct in Opelousas and on 5 Oct in Bastrop. KLFY & WBRZ both report his car was located on 8 Oct. KLFY notes the car was found in Opelousas; WBRZ doesn't specify the location. o_O

I tend to think his car was found in Opelousas. I can't find a N. Market Street in Bastrop, LA using Google Maps. Here's a map of N. Market St. in Opelousas. But when?

And this. I guess Wilfred went missing from Opelousas on 5 Oct 2021. It matters because Bastrop to Opelousas is about a 3 hour drive. The sad reality is that he could be, and likely is, hidden somewhere along the isolated highway between the two cities. :( What does Mr. Hatfield and the other 14 men have to say about Wilfred's whereabouts?

Family of missing Opelousas man says they suspect foul play
12 Nov 2021

SBM
She says Bastrop, Louisiana, is the last place they knew Wilfred was at. They say he was spending the night at a friend’s. On October 4, he texted his daughter, that he was on his way home. That was the last time she heard from him. [snip] His family started searching, and four days after they last heard from him, they found his car parked down the road from his father’s restaurant. His family believes someone may have planted his car there because they haven’t seen or heard from him since. “Very much, foul play is suspected at this time,” his sister told News Ten.

They found his car four days after they last heard from him which was on 4 Oct. I suppose his car was located on 8 Oct. Yet again, I'm confused. :)

The foundation is also assisting the family of Wilfred Kennerson III who has been missing from Opelousas, Louisiana, since Oct. 5. Kennerson was last spoken to by phone on Oct. 4. His vehicle was seen on Oct. 5 with a group of Black men inside but Kennerson was not present. The vehicle was later found abandoned and his home was ransacked.

@YaYa_521 I may be wrong but is it possible he:
•arrived in Bastrop on Monday, Oct 4 where he stayed the night at a friend’s house; attended party; last heard from by phone
•at some point on Tuesday, Oct 5 he headed back to Opelousas
•his vehicle was spotted with men inside it on N. Market in Opelousas, it was later abandoned that day; Oct 5
•some point his home was ransacked
•on Friday, Oct 8 his vehicle was found (N. Market, Opelousas)

JMO I imagine his home was ransacked by people looking for something, and wonder if his trip to Dallas and Los Angeles had anything to do with that:

Law enforcement in St. Landry Parish say that 35-year-old Wilfred Kennerson III traveled to Dallas and Los Angeles on October 1, 2021 then returned on October 4th to Bastorp, Louisiana. Kennerson was last spoken to by phone on October 4, 2021 at approximately 10:35 pm and by text at 11:45 pm.

Family of missing Opelousas man believes he was murdered

On October 4, 2021, 36-year-old Wilfred Kinnerson III texted his daughter that he was heading back home to Opelousas from Bastrop, Louisiana, however, he never made it. Four days later, his most prized possession, his car, was found in Opelousas. Still, he was nowhere to be found.

His sister says she believes he’s dead. Not only that, she believes his disappearance was no accident.

As more has gone on, his sister states she got calls from anonymous people claiming to know details about what happened to him.

In addition to calls from anonymous sources, she says details police have shared with her have led her to believe her brother was killed.

Many people say Kinnerson is incarcerated, though jail records show he has not been arrested nor is he in jail.

Kinnerson’s family believes they know what happened to him but still do not have justice. His sister said the week of Christmas, she got an anonymous call. That person told her she could find her brother’s body on Harris Road in Collinston, Louisiana, a town near Bastrop. Kinnerson’s sister said says police found a body there soon after.

On Dec. 23, she said law enforcement brought her and her family in to take DNA samples. It’s been five months, and they’re still waiting for those results to find out if this is, in fact, her brother.

While Bastrop Police are investigating Wilfred Kinnerson’s missing person’s case, Opelousas Police are also working to find out what happened. Opelousas police say Wilfred Kinnerson’s family’s DNA was sent to an LSU crime lab. They do not know how long it will take for the results to come back.

The family of a missing Opelousas man is crying out for answers. They say they believe he’s dead, but his case is nowhere near closed.

The family of Wilfred Kinnerson III, 36, said he spent the night at a friend’s in Bastrop, Louisiana, on October 3, 2021.

The next day, he texted his daughter that he was on his way home to Opelousas. That was the last time anyone heard from him. When he didn’t pick up his daughter from school, his family reported Kinnerson missing. Days later, his car was found abandoned in Opelousas.

“I strongly believe that’s my brother,” sister Angie Kinnerson said. “I do not want this case to go cold. I want arrests to be made. I need closure for my family. I need my brother’s soul to be at rest and to be at peace because this has gone on too long.”

Details of Disappearance

Kinnerson traveled to Dallas, Texas and Los Angeles, California in early October 2021. On October 4, he returned to Bastrop, Louisiana and stayed with a friend known as Hatfields. He spoke to people on the phone at 10:35 p.m., and at 11:45 p.m. he texted his teenage daughter saying he was on the way home.

He normally picked up his daughter from school every day, but after she got that text he never picked her up again. He was reported missing after he didn't pick her up on October 5.

At the time of his disappearance, Kinnerson was driving a silver 2016 Cadillac CT6 with Texas license plate number NPN9232. A photo of it is posted with this case summary.

On October 5, the vehicle was seen on North Market Street with several men inside, but Kinnerson wasn't inside it. Later that day, the car was found abandoned in Opelousas, Louisiana and Kinnerson's home was discovered to be ransacked. He has never been heard from again.

Kinnerson's family believes he may have been murdered. His case remains unsolved.

Why is there still not any news on the DNA results??? I couldn't find an obituary or funeral notification. Who is Terrance Hatfield and what does he know?? I have seen no mention of him other than he was traveling with the guy. If his car was found "down the road from his father's restaurant", doesn't that give rise to some suspicion?? Whoever dumped it must have known that his father's restaurant was nearby and the car would soon be noticed, right??

Sooooo many questions.

I agree! The car being dropped off near fathers restaurant tells me this person knows him. I wonder if this person(s) were looking for something in his home or just robbing him. They could have gotten his address/keys if he was carjacked or something but knowing about the fathers restaurant makes me think this is closer to home. IMO
