TH tried to set this up with this gardner, and couldn't. I figure she didn't quit planning whatever she was planning. Who did she approach next?

IF the murder for hire scheme is fact, that would tell me Terri is not a hands on murderer - a distance murderer at most? That gives me pause as to her being able to murder a child she took care of since he was two years old.

On the other hand, I think she hates Kaine, feels trapped, without an escape. I'm surprised he is still alive. He has one wife who wanted a separation after being married one year and filed for a divorce when 8 months pregnant - he brought in Terri to nanny when Kyron was 2.

Now we have a 2nd wife with a murder for hire request - and his child missing. Where is Kyron, I don't believe she murdered him. moo mho

OT Alert..........you guys ought to be thankful you can get your yard done so cheap! LOL Man my yard is tiny and it costs me 30.00 per week or every other week depending on the growth.........wow.

I have to pay $50.00 every week and a half for the yard work and I live in Louisiana! If my great neighbors were not so anal about their lawns I wouldn't have to have it done so often. The grass grows so fast! I do have almost an acre of grass, shrubs, trees and flower beds tho. I refuse to have the ugly lawn on the block.

I do call a landscaper if I need shrubs replaced and seasonal flowers planted. Most landscapers earn lots o' bucks here.

I am only human, tho, and wonder just how much landscaping actually went on.

This article really did stun me. I was so not expecting anything such as this. I now believe that Terri did either harm Kyron fatally or sold/gave him away. I am so glad that she is no longer allowed around ANY children. Poor little Kyron. I have come to care so much for him just as many thousands of people have all across this country. GB him wherever he may be.

Is there a chance that the landscaper totally misunderstood what Terrie really meant when she offered to give him money to whack her husband, due to English being his second language?
Have we been told that English is a second language for the landscaper?

right...but that doesn't mean he can't be charged at all. The FBI can enforce it, certainly, right?

No. The FBI has federal jurisdiction only, and if this is a crime in Oregon (as opposed to being a federal crime that was not reported & thus federal law violated) then Oregon handles it.

One definition of "blended" according to dictionary.net

...to Pollute by association, to spoil, to corrupt...

Yes, like in watercolor painting when you blend so much the colors get muddy.

 I'm starting to smell a mental health defense in this case. jmo

The only mental health defense that would qualify in court would be insanity. Meaning the defendant would not know right from wrong. If a defendant lies about their actions and covers them up, they know right from wrong and are not insane.

It was reported he didn't go to LE. LE went to him after discovering this potential hit for hire.

Where was this reported? This OregonLive article says only: "After Kyron disappeared June 4, investigators with the county's Major Crimes Team tracked down the landscaper in the course of trying to interview everyone who had contact with the boy's family."

Some might jump to the conclusion that this means the landscaper didn't come forward voluntarily, but remember that a big part of LE's effort to "track down . . . everyone who had contact with the boy's family" consisted of putting out public appeals for anyone who'd had contact with them to come forward. We don't know that this isn't how they "tracked down" the landscaper.

I don't believe for one minute this wasn't 'leaked' by LE.

And how Kaine can think that the whole community should care and be involved in looking for his son and not pay any attention to the family that son lived with is just, just..... darn, what is the word I am looking for here. Delusional?

Good word!

My opinion is that Kaine seems to be a husband that his wives know is going to take the children, maybe out of love or maybe for spite. It seems if both wives were so worried about that at one time, then Kaine must throw around the threat - "I'm going to take the kids and there's nothing you can do about it!"

I agree it's no reason for Terri to plan a murder, but maybe it didn't start out as a motive for money, but spite. Was she capable of placing Kyron in harm's way? There's no real logic to get rid of Kyron in a devious fashion...is there?

If you are capable of contacting someone to kill a person, then you are capable of just about anything. If the motivation was Kaine was overbearing and would take the kids, isnt it ironic that her flesh and blood, is with Kaine right now anyways? Had Kaine been killed, Kyron would have went with him mom, and she would have had her bio kids and money, more than likely.

She obviously wanted to hurt Kaine in some way, and one way of hurting Kaine was doing something to his son.

Here's the ORS (Oregon Revised Statutes) official website:

http://www.leg.state.or.us/ors/ors_info.html

Note that only the 2009 print edition of ORS is considered the official text of the law.

I can answer some questions about ORS if you have any.

I've been reading up on it a little and it seems that misprision has been rejected by most (if not all states). Only one state, apparently, has ever prosecuted such a case, and the Federal law is rarely, if ever, enforced. So I think it's safe to conclude that although there may be the basis for a Federal prosecution, it won't ever happen.

eta: I just saw RoughCollie's post re fed v. state criminal law enforcement. Thanks!

There is no basis for a federal prosecution. I have a highly experienced federal criminal defense attorney asleep on my living room couch. I woke him up, between snores by gently and repeatedly clearing my throat, to be absolutely sure of this.

So supposedly, baby K was being babysat at a friend's home the morning of the SF and KH working that morning. This would give TH a window of opportunity, especially if she had somewhere on the property already prepared!!!

Reportedly, LE has done a thorough search of the school and the surrounding areas, but have they thoroughly searched the H home -- outside!! They live on a rural road with septic tank and well water -- ?? I presume.

I know it's an awful thought, but no stone can be left unturned.

Something isn't sitting right with me re the landscaper, i.e. able to cut thick brush and get into forested areas, lots of digging tools. Ugh!!!!!!!!

You and I seem to be thinking on the same lines. I appreciate you pointing out that TH is not a hands on murderer. It could very well be she passed him on to someone else. Kyron could be alive. Below is my earlier post:

It seems if both wives were so worried about that at one time, then Kaine must throw around the threat - "I'm going to take the kids and there's nothing you can do about it!"

As strange as this case is, could it be that LE gave this "leak" the go ahead? It's nothing new for them to say no comment or we can't comment on that, but what if they have a bigger plan in mind? IF someone does have Kyron they would be watching everything about this. They are now seeing that no one is being charged for this latest so they may start thinking that if they return Kyron, they won't be in as much trouble for it? MOO

That's an interesting thought you've got there. It would make sense that if LE gave the go ahead to anyone, it would be the Oregonian. I think LE has been doing a lot of fence-mending after KH's behavior toward them.

Both The O and WW have every right to be miffed about what "the team" did on Thursday. It was like saying: If you act like journalists, we will punish you. If you act like our PR reps, we will reward you.

But despite the ill will it probably caused, I doubt The O would print anything that could jeopardize the return of Kyron or his safety. I do think Kyron is alive and with someone who cares about his well-being. If there was indeed a murder-for-hire request, the person who has Kyron might not have known about that.

The landscaper - whom Terri had hired to do work last November without Kaine's knowledge - came forward to investigators as they reached out to everyone that they could find who had had contact with the family. While he said he had no intention of carrying out the plot, he did believe that he would be getting something from Terri.

"She led him on," sources said.

Well, yes.

I think perhaps Kaine's been in a bit of shock for a few weeks here ... politicians have learned this lesson ... at the first hint of your secrets coming out ... just out with it yourself. Beating the media to it is your best chance to control the story ... ah well ... it likely does not apply as I suspect LE has coached Kaine & Co to stay quiet, even if they didn't want to ... JMHO and all .
