Lamar Odom fighting for life after overdosing at brothel

It is going to be 48 hrs tonight.. if there is no improvement by tomorrow morning I would think they will do some tests for brain damage. jmo

If and if it comes down to Khloe having to "Pull the plug" so to speak I have no doubt her decision will be what Dr.'s have told her and what Lamar would want. I had to do it with both my Parents and could have cared less about the $. I knew neither would want to exist on machines or as a vegetable as we had these discussions. I never looked back. My Family knows my wishes and Hubby and I have all covered legally. No quality of life. Let me go. On a lighter note how bout those "Jays" Hubby and Son will be there in T.O. on Tuesday for the game.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I went through the same thing with my dad and there was never any doubt. I think people know and understand. It's harder for the people who are left to let go. I believe that's where the most indecision comes from. I hope it doesn't get to that point for Lamar though.

Yeah, how about them Jays? Joey Bats, Joey Throws! I live here and the whole city was celebrating last night.

Thank You and so sorry you had the same journey. Life goes on. As it should be. So happy T.O. was celebrating and better yet got to LOL
ETA- nice to meet you fellow Canuck. I have seen you on several of the same threads

Florence Odom, the former NBA star's grandmother, said she was devastated her disabilities were keeping her from being at her grandson's side.

"I know Lamar didn't do the things they are saying he did. ... He's beautiful. If you ever were to meet him you would say the same. I don't listen to gossip," she said.

The pressures of celebrity could have taken their toll on her grandson, the 89-year-old said.

"Lamar being on the show with the spotlight could have gotten to him."

LOL I remember the episode where Lamar had to have huge dental work done a poster mentioned earlier. He always made me laugh. Walking around in those basketball shorts with those looong ole legs. I loved the banter with the 3 when Khloe's Brother Rob lived with them.

If there should be any shade right now I have it for this Brothel owner. He seems to be in CYA mode. Oh yeah no drugs allowed, yet the 2 girls elude to some cocaine use. This guy seems like a slimeball to me. IMO. Like he would kick out a high paying client because he "may" be getting high. Got on the airwaves ASAP. I think the K camp is circling the wagons and giving Lamar whatever dignity remains.

I wish she knew how people really feel about Lamar and that ... I want to say nobody judges him... what do I say? Logical people don't? ?? Well, anyway, you guys know what I mean. I so feel for her, all of them and all of you that have dealt with situations like this.

Poor Lady. She is 89. I hope she can focus on all the good in Lamar and ignore the white noise. At that age I hope she has somebody shielding her somewhat.

Really outside of the drugs he was a really good person.

Brothel guy was just on Nancy G. again. Said he didn't like being told to let Khloe talk if and when. Words to that effect. Said he would rather Khloe had called him and asked him what happened. Yeah that would be at the top of my list of people to call at such a time!!!! I would leave the investigation to LE. Tend to Lamar and Family. Good grief!

This is true of so many people.
I come from a family of addicts.
We've lost a few to overdoses or suicide.
Others died of natural causes after getting clean.
Those were especially heartbreaking.

Some of them were always jerks.
Most were amazing people who had a rough life and made bad choices.
Lamar seemed like one of the better people. :twocents:

Kim, Kris, Kourtney and Kylie are heading back to L.A. after being at Lamar Odom's bedside since Tuesday, Khloe refuses to leave. Kim has an appointment with a pregnancy specialist who flew to LA just to meet with her; she's had an ongoing condition in which her placenta is growing too deep into her uterus. They all left on a private jet.

Kendall, who's in London, is on her way to Vegas to be with Khloe.

The entire family plans to head back to Vegas this weekend to be with Lamar.

Based on what I deduced from various news articles, I believe the grandmother who raised Lamar was his maternal and she passed-away in 2004. No citations, sorry, so this post is...

In your opinion, would fluttering the eyes or squeezing someone's hand be signs of brain activity? Or could they be involuntary responses?

I am assuming you are a RN, correct?

I am. :-) It could be either. Spontaneous movements occur in brain dead patients. According to the American Academy of Neurology, it occurs in as many as 39% of brain dead patients. Of course, I hope he is in there somewhere and still has brain activity and will recover, however remote the chances are.

The study examined all patients at the hospital during an 18-month period with a diagnosis of brain death. Of the 38 patients, 15 had these motor movements. In all cases, the movements were seen in the first 24 hours after brain death diagnosis, and no movements were seen after 72 hours.

Some of the movements occurred spontaneously; others were triggered by touch. Examiners used tests designed to elicit motor movements, such as lifting the arms or legs or touching the palm of the hand.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) tests did not show any brain activity in any of the patients with movements.

No. The grandmother who raised him died in 2003 I believe. I read earlier today that his son who died, died on the same day his grandmother did, three years later. How weird is that?

You are right, she died in 2004. So it was two years later that his son died.

Great discussion tonight on this topic with Dr. Drew

Thank you for your response. And I really hope he is in there somewhere too.
