I wonder if they also incinerated the contents of the Roots bag (and any other bags we may learn of)? ...Though I suppose clothing and makeup and stuff could just be put in the garbage without raising suspicion.

I bet they expected the defence to spend more time on the witnesses.

That's what I think as well, they expected more shenanigans from DM, and more thundering questions from Dungey. Half the time I forget that MS is even there, but not today.....

  • #143
The way that I understood the testimony in regard to the ipad being called 'MS's ipad'... was that the ipad was backed up to a computer hard drive which was found inside DM's residence, where the backup file was called 'MS's ipad'.. I wasn't getting that the ipad itself had changed its name. I can't find where I read that from now though!

I do remember seeing a tweet that said the IPad was renamed. I assumed it meant the IPad Apple ID had been changed.

Crown calls Michael Ryder, he's a computer forensic analyst with the Ontario Provincial Police.
He's the officer who analyzed the iPad.
by Shannon Martin 12:39 PM

Correction - he's not an officer. He's an analyst. Justice Michael Code clarifies for the court.

20 minutes turns into an hour.....hard to believe that they are ahead of schedule.....MOO (I'm just impatient)

This trial lacks useless cross-exams what were dominating the TB trial.

Interesting if there is an internal police investigation why the LB investigation could not pin these dumbs in the first month.

Ryder took pictures of the iPad while in his office, Now we are seeing some pics of pics. #Smich #Babcock

Shannon Martin‏ @ShannonMartinTV now
Ryder will take us through a series of photos he took of the iPad, and screen caps as well.

Ryder will take us through a series of photos.

We're looking at the iPad's lock screen. It appears to be Smich's girlfriend at the time, Marlena, on the left, who court has previously seen in a rap video.

On the right is someone in a Halloween-style mask - likely Smich but I can't say for sure.

Or he could have just flung stuf around his room. Who would notice? He doesn't seem like a garbage putting out kind of guy.

Ryder points out the "Notes" app on the iPad. Earlier at this trial we heard a rap video #Smich played from that program on that iPad

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now34 seconds ago
Ken Lockhart is walking us through iPad, incl part where you can find the serial number and the part where give it a name. "Mark's iPad."

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now15 seconds ago
You can change the familiar iPad name but not the serial number, Ryder says. There is also a unique device # for cell network. #Babcock

The iCloud option was disabled on the iPad found in #Smich room. That feature was found saved on the device.

Hmmm....are we to assume that MS disabled this feature? I wonder if they asked SL anything about his Ipad when he was on the stand? We are missing so much.

Ryder tells the jury one of the email addresses connected to the iPad's iCloud account begins with Dell.Millard

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now35 seconds ago
We are looking at the different accounts attached to the iPad found in #Smich home. Hotmail and iMessage enabled

And the rest of the "hole in the head" gang never saw or suspected a thing?

Lies were said!
I'll never forget that comment.

He mentioned it himself when he said he lent it to her to help find an apartment. I wonder if they will return it to him now? How long will it take for the smell of MS to wear off?

Why is the Judge asking so many questions? That's for the Crown to do. Wake up Crown!

iMessage operates through the internet rather than through the phone number, judge gets Ryder to clarify. #Smich

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
Judge gets guffaws when he asks why you would use one messaging system or email address with several others. Sounds stymied. #Babcock

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews 12s12 seconds ago
Now the FaceTime settings "yet another form of communication," Ryder explains to jury. #Babcock.

Lisa Hepfner‏ @HefCHCHNews now26 seconds ago
[email protected] was one email address on the Laura #Babcock iPad. Ryder can't say whether account was ever used on iPad.
