Lisa Hepfner must be done for the day as she hasn't tweeted since before the break.

But then what is with all the pings around Kipling station? His phone didn’t track to her parents place, right? Why would DM go through the effort to drop the dog off if he was going to kill her?? Why not take the dog?

I always assumed that she left the $1000 for her parents and just took the remaining $3000 with her...which DM would have ended up with, hence his comment about all the loot.
Yeah, I'm of the opinion that the simplest scenario is often the most accurate. LB dropped off her dog, did some laundry, left $1000 and took off. That to me, just fits.

Code says the jury can't use any of this evidence to infer that Millard or Smich are people of generally bad character. "You can't infer guilt from general bad character," Code says.
by Adam Carter 4:45 PM

The third bad character evidence is Millard's apparent smuggling of ammo into Canada on July 30.
by Adam Carter 4:45 PM

Code says there's no evidence Millard obtained ammo for the gun by the time of Babcock's disappearance.

I hear that, Nosey Parker! My sentiments exactly!!

One other thing that’s bothered me, as a dog owner, is hearing that Pedo soiled DM’s bed. I don’t know where that came from, his defence, or others speculating... But as a dog owner almost all of my life, dogs don’t normally soil where they or their owner sleeps. That’s taboo in dog behavior, from my experience and what I’ve read in canine behavior.

I can’t imagine that the dog was well taken care of. Did you see poor Pedo at the very end of the MS rap video clip?

"It is very important that you understand that you not use the apparent smuggling ... to infer that he is a person of bad character or criminal disposition," Code says about Millard.
by Adam Carter 4:48 PM

"You must not decide this case on the basis of Mr. Millard's general character or disposition," Code says, adding the jury has to "separate off" how they would normally look at bad character.
by Adam Carter 4:49 PM

Code says we're now talking about instructions on prior inconsistent statements from witnesses.

My opinion here. IF she did not drop her dog off and I *think* I read that they (her parents) came home to the dog and money on the counter. Millard knew that her parents changed the locks and left a key for her outside for her to use at all times, I believe they said they changed the locks to control who comes and goes. I found that odd because they left a key outside hidden so that seem odd and would not change whom she brings in. But anyway I wonder if he dropped the dog off at her parents. I would have to dig to see where I read that but I am new to the boards here and not good at searching.
This is all my opinion but its what I wonder. He left $1000 for the care of the dog and kept the $3000 for himself to spend.

Not sure if I have this right, but I was under the impression she was at her parents house on Jun 30...left money in an envelope in the counter, and Lacey in the kennel. Per billandrews timeline, I have no other link for that bit.

She was kicked out of the escort agency office where she was sleeping on June 30th and ended up at the park and then Trevors’ apartment. Trevors let her stay a few days and then dropped her off at her parents house on July 3rd. At that point she dropped off the dog and the money and then was looking for a place to stay once again. She had a conversation (or several) with DM and then supposedly met him at Kippling station.

Code says when a witness says something in the witness box but said something different in an earlier statement, it may be important for how they decide to view that testimony.
by Adam Carter 4:53 PM

Code is now going through inconsistencies in testimony from witnesses like Marlena Meneses.
by Adam Carter 4:56 PM

He's now going through Mr. Dean's inconsistencies with police statements.

ETA: I remember Trevors saying she took LB to her parents house because that is where she would want to go and she felt she was doing the best thing for LB.

I really don’t think that there is any way that DM could have been the one to drop off the dog and the money if Trevors has already dropped her off there.

I haven’t watched that for a few weeks now, but it’s even more troubling today. I think I’ve only seen a cut version, as I don’t remember seeing MM or Pedo in that video, so thanks for that link. I am with you on that, Pedo not being well taken care of. I’ve heard along the way that DM “loved” that dog but I don’t believe DM loved anything or had any regard for anything. Not sure where Pedo is, but whereever he is, I’m sure (or hope) he’s much better off.

I think CN took Pedo to DM’s mother’s house when he was arrested. Not sure what that means for Pedo’s situation now though....

Ahh, right! Much thanks!!
Jeez I hope I’m never asked to serve on a jury at this point lol. My old brain can’t keep things straight anymore!

Haha! No problem. It took me a bit to think through it. I’m waiting for my kids to get their hair cut so i’m bored and not thinking about anything else. :)

It’s also why i’m flooding the group with my posts... oops.

It's a lot easier to remember everything (although much harder on you emotionally) if you are living it like the jurors are.

Code is now moving to the alleged inconsistencies with Marlena Meneses. She gave eight statements to police, but she admitted she lied about cancelling her phone in one of them. She also lied about never seeing the Eliminator.
by Adam Carter 5:07 PM

Code now going through more in terms of inconsistencies with Meneses' statements. Meneses said "I think they did use that thing once before," referring to the Eliminator.
by Adam Carter 5:11 PM

Code tells the jury to once again size up these inconsistencies, and see how it relates to her testimony.
by Adam Carter 5:16 PM

Code now talking with the jury about inconsistencies from the testimony of Gabe Austerweil, who said he saw Babcock in a nut store in Toronto, after the Crown alleges she died.

Yes I would imagine! I think about the jury quite often during this trial, even moreso today as I read along with the Judge’s charge to the jury, and how very complex it seems (though that could be my aging brain again), but one thing I’ve noted in my limited experience with the legal system, is how much respect and honor? the judges give the jury. I’m not sure how to put it, but I appreciate the lengths they go through.

I hate to put it this way, but in the words of CN, it makes me feel “all warm & fuzzy”. Sorry, too soon
