Why does it matter that MS didn’t give MM the iPad? Seems like a red herring.

He didn’t give it to her because he is an awful human being, which is why he killed at least one person.

Seems like not seeing the forest for trees, in my opinion.

It's controversial because it was DM, not MS, that promised an iPad to MM, however it appears MS took the iPad immediately. It implies MM knew about LBs iPad before MS assumed ownership of it. The question is how?

ETA: but it is my belief (for no reason really) that DM promised A iPad not necessarily THAT iPad. Also, it's the timing of LB being with DM and the iPad being acquired that doesn't provide time for MM to know unless she was there.

Did he think he had tripped up the detective? The May order would have been for evidence for TB and not LB so was he "hoping" that they found it during an "illegal" search and would be thrown out? (ie: warrant stating only allowed looking for TB info not LB info)

Looks like all the letters and numbers are done in red, then another colour (perhaps black or a different darker colour) was spray-painted on top. Not sure why he would have left the 1 the way it is.

Since MS says in his song the last time he saw her she was outside the house made me wonder if MS was on lookout and cleanup duty. He didn't tell his friends he killed her, he tells them he burned her.

We could never wrap our heads around why Tim was taken away..."for a truck", which still didn't make sense to us. In no way do I mean this to be insensitive or to give the horrible outcome justification, but perhaps in some way it happened so that it could lead to getting answers about Laura. With the way the investigation was [not]-going, who knows if anything would have come of it otherwise. Not for a very long time, if at all. All MO

Putting this in again as first time seemed to have a glitch. This angle the paint colour looks like a mixture.

I was going over some of the mob reporter videos again and saw a bit of info about a video that was found on DM's computer of the incinerator at the hangar on the trailer. The date is Sept 5th 2012 and taken with an Apple iphone 4S. Lots of stuff relevant to this case IMO on this video of evidence in the Bosma case:

During opening statements on Oct. 23, the prosecution said Smich's iPad originally belonged to Babcock, a gift from her former boyfriend, Shawn Lerner, alleging the iPad was renamed "Mark's iPad" in early July after she was killed.

IMO, It's highly unlikely that either of them had any idea that duffel bag had LB's name on it. According to this report, that hidden tag was on the underside of the bag.

Toronto Police Const. Kim Seguin testified about being in the Smich house on Dec. 16, 2013, for the second police search. In a bedroom used for storage, wedged behind boxes, was a small red Roots duffel bag with wheels. Inside were several spray paint cans, the kind used for graffiti.

But that isn&#8217;t what causes an almost audible intake of breath from the courtroom spectators. It&#8217;s the close-up photo of the identification tag pulled from its small compartment on the underside of the bag: &#8220;Laura Babcock,&#8221; it reads, with her family&#8217;s home address and phone number.
